There was a mistake on my end for the price of JCally JM6 Pro. It is NOT $6.99 as noted in the video. I was confused with the advertised price of JM6 (NON Pro) on AliExpress. And taking this into consideration, the grading for JM6 Pro on Value Proposition has been re-aligned from 10 to 8 (similar to other JCally dongles score). This means JM6 Pro will now be graded at 8 instead of 10 and thus adjusting the overall score from 80 to 78. Sorry for the confusion. Thank You!
Haha yeah I was just looking at that now - many postings combine the JM6 with the JM6 Pro as just "options" for the same product but there's a 2x price difference between them, almost 2x power difference, to say nothing of the sad crosstalk spec of only -53 dB for the non-Pro. BTW if you look carefully they've also made some variants called JM6-2 and JM6-4 which are priced about the same as the Pro but don't have a separate amp chip, instead they're "balanced" options with 2.5 and 4.4 millimetre outputs. The specs are a bit contradictory on what chip is in them but I think it's the 31998 (not 31988 like it appears in a few places), which is supposedly an upgraded version of the 31993 with slightly better DNR (120>117 dB) and way better crosstalk rejection (-110 < -53 dB). I have to wonder if calling this single-chip design "balanced" just because it has better stereo separation and is wired to 4-pole output connectors isn't just marketing. But it's almost certainly *not* worth the same price as the Pro since both have the same stereo separation spec but the Pro also has way more power.
@@d0nj03 Can anyone actually hear this crosstalk thing in real life application? I know I can't but perhaps someone more atttuned to sound could. The BAL options on these dongles are usually built to accommodate seamless usage of 4.4mm BAL jack which many people have in possession. The output remains the same, SE because that's what they are. Eliminating the need to use 4.4mm to 3.5 SE adapter can present a better chance of getting cleaner contacts. BAL circuits will only be applicable for genuinely dual discrete designs where the amp stage will have separate grounds or even from DAC stage they are already split
@@AndyAudioVault Well I know from experience I can hear the difference between -25 dB and -40 dB crosstalk because -25 is a very congested tunnel-like soundstage. According to NwAvGuy we need -60 dB to have "good enough for everyone" separation, and that seems realistic to me. The problem with the "-53" spec is that we don't know if they measured it with headphones connected or not. If it's without headphones it could be too optimistic, it could get much worse when you connect headphones, so with -53 already being worse than the -60 ideal, I would not trust or buy a device that only promises -53 and doesn't clarify how that was measured. Another issue is depending on how the original spec was translated, the crosstalk spec could also indicate radio-frequency noise rejection capability, like immunity to Bluetooth noise or cell network communication noise. In that case even -60 dB will not be sufficient and something more like -85 dB would be the target (just like for THD+N, where you want at least -85 dB or 0.005%).
Thank you for the resources reviewing this dongles for the people who can't afford to buy a an expensive dongles because of the budget, and at range get the best for the budget
Something interesting that I noticed is that the Abigail and the Meizu mblu Hi-fi DAC share the same Vendor and Product ID, but they have different product names That would indicate that they have almost if not the same tuning. Interesting since I believe mblu was one of the first DACs that launched with the CX31993, but very few people talked about it, even the CX-Pro and Abigail caught way more attention
Yes that's true. Because MEIZU has always been pushing premium price and naturally the cheaper alternatives of the same thing will get more attention from buyers
Thanks. But apparently the $6.99 price was an isolated offer in AliExpress from one particular seller as the rest seems to sell it for around $13-14, so it may not be something that can be found anywhere else, that sort of price
Hi Andy, any reasons to get the JM6 Pro over the JM7 other than the power advantage? I have found (at least to my ears) that the JM7 sounds more balanced than the Pro version where the same chip is paired with the amplifier chip. I could be wrong, but to my ears the original sounds more natural, disregarding the power disadvantage. What do you think?
It depends on what you driving. I use magnetic planars 90% of the time and in this case JM6 Pro works better for me. Otherwise, JM7 is already more than sufficient and capable for most IEMs
Hey andy! I've never bought a dac before, and i have my first iem truthear x crinacle zero red. What portable dac should i buy to use with my samsung s24 series phone? I want to buy a cheap one. I've looked at some options like abigail pro, kz- am01, jcally jm6 pro, jcally jm7, audiocular cs-pro, jcally jm25, jcally jm30, 7hz- 71. I really dont know which one to get Please help me.
