Still first review up. Well done. I'm thinking of getting rid of my hornet 750 and Ninja1000sx and just buying this instead as it seems to do everything I need and I'm finding it hard to justify having 2 bikes.agrea about the dash though.

I’ve been waiting for a review on this bike and to get up on a Sunday morning, flat white and you in front of me couldn’t come at a better time. Great review, my scrambler xe is worried so is my credit card 🍻
Totally agree…one of the worst screens ever…since this is a new release, why not use the same display style etc that are in the 900 and 1200, etc….also looks massively cheap and not Triumph like.
Triumph really lost their way with displays these past years. This one deserved a better display. All other manufacturer do better in that regards, even lower range bikes.
How would the bike be at all better with a TFT display? The entire bike world has been brainwashed into thinking that a smartphone screen is somehow better than anything else. Fuck it, tell me when someone sells a bike with a beautiful analog tachometer styled after a mid 2000's Aston Martin. That would be some good shit, not a goddamn $50 display.
It took them 4 years to progress from the 660 so I won't hold my breath. They could adapt the old 1050 or reconfigure the 1200 so there are options but I imagine they'd want to maximise sales of this version before they consider something bigger. In the meantime, for £1k extra one could opt for the popular, new ninja 1100 for fast two up touring. 🤔
I asked - they said there's no way the 1200 lump will fit in this frame. But never say never, I reckon. If Yamaha can pull their finger out and make an MT-10 powered Tracer 10, we could have a cracking selection of touring bikes…

I was going to ask you which you preferred between the two but you've answered that in your review. I test rode the 900GT Pro and absolutely loved it. Very good review! I have a deposit down on this bike that should be arriving in march but the jury has been out until now. I own the tiger sport 660 RS. I add the RS because I’ve done a lot to improve its performance, which I won’t go into here, and make it the bike it should have been from the factory. I love my 660 but have been telling triumph for the past two years that they needed a bigger motor in the same touring package as the 660 and they seem to have answered the call. I still have to ride the new bike before I finalize the deal but from what I see here I think I’m sold. I have no problem with the display on the 660 and actually like the simplicity. I would upgrade the new bike with EBC’s as well. it does make a difference. I’ll have to ride the new bike to determine if the stock suspension is up to snuff because I did go to Nitron on my 660 and it made a huge difference. Hopefully the new bike’s suspension has been beefed up and can be dialed in to fit my weight and a passenger. How was first gear, was it usable? According to Peter Stevens Triumph Adelaide the cost is just over $21,000 as I've just paid for mine and awaiting delivery. Wanted the 660 Tiger Sport (which I'd paid for) but was told only 2 are being brought into Australia at 81 horse power (lime green), the rest are to be LAM's (direct from Triumph Australia's directors mouth). If you want the 660 Tiger Sport de-regulated, you will loose your 2 year warranty.
@@ashleyralston9142Triumph stuffed this up. We (NZ and Australia) needed the 80bhp 660 when there was no alternative. Now, everyone will just buy the 800, so we don't need the 80bhp 660...
@ I was with Mark (sale man Peter Stevens Adelaide) when we both had an argument with the CEO Triumph Australia over the phone. We both got nowhere. It's Triumph Australia's decision all 660 Tiger Sports coming into Australia will be learner LAM's, Trident's and Daytona 660 will come as both 50/50. Only the Tiger Sport 660 is to be restricted to LAMs (all but the 1st 2). I've been riding since 1975 and hold my advanced drivers licence (motorcycle) and instructors licence. So why do I need a LAM's machine, warranty YES. So I agree I was forced to the 800 Tiger Sport but after watching this video I may have made a good decision.
@@ashleyralston9142 I'd by the 800 for the upgraded brakes, suspension, bigger fuel tank, and extra body bits. Plus, the center stand option. The extra BHP is merely a bonus.
@@RacingAnt That's what I went for in the end. Plus the top box and panniers. I've also asked for radiator cover (Triumph don't have it yet) plus front crash bars like those on the Triumph 900. Again neither are available YET. As I live out in the South Australian bush the radiator cover for the dirt roads is a must. Plenty of tarmac roads but a lot of dirt ones to that I have to put up with. Comes with the territory. With trade in I'll be in the plus that's for sure.
Bit of a letdown that Triumph haven’t fitted this bike with a proper TFT and Brembo calipers, when the 85 hp Tiger 850 Sport have both things and cost about the same.
