You are the triple threat Jon! 1. Adventurer 2. Videographer 3. Amazing narrator. The video was great. Loved this one.
🙏🙏
Wowwwww, 11,500 dollars round trip! No wonder you wanted to make the most of every second!
yeah, I didn't expect it be that much but then thought about it. it's basically a personal service into a very remote area, so makes complete sense.
So cool to see the stuff that doesn't make the final edit 😊
Erin is happy wherever you are Jon ❤ you definitely picked a good one because she adores you & it's so cute to watch 😊❤
Well we knew he made the right choice back when she hauled him out of the bush when his leg got hurt! 👍Erin and Jon are both amazing people indeed!
The feelings are obviously mutual. Absolutely zero macho sexism or femme fatale nonsense. A relationship many of us can only dream of...
Seeing how much effort goes into one of your trips is very interesting. I barely like planning my meals for the week in my comfortable home. I can't imagine doing it for 22 in changing weather and environment. Thanks for sharing, it was enjoyable.
Lynx to!!! Wow and this was fun to watch as well, Thanks 🙂
Thanks for this awesome extra behind the scenes look! Realy feels like we are along for the journey, which in its own right, is a privilege. Thank you both for sharing your adventures! Probably the last thing you want to hear, but can't wait for the next one!😂😁
Hahah always glad to hear that! :) Even if the backlog is daunting and the next project is barely underway...
Missed opportunity to name this channel “Lost Takes” loving the bonus footage!
Hahah brilliant
Wow!!! and I'm so glad you both had and amazing adventure.
Great idea! Nice to get weather. News, and hiking ideas about NH. Even though I’m from Maine , New Hampshire is a place I’ve done many hikes.
Still making my way through the documentary! Such a cool area. Thank you for making me discover through your eyes!
Thanks for the extras. My wife and I are still talking about your trip and your experiences the 2 of you had. So fortunate.
What a great trip, glad to have you come through MB! The north is something really special that not enough people will ever experience.
Cool to see all that footage! And lots of informations about how to prepare, love it! Hopefully, one day, I'll get to live it too!
Love your place.. open concept and high ceilings. Wow. Nice.
Best honeymoon video I've ever seen ❤️ Or TH-cam for that matter.
Great behind the scenes. Enjoyed reading the history with amazing views. I hope your trip was epic
I absolutely love this little video! It feels personal & intimate… like time spent sharing around a bonfire. Some of the deleted scenes are just as awesome as the ones that made the cut! The crack in the windshield shot was one of my favs from the beginning of the full length video… so I enjoyed seeing it here paralleled with the crack in the lynx sign. Thank you for sharing these extra little moments.
💚💚
You both have such passion for wilderness and our beautiful country
What a treat. Thanks for sharing. My wife enjoyed the full trip video as much as I did.
Very interesting. (I flew in the single Beaver, single Otter, in the 1970's in western Arctic). Lots of preparation (enjoyed the speeded-up summary)
Thank for sharing. It was cool to see the prep work. Reminded me of the days I spent preparing for longer trips. You two are awesome.❤
💚
This was a great behind the scenes look. I'm a hobbyist adventurer. So fascinating to watch proffesionals. Just an epic trip. I've heard youtubers talk about expensive float plane rides, but i had no idea. I was imagining a few grand. Thanks for sharing
Lol yep. Float planes cost an absolute fortune these days. But it was our honeymoon and best of all it's a business expense for me
Hi Jon, Pigafetta here, from France, whose quote of Clarence Darrow's remarks you commented on in the past. Great choice of music ! Daring decision to honeymoon this way, wow ! Up until minute 50 in your rmain video, lands turned out to be literally barren, of most anything that crawls. Observation: the further North one goes, the larger the fish get. Northern Scavenger made the same experience with his team when going to Labrador.
Thank you! Yeah we were truly only hoping to see a few caribou...never could've expected that. Hopefully I'll meet one of those fish next time :)
Love the extra footage Jon and Erin. ATB Mike from Chicago
Manitoba is such an underrated province for tripping. Their is some great fishing and backcountry access just off the highway around Thompson and Lynn Lake. Living in Thompson, I’ve been surprised just how much their is to explore up there considering how few paddlers venture that way.
Definitely...just a lonnng haul for most of us
I love you guys❤
💚
Super sweet! TY for sharing!
Nice to see you guys.
Great lakes swimmers, nice.
In the main video, you mention being in the middle nowhere. I'd say being in the middle of a major metro area is the middle of nowhere. Being in the barren lands is truly somewhere.... but I get the idea. Check out Northern Scavengers 20+ day trip to the Barren Lands. It is also awesome.... with 4 guys.
Neat Lynx. I saw one and 3 babies in Neys Park in September. Much bigger than I expected.
That audio book though, is.. phenomenal
Such a great novel
I had to research after hearing that chapter title. Added to que.
@@LostLakes2 Been waiting on the third book of the series for years. Hopefully it will be out soon. Great long distance drive listening.
Great seeing this stuff.
Also great choice of Audiobook!
We love that book :)
The Name of the Wind is a good book!