For the dongles you mentioned, they are really closely matched between each other and with ZERO red, all of them would perform good. To make things simple, just get Abigail Pro or KZ AM01 if you can get them easily
Great video and great test... I already have the DAC FAAEAL ALC5686, JCALLY JA02 (KT chip, but I don't know which model/version) and I bought the FAAEAL KT (waiting for it to arrive)... I now intend to buy a DAC with CX chip ... 😃
Just got them. It sounds so good with the Tanchjim Zero. With those dongles the trebles are peaky and sibilant but with the AP7 it's actually fine, same with the Linglong. Enjoying the neutral sound!
nc review this helps a lot! Ive been searching for someone to review this kinds of dongle comparison because Im so confused to the market this days. U got me subscribed! Thanks for the Philippines!
My pleasure. Between JM6Pro and 71, I'd say JM6Pro especially if you want ultra compact form factor and MIC support. Both of them are in equal footing on sound
@@AndyAudioVault Pardon me for asking again but would you consider JCALLY JM10, a CS43131 DAC, as an upgrade from JCALLY JM6 Pro in terms of sound quality? Thanks!
Very detailed video! Love it! I already have Jcally JA04 (JM4 non-pro) for my KZ Castor. Do you think JM6 Pro will be a good upgrade for my Castor? Thank you!
Hi Andy, fantastic content as always, thank you. However, I am only able to find JCALLY JM6 for the price you state, not the PRO version which is more expensive. Please correct me if I am wrong!

Hi Andy, there is a JM6-2/JM6-4 model which uses CX31988 with balanced output, which different with JM6 and JM6 Pro, hopefully Andy can do the review of it in somedays because that's the ONLY? (if not sorry) balanced output dac under RM60 that I can find. Very interested in balance output! Now having JM04pro ALC5686, sounds decent but wants to take a step further because the battery consumption of it is super terrifying. Thanks!
Yes I know. And I can tell you this. They are the same thing. Because I already have Abigail Pro on both 3.5mm and 4.4mmm jacks. The core of the DAC remains the same, single ended and the jacks were placed there to adapt easily for anyone using 4.4mm BAL (which still run SE ground). You can watch my other video on Abigail Pro and you will understand what I meant by this
As you said usb exclusive mode shows true potential. As smartphone itself limits power at 70%. Then if I use Abigail Pro and Jm6pro without Usb exclusive mode then final output would be same or not. As smartphone limits at 70%. Which will have more headroom. Not to mention I'm asking this for my Letshour S12 Pro
Yes that is right. It applies to all DAC connected to any Android hosts. Does not matter JM6 Pro or CEntrance DACport HD or iFi ZEN2, they will all be limited by stock Android SRC for power delivery, only USB Exclusive mode will allow this limitations to be removed and you get 100% from any connected DACs. S12Pro is not a demanding IEM compared to other planars, so you probably can get away with limited power
I just bought Truthear Zero. What is better between Abigail pro and JCAlly JM6. I'll be using it for competitive shooter games. So preferrably the one with better imaging and soundstage. Also that is on the neutral side.
Great comparison with the inexpensive DAC's. A lot of reviewers only review those mid range to high end DAC, not a lot of music lovers have deep pockets, so this is very helpful. I'm glad that I saw your channel. Btw, does the mic work on the JM6 Pro?
Thanks Ariel. I try to cover everything from $1 dongle to anything I can afford to get. No prejudice. Yes all ultra compact dongles support MIC even JM6 Pro
@@AndyAudioVault Just a follow up question if you don't mind.... Is the JM6 Pro enough for the 7hz Legato? I'm just using my Rog Phone II for playing flac files.
Andy sir. Irrespective of their price difference, which one of these would be reasonable to buy? 'VE Avani' or 'Jcally JM6 Pro' What are the differences in terms of sound signature and soundstage? I will be using it with the blon bl 03 iem on my phone.