I beg to differ on the display, it’s got the in-between display from street tripple rs and it’s horrible in my experience both to read from and navigate menus. As for brakes, eh, as long as it feels good and got good power - Brembo branding alone doesn’t guarantee that.
IMPO it seems obvious to me, that they'll release an RS version later this year with the TFT from the Street Triple RS and its Stylema brakes. That will be the one to wait for.
Great review, looks to be the bike I will be replacing my 07 Tiger 1050 with. Gotta disagree with you on the comment about the front wheel being unfashionable in being a 17". Its just what so many of us have been waiting for from Triumph. A good upright sport tourer for the road. They haven't had one since the demise of the 1050 sport. Yes I know there's the 660 sport but lets face it, it is a bit short on power. 110-120 hp is perfect for this sort of bike.
Aren’t we odd, Tim not keen on the two tone colour of the engine whereas it’s a selling point for me as it reminds me of my 2008 Blade that I use to ride . The build quality and design shares many likeness to the Hondas I’ve owned, I’d swear if you stuck a Honda badge on the 800 it would fool some people 😂
Great review. I would love to ride out there. Looks like Triumph wants folks to have 2 nice directions to upgrade triple enthusiasts from the 660. I have owned a Street Triple RS for 2 years and it looks like a tuned down version of that bike, with lower seating, better 2 up function, easier luggage upgrades, and more stout wind screen . All things that would make for a more rounded Street Triple with just a bit of sacrifice for handling, braking, and power. I think it's a nice fit to the lineup.
Been wanting to see a review of this bike, as it is a nice looking bike, good to hear it rides as well as it looks. Though have to say what were triumph thinking with that screen. That puts me off buying it, but would like to do a test ride.
I love my Tiger 660 for many things, and have the XSR 900 for pleasure rides. I was looking at the tracer 900 to replace the 660. Yamaha CP3 motor is great but the Tracer is just so ugly that I can't do it. Seeing that this 800 is the 660 with more power, there won't be any hesitation when it's released. I think because of the smaller motor many didn't even think of giving the 660 a try and that's unfortunate, this 800 is gonna be on a lot of top 10 lists in December.
Nice to see the first reviews coming through. Here’s a question Tim, currently own a Tiger 900 RP, used to own a ST765RS which I loved so I’m wondering seeing as I never go off-road and all my stuff is on the roads, days out and the odd long weekend touring. Do you think the Tiger 800 Sport would be the better bike over a 2024 Tiger 900 RP for someone who just does roads and the odd tour?
Cracking review! They should have let you out on track with it, see how it faired at higher speeds. I guess it would do it quite admirably although not really what its design brief was about. 👍🏼👌🏼😎
Oohh, my TS660 is due an MOT this March, now I'm tempted to chop it in for its bigger brother in spring. Just dont tell the Mrs (will she notice my red bike has turned yellow?)
Here in the U.S., we are not scheduled to receive the Hornet ... bummer. My friend is thinking of trading off his 660 for the better touring chops of the new 800. Anyone know the revs at 70mph/110kph?
As i wrote when it was first announce, it's the replacement for us who bought the Tracer 900 Mk1...still a £4Grand price increase since 2018 though, thanks renters!
Hi Tim, thanks for your video. I am agree with that you are saying. People buying SUVs, but all you need is sport-tourer or tourer. If you never leave paved roads, 17' just make more sense and provide better fun on the road. I have both, Tiger 660 and Tracer 9. Both fantastic bikes, 800 looks interesting upgrade for Tiger, but it makes it close to Tracer 9. But Tracer 9 is bigger, can handle two riders, has better dash (2025), better front light and overall seems like more capable bike. But I guess Triumph design is better looking.
Also i believe the tracer 9 GT comes with panniers as standard for not much more than this. No doubt like usual triumph will charge about 1k for the pannier pack which takes it will above the OTR price of this tiger 800.
The new Tracer 9 GT is £14350, so £3350 more than this. Looks like there are deals on the old T9 GT at £11216, but one of the journos on this event has one and said the Tiger can hustle harder without getting squirrelly
great review, beautiful bike. The triple howl is just different and sounds awesome. Had me interested as a replacement for my current Trident. I want to upgrade to something a tad bigger, more touring oriented. Was eyeing this or the 900 GT pro.. will have to sit properly on them, but for a pillion the 900 seems a lil more comfortable. Though this is more stylish.. methinks.. Oh spring, just come quicker!!
