    Finally a real explanation about silhouette studio , we really hope you release more of that as it’s so hard to understand the machines and finding a tutorial almost impossible ,, thank you

    I've had my Cameo3 for over 2 years and had not used the pens once. I started designing a cut-out project and thought it was time to break out the pens. Googled how to use them, your video was 2nd or 3rd on the results, I pushed play and within the first 15min of watching, I printed (and then cut) the project for a PERFECT outcome! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! You explained it very well and left me without a single question unanswered!!

    This is an excellent tutorial on Silhouette sketch pens and the software. I found it easy to understand. I have a slightly older Cameo and have some experience with it, so I realize how valuable this tutorial is in going on with further details and skills to maximize my enjoyment of creating with sketch pens! Bravo!

    I've had my Cameo 3 since early 2017. While I love it, I never had an interest in the sketch pen feature until I picked up the pen holder today. This video was so helpful. I had zero idea about all the features of creating and altering your own "sketchy" fonts or simple shapes. Now I know several more things than I did.

    Since this came out after Cameo 4 was on the market, it would be helpful to address that only one blade position is available...and that a lot of the flexibility and features are not there.

    • @KellyWayment
      @KellyWayment 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was filmed before the Cameo 4 was available, but you may notice I mention several times the alternative for using a single tool holder. (Usually I referred to the Portrait machine.)

      I like my Cameo 3 so much and don’t want go to the cameo 4 because of loss of the 2 tool option

    • @KellyWayment
      @KellyWayment 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Meaghan Larsen I know how you feel! If you decide to upgrade to a Cameo 4, keep your 3 for the dual-tool features, and then you can appreciate the 4 for the cool features you gain with the specialty tools in carriage 2. :)

    • @meaghanlarsen1618
      @meaghanlarsen1618 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alisha Lampley with the cameo 4 you would need to add pauses for switching between ratchet blade and writing pens. Because the speciality blade can only hold the special rotary and craft blades. Sometimes I wonder if I would not like the extra steps but of adding pauses and taking out blade to switch for pen. It not huge deal breaker but sometimes I feel like it could be a little annoying for some projects.

      It's currently called "Pen Holder Type B". www.silhouetteamerica.com/shop/blades-and-mats/PEN-HOLDER-C4 If it states it works up to Cameo 3 and Curio, it won't work in the Cameo 4.

    I just got my Cameo 4. The direction booklet that came with it says you CANNOT do a sketch pen in carriage 2.
    It says that 2 is exclusively for special tools.

    • @KellyWayment
      @KellyWayment 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is correct. This class was filmed with the Cameo 3, so please treat it for sketching as if it has one tool holder. (I mention how to do this a few times for Portrait owners, but it applies to the Cameo 4 as well.)

    Hi, when using the sketch pens I get drag marks from the ink. The drag marks start from the corner of the paper to sketch images and sometimes through the images. Also, sometimes the pen is very wobbly after locking the pen in place. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

    • @KellyWayment
      @KellyWayment 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try reducing your "force" setting to below 10. If it's a Silhouette sketch pen, it shouldn't wobble. If you're using your own pen in the adjustable pen holder, sometimes the tip can move if it's got the wrong size of collar or if the pen is extra skinny. Again, reducing the force could help by letting the pen do its writing without so much drag on your paper. If you still have trouble, please reach out to Silhouette Support. www.silhouetteamerica.com/contact

    For the cameo 4, it looks like you must use the pause method, as you can’t put either the sketch or a ratchet blade into tool holder 2. Is that true or is there a work around that would allow it?
    Annoying as having one in each tool holder makes so much sense.

    Is there a difference with a Cameo 4? Can the stronger right tool holder still be used for a second pen? And do the same sketch pens fit?

    • @KellyWayment
      @KellyWayment 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Cameo 4's right tool holder can not be used for a sketch pen. It has been upgraded to a specialty tool holder with different functions needing high force. For sketching, treat the Cameo 4 the same as the Portrait models or Cameo 1 & 2 with a single tool holder. You need the black-body sketch pens and the blue adapter to use sketch pens in the Cameo 4 (left side only).