Please just Andy, I hate it when addressed with a sir. LOL. Now, for BL03, you need a bit of energy and sparkle to make it sing, so I would recommend Abigail Pro instead, Avani would make it even warmer sounding, and JM6 Pro is more suited for planars or less sensitive IEMs. So look for either JM7 or Abigail Pro
Bought the jm6 pro and tanchjim zero! Liking the sound it produced paired it with my phone, but theres a slight static/hissing whenever a person talking(very annoying). Do you have any idea why this happen? 🧐🤷
@@ikhwan1537 Lol some of my videos will have that Pinna hissing due to the BOYA MIC I use which is in default mode will emphasize Treble. It is the ZERO picking up artifacts in the recording and that's how a resolving IEMs would behave. For example for monitoring purposes something like the Etys are used to detect irregular noises. If you are watching proper movies and still hissing then perhaps you are highly sensitive to upper frequencies
incredible analysis I bought the jm6 pro because of its video but I don't know if it is normal that it has a subtle white noise in the background. I don't know if it is because of its amplifier chip since I have another conexant 31993 but it hardly has that white noise and in the jm6 pro it is perceive a little more
Hello, im new to audiophile listening and I saw that it could be beneficial to get a dongle DAC for my phone and laptop. Im not confident in the parts they used, so id figure i would try one out. I was recommended the Jcally jm7, but I see the jm12 too. Which would be the better one to get?
Great reviews on inexpensive DACs! I've been looking for JCally DAC reviews but to no avail, until I stumbled upon you in my YT recommendations. One question, I have been wondering if it's worth upgrading from the JM04 Pro to the JM6 Pro if I'm using the Truthear Hexa? Or maybe the JM04 Pro is more suitable for the Hexa?
I would say that the difference would be minimal at best because JM04 Pro is already a great ultra portable dongle on its own. The tuning however is slightly different as JM04Pro tends to be a bit vibrant and frontal with the sound presentation, while JM6 Pro offers slightly wider sound staging and less frontal. For HEXA, I would stick to JM04Pro as they establish a balanced synergy. The next upgrade path from that point is definitely iBasso DC03Pto which is literally an improved sound of JM04Pro
Hello Andy, thanks for the very interesting and instructive review. I would like to ask you, which compact budget dongle/s, according to your extensive knowledge and experience, would you recommend for someone who is starting out in this, let's say 4 stars, that are cheap, preferably indicated for electronic music, if possible with some dynamic bass reinforcement. This last of course is not exclusive. Thank you so much for your work.
Thanks Fernando. For anything under $60, iBasso DC03Pro is what I will strongly recommend and if you don't mind the size, VE Megatron. Both illegally cheap and both are 5 Stars rated. If you prefer to keep it with smaller budget, then Abigail Pro gets my vote. Cheers
@@AndyAudioVault First of all, thanks for your prompt response. One more question, can I connect any of these dongles to the line in of this amplifier? (Fosi Audio BT20A PRO)
didn't know you were malaysian as well. just a question tho since your comment on the jcally jm7 is "another iteration of the cx31993" should i just get the CX-Pro Audio 31993 or pay more for better QC?
CX-Pro is an older version of CX31993. That generation was for CX-Pro, Abigail and JM6 (Non Pro). Then there's a 2nd gen which offer minor refinement (minor but still an improvement). And the newer gen can be found on this JM7 and Abigail Pro. Hope that helps
Hello Andy! Good day, I would likely to a suggest on what dac should I buy? My current options is Jcally jm6 pro kz amo1 Fiio ja11 I need mic supported Do youu more better options on that?
I think of all those you listed, I would go for the $5 Venture Electronics ODO instead. Amazing sound as well as excellent performance for inline MIC support
@@AndyAudioVault is ve odo powerful dac like the 3 that I mentioned? And I think the ve odo does not have amp chip right? edit: Also thank you for responding to my comment sir andy!! I am very new hear in this audiophile world, I am looking forward to learn more and your channel attracts my to the detailed review that you made.
I come from the JM7 and considering to buy the JM6 pro. Should I buy that or should I save up for DC03 pro? Also what's the difference between DC03 pro and Moondrop Dawn Pro?
From JM7 to JM6 Pro would probably make not much difference. But moving to DC03Pro yes you will hear the improvements. Between DAWN Pro and DC03Pro, the tuning is different where DC03Pro as noted in my review is colored, vibrant and linearly enhanced, DAWN Pro on the other hand is neutral linear without any coloration in the sound frequency. So it depends on what you like, if transparency is what you after, DAWN Pro does it better, but if you prefer dynamic vibrant sound, DC03Pro would be the one
which is the best sounding dongle for iems like TRUTHEAR HEXA or BLON BL03 or TRUTHEAR x CRINACLE ZERO : RED is it 7HZ 71 or VE ABIGAIL PRO or JCALLY JM6 PRO or MOONDROP CLICK neutral sounding, wider sound stage, better seperation and imaging among these
They are all very close, even if you will compare all of the ones you mentioned side by side, it will take some serious A-B testing to pick up the differences since all the IEMs you use are natively efficient. But for the sake of choosing one from the bunch, I would go for JM6 Pro simply it has a bit more power to spare just in case you need it (for planars maybe in the future)
@@baasimhassan7858 Personally both are okay, but for my taste and preferences, which is VERY subjective to my taste, I like Tanchjim ZERO over both of them
KZ PR2 planar iems that I ordered is the biggest hype these days and supposedly they're very hard to drive - 15 ohms and 94db sens. I went with JM6 Pro thanks to this video, do you think it's a good choice here at this very low price point or is there something else? Thanks.
