Writings of British officials at the time indicate they were hoping for what they called an Ulster of the East type of colony under the control of the West. The way things developed in Palestine the Ulster in the East is a more correct analogy than colonialism in the US because the Palestinian population in the area has been a sizeable one in relation to the Jewish one whereas the Native population in the US has been reduced to less than 2% overall and marginalized to reservations. Initially, America's input into the matter was nonexistent with the British in control, although the US has been left holding the bag as of late given their support for the Zionist cause in Israel and Britain's status as a middle power only.
One state solution is what exists today. Suggesting a one state solution is turning a blind eye to black, latin and the indigenous people mentioned throughout the book and interview today's so called democratic america, and other heirs of settler colonialism in the world (Australia, Latin America, Caribbean... So on) where the children and grand children of settlers are the ones getting educated instead of arrested. Assisted by police instead of being murd3red by it, etc.
There was never a country called Palestine. Only a region with Arabs and Jews. In 1884 there were 60,000 Jews in the region. You cannot colonize a region younm already live.
"states" as we know today are European creation. The whole region was divided by Europe, that's why.. before that there were empires, califates. You seem to have been educated through internet comments. So add these two lines to your knowledge.
@@elektrarj2 some people are still trying to square a circle. Jews, Muslims, and Christians lived in peace until Zionists Theodor Herzel, Ben-Gurion et al had a plan to shift Palestinians off of their own land. They never truly desired a just partition, they just used that to be sneaky and duplicitous about it. Too late. The world sees the genocide going on.
Don't be stupid. Using 'you' in two completely different senses (the ones who live there, and the ones outside who have the same ethnicity as those who live there) renders that argument nothing more than a bumper sticker slogan status at best. This is thinking lesson one for toddlers. There are, for example, chinese people living in the USA. Does that mean that chinese people have the right to come in and take over the US? (By the way, that reasoning closely resembles the argument of the Nazi regime when it incorporated parts of Tchekoslovakia and Austria.)
