My daughter once brought home a very sickly stray cat. We took her to the vet and paid for her medical bills. She was chippped, so we contacted the owner who was an elderly woman. She was so grateful to have her cat back (she had lost her months esrlier). We started becoming attached to the sweet cat, but we knew returning her was the right thing to do. I'm glad this dog is back with her rightful owner.

My grandmother as an adult was a retired nurse but not the nice kind. She was the type that popped pills on shift and got wasted when she got home. She could seem sweet and nice at times but had a real dark side and could get nasty when ticked. She passed away in 2016. Few people folks attended her wake.

As far as the older lady goes, her face was priceless when the reporter showed her the FB post from Mouse's owner 5 months earlier. It's pretty obvious who the actuall owner really is. You can just see the difference in the dog with either women. With the old lady, he wasn't looking too enthusiastic, didn't look like he cared too much, but then with the black woman, his tail was wagging and he was licking her face, so i think the dog was hers before i even finished the video.

The term "service" when referring to an animal used to mean something. It was a title given to animals that have actually been trained to perform the duties that their particular breed are best known for performing. (Seeing-eye dogs, seizure-anticipating dogs, drug-sniffing dogs, etc.) Hell, I once saw a dachshund sniff out a bag of* oranges that a woman was trying to bring from Costa Rica to the states.
But, people have Really mucked up the system by putting "service animal" labels on pets simply bc they feel like their pets are "like their babies".

this is why my dog is microchipped, registered, and aways wears his tags. not everybody does due diligence If they find a dog at-large... lots just take them home and keep it.
I chipped my cats when I got them from the shelter. It never occurs to people to take a found kitten or cat to be checked for a chip!!!

He was a rescue, and we tried hard to make things work, but he didn't get along with the dog we already had, so we decided to let a young man "borrow" him for a couple of weeks to see how it would work out. That same man, who we had heard good things about and thought was reliable, refused to return the dog when we decided that he wasn't a fit owner, and sold him off to God-knows-who. We have no idea where our dog is, and the microchip won't have any significance until a vet scans it and calls us. Two years and still nothing. Protect your family, everyone. Anyone could take them away if given the opportunity.

When I was ten my dog went missing for months. I finally saw someone walking him and i went to that persons door with my grandma and I even brought pictures of me with my dog and the lady wouldn’t give him to me. She lied even when we called the cops and made up 2 different stories on how she had him forever and he was hers. i live in a high rise and always kept mine on a leash and halter, let him loose in off leash dog parks keeping a close eye on him, never had an issue

Sooo My 6 month old puppy was stolen and I actually bought him from someone down the street from me when he was only 2 months .. some Caucasian couple stole him that lived in the same apartments as me and complained about him using the bathroom in the house too much so they posted him on Craigslist and sold him again , I reached out to the couple he called me racial slurs so I called the police and they basically told me I couldn’t do anything about it .. This lady finding her dog after 5 months is a blessing . 🥲🤍
Just take the dog back without them noticing, you could follow them to the store and when they leave the dog waiting outside you take him back. And then move out from there asap. Is your dog chipped?

It's wonderful that the young lady got her dog back. I think there is a big misconception though between an actual "service dog" and an "emotional support" pet.
Both are essential to their owners but only one is (highly trained professionally to be a Service Dog for tasks, medical management, behavior, public space assistance etc. ) calling a emotional support dog (a Service Dog) is what causes people with actual (Service Dogs) a lot of grief.
I'm am so very glad this young lady has her (support) or (service) animal back if he's a actual trained service dog or not he's Essential to her wellbeing.
I can't help but feel a little sad for the other lady because it sounds like she thought she was taking in a stray.. Loved it and then didn't want to let it go so she lied about it.

I have so many photos and videos of my dog that I share with people I care about. She’s literally my child and I constantly talk about how cute she is.. well until she poops on the carpet, which she rarely does anymore, unless she’s mad.

Service dogs and their owners usually do have paperwork when they are officialy recognized. I imagine a reciept could also be helpful in this situation.
My dogs are microchipped and were registered with my vet at 8 weeks old when they went in for a puppy check and vaccinations. Prior to my vet they went to the breeders vet. The breeder had the puppies microchipped between 4 and 6 weeks. Myself and the breeder then had the ownership and chip records changed into my name when I collected my pup. If my dogs are ever scanned my details will pop up. These details cannot be changed without my consent.

Actually, yes, there are service dogs trained to pick up things off the floor or fetch certain items - be it for mobility reasons (like a wheelchair as someone mentioned) or someone needing their meds/inhaler or any number of other things.
They do when they want to be returned HOME.