I have PR2 now and yes it needs power to run properly due to 93-94 dB of sensitivity. But I will test test it with dongles like Abigail Pro or JM6 Pro and see how it fares
I've had the PR2 in my possession for 24 hours now and ordered a JM6 Pro to drive it as well. It should be here by the end of the month. By the way, the PR2 is a very good IEM, especially at its current price, but even so regardless. It definitely needs all the power it can get, though. An Apple dongle (non EU version) is barely able to drive it and has no headroom when doing so.
@@artatgray I'm not that concerned with volume, anything other than the problematic Apple EU dongle should provide enough. I wonder about the sound quality and if higher driving power translates to slightly better dynamics
@@araakin Volume is a function of dynamic range. We can't have one without the other. That being said, I remembered I had an older dongle tucked away and tried it with the PR2. It works, and is able to drive it to a higher volume than the Apple which really makes the PR2 really come alive. If I were to make a comparison, the listening experience is now much like that of a great set of speakers in an acoustically good room - both of which I happen to own. I'm impressed enough to have spent the entire night revisiting some classic favorites in my library. They sure do sound good... 📱⚡🎧🎶🎶😎
Do you plan on testing dongles with IEMs? I feel it would be a better use case because people use these small dongles on the go... If you use over the ear headphones like the HD650 it's best to use bigger dongles, battery powered amps, desktop amplifiers, etc. Also, it's good to test if you hear noise with sensitive IEMs! Thanks for the video! 😊
Of course I did, IEMs are what I use the most. I just demonstrated usage of hard to drive headphones on them just to see how far we can stretch these little dongles
Hello sir, which Jcally Dac dongle would you recommend for the blon bl03 iem? I like the warm sound stage of my iem. I don't want to lose any sub-bass to make it brighter.
@@AndyAudioVaultThank you for the feedback sir. I'm confused between these two dongles. How's the Jcally JM6 Pro compared to the VE Avani in 2024? Should it be more reasonable to buy VE Avani than the JM6 Pro in 2024? I'd appreciate a bigger soundstage too along with the signature. Since you tested both dongles I'm asking for your recommendation. Also my budget range is 20$ to 30$
Hi Andy, I am planning to upgrade my Jcally JM6 pro with iBasso DC04. Will there be a significant difference in the sound quality? planning to use it with my simgot ea500 LM.
Great video, I'm thinking if I should buy something from these offerings or buy the DC03 Pro as you and many suggested for pairing with KZ PR1 pro. Dc03 pro is somewhat out of budget for me right now. I'm trying to go for a CS chip on usb dac. as I really like the CS chip on the M1 Mac 2020
You can't go wrong with any of the JCally as featured in this video, or even Abigail Pro, especially if you want to keep your spending a bit more reserved
Hello Sir I’m using the lightning apple dongle right now, do you think the JM06 Pro or JM08 (both lightning version) are an upgrade in sound and power, and which one should i go for JM06 or JM08 or I should stick with my apple dongle, sorry for the long question,
Whats better/more worth it, jm9/jm6e/jm80e i cant decide since jm80e has sabre dac and is a bit too expensive for my budget but if its worth getting i will get it, i want to use it with both my phone and my pc I also have an option of buying the Audiocular D07 which is very much in my budget range
JM6 is really old and borderline obsolete with the aging CS46L41, JM80e is a powerful ES9280AC DAC which is definitely better than JM9, but the JM6E, built on the highly popular and proven CX31993 is a more viable option if your choices are limited to those three. Otherwise you can also consider JM6Pro or KZ AM01
Hello, I have the cca cxs, I am between the jm6 pro or the 7hz 71, I want to be sure of my purchase even if the difference is minimal, it surprises me how the price is different between these and the cheapest is higher, it baffles me because of the old position of dac, I have looked at the price and it could definitely only reach me for these or any suggestions for the cca cxs
Hi, I have a "Redmi Note8 Pro" and a pair of "7HZ Salnotes Zero" and a pair of "KZ ZS10 PRO X", would you say I would hear a difference in sound quality (hopefully better) using one of these DACs? If yes on AliExpress the JM6 Pro is selling for 13,29€, should I still prefer it over the JM7 that is sold at pretty much the same cost? Thank you.