Great review Tim, and the first one out. Don’t suppose anyone on the test did any two up riding did they? Just waiting for confirmation that it will be comfy for the missus then I’m having my name down for one.👍
Sadly not - it’s quite hard to do on a launch, you’re all in a convoy on quite a long route, so would require leaving someone’s bike behind. A test for when they’re in the UK I feel
How does it compare with the MT you owned in terms of engine feel and revs at highway speeds? I have a couple of triumphs and really want to like this one, but even the screen on the Tiger 850 sport (which I don't particularly care for) is better than what they have on the new Tiger 800 sport. You are spot on in getting users to accept the concept that an 800 sport is probably more realistic in terms of what riders need. I have and love the Tiger 850 sport, but I find myself doing 95% of my riding on road where at speeds of 85mph plus (toll speeds) the 888 triple gets a tad buzzy.
Yea, that display.... I said it about the 660 Sport too. It really is a big negative for me, and given it is something you use a lot, it must be better. But also, that front brake reservoir. It's just cost saving, nothing more or less. Which is really disappointing, because I love everything else about this bike. I will test ride it. I've had an MT09 SP for 2 years now and I think I'd like to start doing some touring.

dat dash dough.... Is it nice all rounder including commuting/Citty riding?
Hi Tim, really enjoyed the video thanks. Just wondering what you'd choose as a do it all bike, so commuting, touring, a few track days, between the tiger sport 800 and a kawasaki 1000sx? Cheers
Good review, I'll add it to the list of possible replacements for my Honda Crossrunner for 2025, currently planning to look at the new Hornet, and the GSX, and the Tracer. Did you mention the electronics package at all and i missed it?
I did mention it in the walkaround - it's your usual lean sensitive ABC/TC, along with a standard up/down quickshifter and also standard-fit cruise control. Heated grips optional, 3 riding modes etc.
Buen video gracias. Saludos desde Chile.
I had a trident and enjoyed it. This looks perfect for what I want now. More power better brakes better suspension and an ability to adjust it. I want to tour but also have something that I can give some herbs to on a spirited group ride or just an early morning fang. I will get the cosmic yellow one. The new tracer is uglier than a mandrils bum.
Good review. Beautiful bike....but yes, all bikes need a rectangular tft display with several display options. It can't be that hard....once you get it right all your bikes over £10k can use it.
Bodes well if they do a Trident 800, & saying that as an owner of a T300 900, keeping it in the family - how would you compare the motor versus the Tiger 900 GT, and the Street Triple R Tim? And as sports tourers go vs BMW R1250RS and Guzzi V100?
Terrific review- on the top of my list of bikes to buy this year. So disappointed w/the dash tho- should've been a modern TFT. Outside of that, looks to be a terrific ride.
HI Tim had my street triple 765rs for three years now , Great bike just too much air chucked at you but the performance is great , do you think i would be happy with a tiger 800 as a all rounder bike cheers great review
Excellent! Been waiting for this Tim. I had the 660 for a while but having to change up from 1st before I’d even got off the drive got on my nerves! Is this better in that respect?
Great review Tim thanks a lot. What about the headlight is it the one on one off asymmetrical lighting pattern or is it like the old 800 with both lights on?
How stable is the bike on the highway speeds compared to bikes like africa twin or bmw gs?? I am interested in buying this bike but would be doing mostly long trips on highway with it
Did Honda just come along and piss on everybody’s chips with the Hornet 1000 SP? Yes please Triumph build that 1200, and I’ll trade my 1200 GT Pro for one…… Two fingered 😂❤
I got to say you rocked my plans a little.. I am riding 660 for 2 years now, and I wanted to up to 900gt or even 1200gt.. I'm a bit bigger than you (6 feet 6 and 110kg), I fit perfectly on 660, but I wanted a bigger bike for myself and also 2 up. What do you think, should I upgrade to 800 sport now, and then lets see about 1200 later on? I dont crave too much power, but I will have a bit more time for touring in the coming years.. cheers!
Those who ride adventure motorcycles with spoke wheels solely on the street could not care less about handling. What do I think about this Tiger Sport 800 as a Triumph fanboy and Street triple and Speed Triple owner? It is Triumph's Porsche Cayenne. I have no personal interest but if it means more money to develop future RS models (like Cayenne funded GT models) I hope Triumph sells loads of it!
If it had better dash and more premium switch gear obviously be bit more expensive but I'd more likely buy one. Cos loved my 765 Street. Currently got a Tracer 900gt it's nice but prefer Triumph brand. Also have a Speed 1200rs
Love the look of this bike. Ive been touring for some time with an MT10, do you think this would be a fun enough replacement? I'm the same height as you. Best my Mk1 MT10 has done is 38mpg.
