“When was the last time someone smiled cause you walked into a room? I can’t imagine anyone deriving joy from seeing such an overprivileged, husk of a shallow human being. OKERRR!”
When I was 15 and on vacation abroad with my stepfather and a school friend, we went out to dinner where there was a drag comedian on show and spotting us instantly (we were the only foreigners) they called on me and asked me who I was with. I told him I was with my friend and my father, to which they asked where my mother was and I responded with "she's at home with her boyfriend". Which was absolutely true as my stepfather and mother had been seperated. It really threw the drag comedian off guard but gave them so much to work with.
Never... No one I've ever met smiled simply cause I walked in the room. Happy to see me flying hug wrapping there whole body around me yes... But notta on the smile.
In México we have similar, the difference is waiters go to the back of restaurant to make fun of you, pointing fingers and laughing. That´s how I ended crying over my burrito.
@@impresoskairos4286 its one thing to get made fun of to your face, but behind ur back? thats pathetic and those waiters should be ashamed of themselves.
does anyone else feel like the ending just sort of ruins the sketch? it'd be so much funnier if the drag queen was just callous to this one guy for no reason
@ABCx 1234 well actually the kind of queens from rupauls drag race are a very small percentage of the drag queens in the REAL world. Most of them are exactly like this. Which you would know if you knew anything about actual drag culture 😘
Sašo M yeah because it's a live show and he needed to be able to change quickly into his next outfit for his next scene. Once again, I was making a joke. I know that didn't take him 4 hours. It doesn't take me 4 hours either. I was making a joke.
Briar Bear that’s been my biggest complaint with SNL from any season. The forced wrap ups. Most sketch comedy also suffers the same problem. The sad flip side is the sketch comedies that just end on the joke are labeled as “underground” or something
I love the way Cecily says "Ok, but that's it for the day" after Alex says he might cry. Like he's the friend that cries all the time and they're sick of tolerating it lol.
I wish it got darker and just kept going lol. I also wish the twist was that John was Gary’s dad and there was a whole “your dad never loved you” thing.
given that the sketches are usually a few minutes long, it seems like they try their best to go somewhere with the premise, as oppose to just having the same joke the entire time
This sketch never gets old. John Mulaney is consitently gold in SNL sketches; I think they're realising now that he would've been an epic cast member. I can imagine him becoming a member of the Five Timers' Club before too long.
The sketch was ruined when he revealed himself. It should have been left the way it was running with that great pattern of getting serious with the one character and quickly going back to drag queen. When he went dark with "Gary" it was great and should have ended like that ...
At first I couldn't figure out who this guy reminds me of but then it hit me.....roger from american dad.Even his walk and limp wrist reminds me of roger.
@Red Stilletto And American Dad's Roger character is clearly referencing 1970's celebriry Paul Lind. For the origin beyond that, now I kinda want to go seek out a Paul Lind bio.
"You never worked for anything in your life. You had everything handed to you. The one thing you haven't been able to purchase is a personality, a soul" "When was the last time someone smiled cause you walked into a room? I can’t imagine anyone deriving joy from seeing such an overprivileged, husk of a shallow human being. "
That contour could be done in a minute or less, I can guarantee it didn’t take him four hours to do that lmao. Drag makeup like that is just left basically unblended so it actually takes less time to do that than a more subtle, natural looking contour bc you have to make sure it’s blended properly instead of just painting a brown stripe on your face lmao.
Aleksandr Boylan I live in a small town so our only gay bar burned down 😢 We do have drag events sometimes where they come down from bigger cities but it's once, maybe twice a year
What a shame. That kinda fizzled out. I swear the sketches that I catch start strong but don't end well. Except Black Jeopardy. It starts cringey and seems to end on a high note everytime.
I feel like I'm the only one that enjoyed the ending. He did all of that to get his 'revenge' but once the guy ordered he resorted back to his ways of taking the boss's orders and once realizing it he delivered the "dammit!" And it cracked me up 😂😂
Lisa Riv yeah but the Lawrence one was weak altogether. No offense to her, it’s just there wasn’t a big enough hook. She was just a waitress who hated a person for no reason. At least this had a pretty funny beginning and middle.
They always seem to have trash endings on these Mulaney sketches I don’t get it. He always writes some amazing shit and the ending feels either disappointing or bad
