It’s highly unlikely that the money would have been returned to the person who dropped it. The store employees, in all likelihood, would have pocketed the cash themselves at the end of their shift. If I dropped $50 it would be my fault for not being more diligent with keeping up with my own money and I would just hope that it was a blessing to whoever happened to find it. I would not want someone put in a chokehold and assaulted because of MY carelessness!

We had steps for found money when I worked at convenience stores. 1st the person who founded has the option of keeping it or they can turn it over to the store where we will put it into the safe for a predetermined amount of time that is told to the person that. If no one comes in to claim it in that amount of time then the finder gets it. Also not just anybody can come and say oh I heard you have money here it's mine know they must know certain details as in daytime denomination and other factors that would make a sure that we knew it was them also we would check or videotape to see if they dropped it then the person claiming it must give us ID. This was just handled totally wrong. I believe the employee just wanted the money for herself!
False imprisonment is a crime also, plus she was assaulted by two people, one with hands on her neck and the other who tried to restrain her arm. We learn in kindergarten to keep our hands to ourself. This is unacceptable.

Since most people commenting on here don’t seem to grasp the facts of the situation, I will try to explain it simply. If you find money that isn’t yours laying on the floor of a place of business (private property), you have no right to take it any more than you would have the right to take money off the floor at someone else’s home. That is theft pure and simple. This ‘innocent old lady’ was caught in the act committing theft. Once she did that, she lost all right to claim being the victim. While the employees may have been excessive in handling the situation, the situation never would’ve happened had she not committed the crime (or at least attempted to commit the crime) in the first place. The moral here should be not to touch with is not yours, but instead it is being cast as: play the the victim and throw in the race card because blacks are always the victim.

She had the right to defend her self to attempt escape. If the employees were in the right, they wouldn't have been fired. If someone kidnaps you, you have to right to "attack".
We had steps for found money when I worked at convenience stores. 1st the person who founded has the option of keeping it or they can turn it over to the store where we will put it into the safe for a predetermined amount of time that is told to the person that. If no one comes in to claim it in that amount of time then the finder gets it. Also not just anybody can come and say oh I heard you have money here it's mine know they must know certain details as in daytime denomination and other factors that would make a sure that we knew it was them also we would check or videotape to see if they dropped it then the person claiming it must give us ID. This was just handled totally wrong. I believe the employee just wanted the money for herself!
False imprisonment is a crime also, plus she was assaulted by two people, one with hands on her neck and the other who tried to restrain her arm. We learn in kindergarten to keep our hands to ourself. This is unacceptable.

He tried to give me a ticket for tints too dark!!! His very young partner KNEW he was wrong based on his response of high pitch saying “there’s nothing here” yes they searched my car and tried to ticket me for tints that were not dark at all! Young cop said NOTHING! he let that man violate me and my rights!

Since most people commenting on here don’t seem to grasp the facts of the situation, I will try to explain it simply.
If you find money that isn’t yours laying on the floor of a place of business (private property), you have no right to take it any more than you would have the right to take money off the floor at someone else’s home. That is theft pure and simple. This ‘innocent old lady’ was caught in the act committing theft. Once she did that, she lost all right to claim being the victim. While the employees may have been excessive in handling the situation, the situation never would’ve happened had she not committed the crime (or at least attempted to commit the crime) in the first place.
The moral here should be not to touch with is not yours, but instead it is being cast as: play the the victim and throw in the race card because blacks are always the victim.

This is crazy 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️!! This is a very small country town with a population of like 400. My family is rooted in Industry and my brother and I still have property up there. This woman probably knows my family. That's how small this town is. And Lindemann's is the main store in the area that EVERYbody goes. It's so ironic because that area people are familiar with everybody. At the same time, the bigotry is still there unfortunately. But for this to happen at that store the way it did is so f'd up because of the dynamic of that small town!! 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ That's f'd up for real!! I'm sharing this with my family.

Thank you for airing this family’s story. I’m so tired of automatically being guilty because I’m Black. Police don’t care about my safety. I’ve never been arrested. I’ve never done anything wrong but I’ve spent my entire life in fear of being treated like this family was treated. Two times I was followed home by police because I was black, driving a nice car in a nice neighborhood. My car and in my neighborhood. 🤦🏽♀️

Granny had her reason(s) for keeping the money, I was brought up to do things the right way according to Biblical principles. These youngsters had no right to put their hands on granny (or anyone else) it was wrong.
Clearly they have no respect for the elderly or anyone else. Whoever this deputy is that responded to the incident has no sense of logical thinking. Clearly he did not listen to both sides attentively and acted hasteful with no wisdom.

They were actually trying to rob her of that $50 bill she found. She's not legally obligated to give anyone the $ but the police department and after the required time it would be given to her if not claimed
Exactly! She found it on the floor and they immediately attacked her as if she was shop lifting or robbed the damn cashier! It's none of their business. Locking her in and calling the police? For what?? Last I checked it wasn't illegal to pick up money u found on the floor.