It depends, the fun with this bike is in agility and corner speed. It doesn’t have the mad power and corner-exit wheelies of an MT10! But you’d still have fun on it
Soooo, as a Street Triple 765 owner, is it a Street with a fairing? I tour on mine and have sometimes thought it would be nice to have a bit of weather protection.
It doesn't feel quite as agile as a Street Triple, and when it hits a bump in the middle of a fast corner it get a little more unsettled than a Street Trip would. But I'd say it's 90% of the way there... but I'm a big fan of touring on naked bikes to be honest!
@timrodierides cheers. I'll be test riding one, when I can. I just love my 2018 765R. She's been to the Picos, Wales, Scotland, Isle of Wight etc and always been enjoyable. The only bike that would make me change is, a Street with a fairing. Thanks for your review, it had me smiling and chuckling away.
Quite honestly, I"ve owned loads of Triumph triples. The Street triple is an amazing bike, but unless you do track days, or ride ultra aggressively, I reckon the 800 will be just as much fun and you'll be able to sit at 130kmh comfortably on motorways for long periods. I've ordered the 800!
@@tonydare7614thanks. I had a 1050 Sprint ST, which I loved, but wrote it off. Got the Street and absolutely love it. It's the sound, feel and power to weight that I can't find anything to beat. I even get decent fuel range as mine has the 17.4lt tank. All it needs is a fairing. I'll test ride the 800, then see if it still gives me that feeling.
Hi mate, I know the roads are silky smooth where you did the test but how do you think it will cope with our crappy UK roads? Also it would be good to get an understanding on how it is for a pillion and whether its cramped or has enough space 2 up... Thoughts?
I didn’t get the chance to stick anyone on the back sadly. Triumphs tend to do well on UK roads, I was chatting to their Spanish development rider and they do seek out rubbish roads in Spain when doing their development work. Will have to wait and see but it felt pretty compliant
@@awesomeagnihotrisvlog I think you’d enjoy the switch. Riding position isn’t quite as commanding as on your Tiger, but the new 800 Sport is a more fun road bike

Great review , good to see you point out weak points like 😊dash etc
Bit of a letdown that Triumph haven’t fitted this bike with a proper TFT and Brembo calipers, when the 85 hp Tiger 850 Sport have both things and cost about the same.
I beg to differ on the display, it’s got the in-between display from street tripple rs and it’s horrible in my experience both to read from and navigate menus. As for brakes, eh, as long as it feels good and got good power - Brembo branding alone doesn’t guarantee that.
Yeah, and had 30 less BHP. Tiger 660 power...
I'll put up with an ugly dash and own brand brakes for 30bhp and a road oriented chassis...
IMPO it seems obvious to me, that they'll release an RS version later this year with the TFT from the Street Triple RS and its Stylema brakes. That will be the one to wait for.
And if they do then I think that’ll be the perfect bike for me…
What a lovely bike! Thanks for the review. Subscribed.
Great review, Tim... I NEED to test ride that now!
A triumph by Triumph it seems 👏👏👏
Great review, is this the new VFR800?
The Yamaha Tracer 9 comes in at 213 kg wet, 9 gt's weight includes panniers and center stand.
great review, beautiful bike.
Excellent thanks Tim, I’m thinking about chopping in my Tiger 1200 GT Pro for one of these.
PS Congratulations on being the first to get a review up!
Nice one Tim,cheers 🍻
There’s a Elephant in the room , I like the Triumph but the Honda hornet is £2000 pound cheaper 😊👍
Hi Tim, really enjoyed the video thanks.
Just wondering what you'd choose as a do it all bike, so commuting, touring, a few track days, between the tiger sport 800 and a kawasaki 1000sx? Cheers
I have a 09 plate 1050,and absolutely love it. Had from new. Should I px? £ 11,000,And will the finnish be as good?🤔
Be interesting to compare with a 2020/2021 Tiger 1050 sport🤔
I remember being given an orange Tiger 1050 with a TOR can as a courtesy bike back in 2010 and I loved it…
I have a 2020 revised Tiger 1050 Sport and think the new 800 is the spiritual successor
Why is everyone forgetting the mv turismo 800? Would like a comparison, may even need a test ride...
Cheers. What about heat radiation from the engine? However, it seems it may have been too cold there for getting a feel for it.
Are you the first?