Yes! This is exactly the kind of content I was hoping you guys would use this second channel for! The stuff that for whatever reason did not make it into the primary channel videos. The prep work that goes into mounting a trip. Looking forward to the evaluation of the new canoe, and the details on the tent that leaked. Any of the drone footage that just did not seem good enough, and of coarse animal encounters including peeing caribou or pooping eagles! 🤣👍💯 Okay maybe not so much of that last bit, preserve the dignity of the wild creatures of northern Canada and you know. Avoid an age restriction on your channel or video.😁 Great stuff, thank you both for sharing the experiences with us.
Hahah thank you! I'll keep throwing stuff like this on the channel whenever I can make a little segment out of the cuts
@@LostLakes2 re: "make a little [something] out of the cuts" - So is this the sausage channel? ;) -- Note: No disrespect intended. I am a long-time sausage fan! :) :)
Wonderful!😊😊😊
More like the hot dog channel...grind up all the filler than no one would otherwise eat lol
What an amazing trip you took us all on. Thank you. I do have a couple of questions; will you be returning the $700 tent, did you bring enough food and are you willing to take bug spray next time up there? ❤🇨🇦
Thank you! I contacted them for a warranty claim and they sent me a new one with no fuss. Seam sealant fixed the original so I got 2 for 1. Yep all good for food. In our opinion bug spray is pointless with subarctic level bugs and covering skin is the only way...we did bring a thermacell but it doesn't work on black flies (or minimally) and lighting fires was effective anyway so we used it once and that was it
Loving every minute.
Fun to see how you got there. And good book choice!
Second channel is a winner!
The Name of Wind is such good Audiobook.
Fantastic
When you have lynx, and 2 offspring of said lynx in the deleted scenes, I can only conclude you are just showing off! Seriously though, lynx sightings, let alone video captures, are so rare, and I have never heard of catching mom and two babies! kudos!
Hahah footage just wasn't good enough quality and I was already stressing about how long the intro was (that might end up hamstringing the video, we'll see) 🙂
@@LostLakes2 I am not going to second guess your judgement after watching it, that is for sure!
Love it
The flight costs were $11,500 CAD round trip??? Wow, this sounds extremely expensive to transport just two people using relatively small plane.
Yeah it's pretty crazy. That's with no external load (would've been $3600 more with a hard canoe strapped on the outside) and this was the cheapest way we could do it. Some other quotes (different planes) we looked at were up to $20,000. But it was our honeymoon so we could splurge and also a business expense :)
Really shocking at how bad that first tent performed.
That was super enjoyable, thank you for sharing, We're headed to our camp tonight, a new convenience we've added is a roaming star link, so our plan is to continue to watch the full length video of the trip on our ipad. Chapter 3 here we come, a fantastic trip so far, what's your thoughts on that new canoe? Seemed to be working fine, does the wind push it around more? The new place looks great BTW, thanks guys,, Bob & Lou,
Thanks you guys! Sorry for the delay but I see you saw the canoe video as well :) As for the wind, I don't think it's any worse than a hard shell boat of a similar profile
@@LostLakes2 thank you
In case you were wondering you two hit a 500 foot home run with your new house. Never mind your trips!
Hahah thanks Bern :)
You know, there's a company that replaces windshields while you're away for 3 weeks...😅
Lol I'm planning to give it to a family member soon but have to safety it first so I'm holding off the windshield until the safety :)
@LostLakes2 , just throwing in some humor. Great journeys my friend...
What's the saying?? Manitoba, where you can watch your dog run away for 3 weeks...😊Half way through your latest video good stuff you guys 👍
😂
Hi lost Lakes I’m really enjoying watching your adventures. How has your recovery from knee surgery been? I’m stuck on the couch having had 2 surgeries on my knee in 3 months.
Thank you! I feel for you...it can be depressing. It's been good in the end so keep up the hope. Once you finish basic physio with resistance bands and whatnot, I recommend looking into the Knees Over Toes program online (also a book, requires no equipment), including walking backwards (easier on a treadmill, KOT actually makes a backward walking treadmill which I bought). Keep putting in the work as your body allows...it's worth every second
Great video!!! That flight cost $11,500??!!!!!????
Lol yep. Float planes cost an absolute fortune these days. But it was our honeymoon and best of all it's a business expense for me
@LostLakes2 regardless it's another great video!!!
HIT THE LIKE BUTTON, great video.
Would be interesting to know if the canoe has patch kits and how much inadvertent abuse it can take. Costly flights for sure but hope it doesnt cost more to strap a rigid canoe on the floats.
Nice sighting of the lynx and its kittens. Kits are foxes offspring:)
It comes with one solid repair kit but that shoe goo worked like a charm which'll be good for the small stuff. An external load would've cost $3.18/mile more so this trip almost paid for the pakcanoe...kind of crazy. Good to know!
Hey Jon, you mentioned a future arctic river trip possibly next summer... is that a Yukon area trip?! I'm dying to know
Hahah the current plan is farther north in Nunavut :) But Yukon someday
🎉❤🎉