Assuming that you are using Redmi Note8 Pro directly from the 3.5mm - as I never tried that one so it will be hard for me to compare with JM6 Pro. For Salnotes Zero and ZS10 Pro X, JM7 will be as good as JM6 Pro since both IEMs are highly efficient
@@AndyAudioVault wow, thank you for the prompt reply! I really appreciate the time you spend replying to me and all the comments of everyone else! But the way I just say your review (and blind test of your three guests) and I think I will go with the VE ODO, even if it won't be 5$, but more like 11,59€ (12,60$) considering shipping costs.
Hi Andy,I have a Simgot Ew100p its easy to drive but my phone output is bad it takes like 40-45% volume to drive the Simgot,so which would you recommend between Jm7 or Jm6pro?
@@Fish-fu7ge yes apple sucks. This is because non apple dongles don't take advantage of the apple device's in-built amp circuit so it's being amped just by what's supplied via the dac. So unfortunately, if you want a lightning dac for an apple device the next step up from apple lightning dongle, to get decent power and volume is way more expensive. You'd probably need the DC03Pro with a lightning otg cable which would be more expensive than the Pr2 itself. At that point you might want to start considering the simgot ea500 or iems in the $100 price bracket as competitors. Consider that If the JM6 pro dac doesn't work for you, the next general dac upgrade, for the pr2, is 3 times the price.
I recently got the new Xiaomi Type C to 3.5mm adapter, and it sounded great at first! But after using it for a week or two, the sound started to feel muddy.
Hello Andy, recently my cx-pro just broke and im planning to buy a replacement DAC. Im currently looking at the Abigail pro and JM6 Pro as they both have the same chip and I loved the sound signature of my cx-pro. Was wondering which of the two is better in terms of overall sound in your opinion?
Dose the jm6 pro amp could power the akg k702 (62oms-105db) to its best and maximum performance without need an other amp?? I'm amazed at how at this price a camp can work so powerfully, but I'm afraid that I didn't understand well and that it's not considered an amplifier.
Powering it up for listening loudness is not an issue, it has the power for headroom even to drive 300 Ohm HD650 as you can see here in the video. The only question remain would be synergy factor, if it will provide maximum dynamic performance, and I would say that on that aspect it is good, but for the best you will need to look for bigger dongles like iBasso DC04Pro or DC03Pro or many other which I have featured here in #donglemadness
Love your spectacle frames........ any purchase links ?? Btw landed here while searching for the KZ AM01 DAC and its performance with respect to the JCALLY jm6pro. What would be your pick of the two ?
Hey Andy! I'm also thinking of buying a dongle but cannot dicide between Tiandirenhe cx pro which uses cx31993 and jcally jm7 and jcally jm6. Jcally jm6 pro is not available in my country so that will be out of my reach, but can you suggest me one from three mentioned above, thanks.
Which one better between jm 06pro and jm9 (cs46l41) I have hyperX cloud 2 my point is want more sound stage and good for listening music. What i would choose Or u recommend other dac? Thanks
Not many designed with iPhone lightning jack so you will need to find one that plugs directly. I stopped using iPhones since 2021 so I have little idea what to recommend really. iPhones just not suitable for music
Hi Andy, I'm looking for dac/amp for my iphone 12 to be used with the KZ PR2 i'm choosing between the jcally ap10 and jm60L, which of the two is the better buy they are priced similarly here in our country? Thanks!
iPhones has limited choices for powerful dongles especially if you looking at budget range. I stopped using iPhones by 2021 because it just can't churn out enough power to properly pair with many of my powerful DACs. Which left me with the less powerful ones. But if you must stick to iPhones and need power, you get something like Questyle M15, iBasso DC04Pro or FiiO KA5, anything less and you will just be missing potential for full power. AP10 I am not sure will work properly on iPhones, but if it does then perhaps it will work properly with PR2, JM60L, I haven't tried yet so I don't know
hey unfortunatly i bought a jcally JM6 NON pro.... so should i return it? I just needed something a bit powerful for my sennheiser hd 560s that i use on a desktop pc mainly for gaming
If you need power, yes JM6 Pro has it. But try JM6 first and see if you like the output, what matters the most is your DAC will work properly with whatever you use, especially if they are already efficient with power requirements
For Wan'Er SQ, practically no difference in sound from any three of them because Wan'Er SG is not very good at scaling with sources. It is already good sounding with any decent DACs.
