Just watched a skit where John Mulaney is a drag queen waitress at this restaurant where two couples go and they enjoy the comments but he’s really hard on one in particular. Then I watch this and I think they definitely used this as a baseline
It's also just a common trope, sitcom tv shows used to do it all the time, "hey my cousin is coming down to visit I hope you like him" cousin shows up and is nice to everyone expect main character and then side characters get mad and confused when main character brings it up.
Yeah but it’s based on the same restaurant so it’s pretty similar. But Mulaney’s took it a step further.

As a professional chef with 17yrs of handcrafting big-ass Biscuits for you hungry, hungry heathens; I can safely say that the commanding performance of 'Katniss Everdeen' brought me tears of Joy..
..and arousal.

did you not listen,, they said it was suppose to be an example of a 1950s restaurant..europe is where you get rude service, not the usa.. especially in the 1950 these jobs were held by bubbly respectable high school girls..children wanted to work, and respected adults.. who wrote this complete false narrative..if you would have said 2018 it would have made at least some sense..

OMG, glad to see I’m not the only one who thought of that lovely gem while watching this. I used to go there every year on my family’s annual road trip to see my grandmother. Nice to hear it still exists and I hope it survives the pandemic.
I remember that I and a bunch of my friends use to go to this place called The Corner Dinner in Carbondale IL. It was a great place to get some coffee or a good meal. Seems like forever ago now those days.
Reminds me of "You Can't Do That On Television," especially the coughing on the food.

That honestly feels like a bad idea. They have to be good insults and in a joking tone not just incredibly cruel. Kinda ruins the fun of it if they aren't actually funny. Just my opinion though.