Great stuff and has me excited to potentially get one this year.
I’m the first but by no means the best 😅
Is it a Street Triple for touring?
Good review, I'll add it to the list of possible replacements for my Honda Crossrunner for 2025, currently planning to look at the new Hornet, and the GSX, and the Tracer. Did you mention the electronics package at all and i missed it?
I did mention it in the walkaround - it's your usual lean sensitive ABC/TC, along with a standard up/down quickshifter and also standard-fit cruise control. Heated grips optional, 3 riding modes etc.
@@timrodierides Excellent, thanks for the prompt reply :)
Buen video gracias. Saludos desde Chile.
It's a much prettier bike than the Tracer 9, but you're right about the Fisher-Price screen.
To another mandril, it is a thing of beauty and infinite allure.
Great review!
Hey Triumph , the 1980's called they want their dash back
HI Tim had my street triple 765rs for three years now , Great bike just too much air chucked at you but the performance is great , do you think i would be happy with a tiger 800 as a all rounder bike cheers great review
Are you going on the 2025 tracer 9 launch as a comparison would be great there the two bikes I would be interested in.
How stable is the bike on the highway speeds compared to bikes like africa twin or bmw gs?? I am interested in buying this bike but would be doing mostly long trips on highway with it
Feels perfectly stable to me, but I'm not sure I've never felt a bike that feels unstable riding in a straight line?!
@timrodierides i did on my maxi scooter...but only in some short moments when you get some wind blasts...
Great video, I want one!
Needs a better TFT and Brembos. OEM heated seat option would be nice.
How is the pillion seat? Overall: Street triple R or this one, which will you choose, considering price to overall experience?
Thanks
Did Honda just come along and piss on everybody’s chips with the Hornet 1000 SP?
Yes please Triumph build that 1200, and I’ll trade my 1200 GT Pro for one……
Two fingered 😂❤
It looks like the two riders in front aren't really feeling it in the damp conditions and you're itching to get past them!? Good review BTW 🙂
I felt feistier than usual!
I dont crave too much power, but I will have a bit more time for touring in the coming years.. cheers!
Looks decent. A 1000 - 1200 version with an actual pillion seat to replace the GT Pro please!
Great review Tim, would you take this over a Ninja sx?
How does it compare to the Tiger 900 GT?
Great bike I’m sure but what were they thinking with that dash?
Which one, this bike or a Honda CB1000 Hornet?
Nice one. Made me want to test ride one.
Those who ride adventure motorcycles with spoke wheels solely on the street could not care less about handling. What do I think about this Tiger Sport 800 as a Triumph fanboy and Street triple and Speed Triple owner? It is Triumph's Porsche Cayenne. I have no personal interest but if it means more money to develop future RS models
(like Cayenne funded GT models) I hope Triumph sells loads of it!
Dash would be rubbish on a £6,000 bike so on an £11,000 bike its a deal breaker.
Hi Tim, where was this filmed please roads look good, 😎💥
@@MrPmunson123 Portugal - just north of Faro and Loule
If it had better dash and more premium switch gear obviously be bit more expensive but I'd more likely buy one. Cos loved my 765 Street. Currently got a Tracer 900gt it's nice but prefer Triumph brand. Also have a Speed 1200rs
I pick this over the tracer 9. Tracer has become too bulky. Engine sounds great. Don't really care about tft etc anymore on my bikes.
Awesome. I am looking for a good 2up bike
I was in that coffee stop on Friday roads are nicer when it’s dry
Hi mate, I know the roads are silky smooth where you did the test but how do you think it will cope with our crappy UK roads? Also it would be good to get an understanding on how it is for a pillion and whether its cramped or has enough space 2 up... Thoughts?
I didn’t get the chance to stick anyone on the back sadly. Triumphs tend to do well on UK roads, I was chatting to their Spanish development rider and they do seek out rubbish roads in Spain when doing their development work. Will have to wait and see but it felt pretty compliant
@@timrodierides Thanks buddy.. Keep up the great content :)
The moment you said the mt10 is the best touring bike 😂😂😂, really !
Im not one to really care about dash displays, a bike doesnt even need TFT but that is absolutely awful.
Iam on tiger 800xrx ( 2016) you think a switch over is worth it ?( Iam 99/ percent on Tarmac)
@@awesomeagnihotrisvlog I think you’d enjoy the switch. Riding position isn’t quite as commanding as on your Tiger, but the new 800 Sport is a more fun road bike
You can always plan a test ride buddy