The older iPhones using Lightning USB has very limited options unfortunately. I think you can find JCally JM08 with Lightning option and that would be a good dongle
Hola, me recomendarias el JM6 PRO para el KZ ZS10 Pro X, o alguna otra recomendacion que definitivamente sea un ñoco mejor que el resto en este rango de preció
Big difference? no. JA3 is already good. JM6 Pro would be providing improvements if you have an IEM that scales better with more power, something like a magnetic planar or low sensitivity/high impedance IEMs. If you are driving efficient and less scalable IEMs, then JA3 and JM6Pro would sound the same. You want to upgrade, look into Moondrop DAWN Pro, EPZ TP20 or iBasso DC03Pro territory, then you will hear audible improvements regardless
Hi i test intime with jm6 pro on my Samsung galaxy s22 ultra. But the sound from my Pocophone with build in 3.5mm hole is better sound .why its sound different?
It depends also on what your ears perceive as better, ultimately the only thing that count is what sounds good to your ears. Humans taste and preferences can differ vastly from one person to another
For Koss porta pro, kph40. i am using JM6 with Samsung Note10, it's enough loud in 50% volume. But i heard people told koss will have much better quality with high power input. Will I get improvement when upgrade to JM6 pro?🙏🏼
If you want to scale up for better performance, you need to go for higher tiered DAC/Amp like iBasso DC03Pro because the difference between JM6 and JM6 Pro is just 0.6 VRMS which will likely not evident enough for something like KPH40. Moving from JM6 to JM6Pro makes more sense for planar IEMs or low sensitivity dynamic drivers
I appreciate your meticulous attention to detail on all reviews, video and written. What do you think of the sound quality and power of the JM6 Pro compared to the Xumee (from Amazon with the ALC5686)?
Thanks Kevin. Between JM6 Pro and Xumee, the stark difference would be the tonal tuning itself - I would consider Xumee being a bit warmer, but still neutral enough, dynamics being crisp and imaging as well. While JM6 Pro would appear more neutral in a way of being not as warm as Xumee, it also has slightly better sense of space while Xumee has always been marginally better with spatial staging. Miniscule differences but apparent when paired with highly scalable transparent IEMs
Hello, loves your videos and blog too. It's really helpful since I'm new to these audiophile things Anyway, I ordered a KZ PR2 planar and Jcally JM6t which is new and more like jm6 but t shaped usb-c connector kinda with an Output Voltage: of 28.2mW @ 32Ω provided information. Do you think JM6t can make PR2 unleash its potential? because I heard PR2 is very hard to drive according to many reviewers
Thanks Baqir. I am not aware of JM6t because I have only tested JM6 and JM6Pro. Assuming that 6T is just a normal JM6 with a T USB, it will then perform equal to JM6. Also depending on how you run it. If you run with Android and not in USB exclusive mode, it will be just at around 75% of the actual power it capable of due to Android SRC limitations on power. USB Exclusive mode from either HIBY Music App or UAPP will then give 100% power and in this mode JM6T definitely has enough power to run the 94dB PR2, assuming that you are not the type that listens to high volume (I know for a fact many people need very high volume). You would have been better served had you gone for JM6Pro because that 1.6 Vrms of power will serve PR2 better on scaling factor (just like many other planars)
If you are driving magnetic planar IEMs yes it is worth it, the extra power will allow your planar IEMs to scale better, otherwise if you have already efficient IEMs, not much difference
Hi Andy, i'm new to this audio things, you are the reason i bought the KZ ZVX iem, i just wonder for better experience should i pair it with JM04 pro (alc5686) or JM06 pro (cx31993) even JM06 for better price or Are there any different recomendation around 10$ dongle sir?. For ZVX, I would recommend to go for JM6 Pro or at least Abigail Pro, great synergy. For $10 not much choices as they tend to be similar in terms of performance

Haha yeah I was just looking at that now - many postings combine the JM6 with the JM6 Pro as just "options" for the same product but there's a 2x price difference between them, almost 2x power difference, to say nothing of the sad crosstalk spec of only -53 dB for the non-Pro.

I have to wonder if calling this single-chip design "balanced" just because it has better stereo separation and is wired to 4-pole output connectors isn't just marketing. But it's almost certainly *not* worth the same price as the Pro since both have the same stereo separation spec but the Pro also has way more power.

In that case even -60 dB will not be sufficient and something more like -85 dB would be the target (just like for THD+N, where you want at least -85 dB or 0.005%).
how is the sound character of the jcally jm6 pro?

Something interesting that I noticed is that the Abigail and the Meizu mblu Hi-fi DAC share the same Vendor and Product ID, but they have different product names
That would indicate that they have almost if not the same tuning.
Pretty sure they use the same DAC module.

So look for either JM7 or Abigail Pro

incredible analysis I bought the jm6 pro because of its video but I don't know if it is normal that it has a subtle white noise in the background. Any one of them are good, as solid as can be expected of budget dongles
@AndyAudioVault Okay, thank you for the help and the quick response :)
@@AndyAudioVault Thanks for the extremely prompt response! I have been educated.

Cheers

I come from the JM7 and considering to buy the JM6 pro. Should I buy that or should I save up for DC03 pro?
Also what's the difference between DC03 pro and Moondrop Dawn Pro?
I have the IE200, Wan'er and Truthear zero red
From JM7 to JM6 Pro would probably make not much difference. But moving to DC03Pro yes you will hear the improvements. Between DAWN Pro and DC03Pro, the tuning is different where DC03Pro as noted in my review is colored, vibrant and linearly enhanced, DAWN Pro on the other hand is neutral linear without any coloration in the sound frequency. So it depends on what you like, if transparency is what you after, DAWN Pro does it better, but if you prefer dynamic vibrant sound, DC03Pro would be the one
which is the best sounding dongle for iems like TRUTHEAR HEXA or BLON BL03 or TRUTHEAR x CRINACLE ZERO : RED
is it 7HZ 71 or VE ABIGAIL PRO or JCALLY JM6 PRO or MOONDROP CLICK
neutral sounding, wider sound stage, better seperation and imaging among these
They are all very close, even if you will compare all of the ones you mentioned side by side, it will take some serious A-B testing to pick up the differences since all the IEMs you use are natively efficient. But for the sake of choosing one from the bunch, I would go for JM6 Pro simply it has a bit more power to spare just in case you need it (for planars maybe in the future)

@@araakin I'm using a non EU Apple dongle, it's not enough.
@@araakin Volume is a function of dynamic range. We can't have one without the other.
That being said, I remembered I had an older dongle tucked away and tried it with the PR2.

JM6 is really old and borderline obsolete with the aging CS46L41, JM80e is a powerful ES9280AC DAC which is definitely better than JM9, but the JM6E, built on the highly popular and proven CX31993 is a more viable option if your choices are limited to those three. @@Fish-fu7ge Yes JM7 would be best then
@@AndyAudioVault I just got it, but it seems to have lower volume than the apple dongle.

Btw landed here while searching for the KZ AM01 DAC and its performance with respect to the JCALLY jm6pro.
What would be your pick of the two ?
Depending on where you are, look for Oakley Trajectory :D I haven't tried KZ AM01 DAC so I can't say. But you couldn't go wrong with JM6 Pro for sure
Hello Andy, review the Reiyin MCA 1 plz 🙏
I will try that. Thanks!
@@AndyAudioVault Thx. Good video 👍
Go with JM7, that's the later version of CX31993
hello sir, i just wondering what dongle would go good with the Moondrop SSR i have the Jm6 Pro but it too shouty when pair with it, thx you very much
Of you find JM6 Pro bright, then there's not much options that would be suitable, I think you might like JM04Pro which is not so bright
@@AndyAudioVault thx you very much
Which one better between jm 06pro and jm9 (cs46l41)
I have hyperX cloud 2 my point is want more sound stage and good for listening music. What i would choose Or u recommend other dac?
Thanks
I would say JM6 Pro is what you looking for
Hi, which one would you recommend for apple phone? should i get original apple converter or JCALLY JM7? Thanks
Not many designed with iPhone lightning jack so you will need to find one that plugs directly. I stopped using iPhones since 2021 so I have little idea what to recommend really. iPhones just not suitable for music
Which one is better for clarity sir (no include apple dongle)
Except for the older KT and Apple dongle, all of them are equally good with clarity and resolution
AP10 I am not sure will work properly on iPhones, but if it does then perhaps it will work properly with PR2, JM60L, I haven't tried yet so I don't know
@@AndyAudioVault Thanks!
Hi may i know the difference between the ja3 and the abigail pro? im planning on using the ja3 with the truthear hola
JA3 is yet another CX31993 in a different form factor and without any cable, so the sound is pretty much similar to Abigail Pro
Andy cuál recomiendas más para mover hzsound Heart Mirror Zero ¿ Jcally jm10, jcally ap7 o jcally jm6 pro?
For HM, JM6 Pro
hey unfortunatly i bought a jcally JM6 NON pro.... so should i return it? I just needed something a bit powerful for my sennheiser hd 560s that i use on a desktop pc mainly for gaming
If you need power, yes JM6 Pro has it. But try JM6 first and see if you like the output, what matters the most is your DAC will work properly with whatever you use, especially if they are already efficient with power requirements
How does the Jcally JM6 pro compare to the Apple USB-C Dongle for PC usage? Thanks
JM6 Pro is all round a better dongle compared to Apple USB C, better resolution, better power, better balance and better technicalities.
@@AndyAudioVault Thank you!
is there any big difference between jm7, jm6 and cx pro? which one should I use for my tangzu wan'er?
For Wan'Er SQ, practically no difference in sound from any three of them because Wan'Er SG is not very good at scaling with sources. It is already good sounding with any decent DACs.
@@AndyAudioVaultso just buy the cheapest between them right? alright thanks!
@@nar1129 Yes of course
Now i am on edge, should i buy 71 or jm6 pro
I would get JM6Pro. Especially if you can get the bargain price under $10 (not all sellers sell that sort of price)
hello Andy! I’m using iPhone 11 Pro it doesn’t have a type C which DAC should I get?
The older iPhones using Lightning USB has very limited options unfortunately. I think you can find JCally JM08 with Lightning option and that would be a good dongle
Jm6 pro with 7hz salnotes dioko how it will perform.. ❤?
Is there a big difference with jcally ja3 to jcally jm6 pro? Planning to upgrade .
Humans taste and preferences can differ vastly from one person to another
Can you recommend best dongle for simgot em6l?
Came here late but idk which dac should i get, im using dunu titan S
For Titan S, from this ultra compact dongles I would recommend JM7
It is the JCally JM6 Pro then!
JM7 compared to Cx-pro? , does it make too much of a difference? I'm thinking of upgrading CX-pro to JM7
Not so much really. If you want to upgrade from CX-Pro, best to look for 4.5 Star rated dongles as shown on my primary site
I thought it would be jm6 4.4 balance. It has different chip as i remember.
But does jm6 pro still equal to abigail pro?
Abigail Pro uses the non Amp CX31993 version, JM6Pro is using the one with amp module. So they are different
Hello, loves your videos and blog too. It's really helpful since I'm new to these audiophile things
Anyway, I ordered a KZ PR2 planar and Jcally JM6t which is new and more like jm6 but t shaped usb-c connector kinda with an Output Voltage: of 28.2mW @ 32Ω provided information.
@@AndyAudioVault Ah I see, JM6 pro has that power amplifier which needed for planar iems I suppose.
Thanks for the explanation again
Jm6pro + 7hz salnotes dioko = how is the performance?
It is good, the synergy is good, the sound itself sounded full and immersive
How about kz am01? since it is using the same chip and amp like jm6 pro with lower price
I have AM01 here but haven't tried it yet, but very soon I will make a review on it
Would any of these increase the sound of my mic? I have a v moda boom pro and on my motherboard it stays low...
I don't think they will increase the sound on MIC side, they are pretty much straight forward basic MIC capable
@@AndyAudioVault I had a sharkoon dac pro S but it died
Hi
Is worth getting a JM6 pro/lifeme dongle if you already have normal Abigail?
If you are driving magnetic planar IEMs yes it is worth it, the extra power will allow your planar IEMs to scale better, otherwise if you have already efficient IEMs, not much difference
Hi Andy, i'm new to this audio things, you are the reason i bought the KZ ZVX iem, i just wonder for better experience should i pair it with JM04 pro (alc5686) or JM06 pro (cx31993) even JM06 for better price or Are there any different recomendation around 10$ dongle sir?. Thank you for all the precise analytics review.
For ZVX, I would recommend to go for JM6 Pro or at least Abigail Pro, great synergy. For $10 not much choices as they tend to be similar in terms of performance
