WOW! I just geeked out, heavily to this. I have conducted the concert band version of this many times. Also, I am a tuba and euph player (played in the US Army for 23 years). The tuba player in the orchestra that I am in, also has and plays cimbasso. You did a really nice job with this.
Mr. Sutherland, I want to thank you for making this arrangement. I'm a freshman in college majoring in music education this year, and sending this song to my professor and helping him discover your arrangements has helped me make myself noticed in the studio. So thank you, sir, and please, keep making awesome songs like this!
Hi Barrett! So glad to hear this!! Best of luck with the rest of the semester and I hope you enjoy some of the content I’m planning over the next couple of months, it’s looking to be pretty cool!!
Harmonies work so well with instruments in the lower registers. It has such a warm sound behind it. You don’t get the shrillness you get with higher instruments
@scottsutherlandmusic I watched this again for the epic tones and harmonies, and quick question: are you circular breathing on every instrument or just the cimbasso?
Scott Sutherland Music ever day in band when ever i play my baritone i hear a vibrating sound, nothing is loose. do i need to readjust my mouth? Also ever day spit collects in my mouth piece, runs down my chin and never comes out the spit valve. any tips
Scott!!! I remember meeting you and the Presidio Brass when I went to RBHS in '09! Now I'm a middle school band director in Baton Rouge and I'm gonna show my beginning euphonium and tuba players this! Hope all is well!
Hey Cheryl! Great to hear from you and really glad that you're doing well!! There are more of these videos to come and I hope they help to inspire your euphs and tubas!
I've been subscribed to you since you released your pirates of the Caribbean cover which was when I was in high school. I've since finished college. Over the years, I performed a legend of Zelda duet with you at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and I've been watching every video you produced and I'm very excited for your release on November 12th. You've inspired me on so many different levels of the years and I can't wait to see what you have in store for the future!!!
Thank you for reaching out. There are times that I really need to hear this from people that have enjoyed and been inspired by my content. Sometimes I can feel like my videos are not making a difference. So THANK YOU!! 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼

Scott Sutherland Music did you arrange this yourself or get it off a website? If its from a website where can i find it? I'd love to play it with some of my friends frome school.
So I noticed throughout your videos you use the cimbasso only when you need power, but is it ever used for melodies or is it more of a brute force type thing? Awesome videos!
Hi John, it is true that I use that instrument for powerful effect. I tend to enjoy the tuba for the more lyrical, melodic lines, I just think the instrument lends itself to that.
I honestly dont believe a good tuba player would let low notes rip it causes a dirty sound that drives tuba players that actually care about there sound crazy.
It's not that bad. I didn't start really utilizing it until I started playing C tuba. I'm back on BBb tuba now but now I can play using my pinky just fine. I can't get use to the 3+1 system though, it's too awkward.
John Ries I just got one about 2 months ago it's a beautiful Allora with four rotary valves it took me about 2 weeks to get used to the pinky but what gets me is the low E flat witch is 1,2,4 it's weird.
do you live somewhere in europe? where i live its all 4 valve combos. None of the 3+1 stuff. We'll move our valves with our right hand and use our left to quickly adjust tuning slides (mainly first).
And then great Brass players collaberated and created a masterpiece! (Pirates of the Caribbean Brass Medley - Antonio Cabrera with Scott, Chris, Alyssa and Alex ^^)
and now i know what a cimbasso is. i dont know if i needed this in my life. i could have gone my whole life without knowing about that and i might have been okay with it. but now that i know.... im not okay
I play tuba and I clicked this video as fast as I saw the word tuba in it. And I have played pirates of the Carribean on tuba myself with my band. You're so talented on these instruments I loved the sound you got out of the tuba. Those sounds are difficult to get out of a tuba.
That was really good. Good job, man. How do you get your euphonium to sound so good? I've had the same euphonium for 4 YEARS, and the tone quality improved, but I was always stuck with this weird airy sound.
You know what they say: practice, practice, practice! Lots of long tones, listening to great euphonium players and recording myself imitating those great sounds.
Oh, Yeah! Bass choir sounds great. I would like to hear a brass rendition of Russian liturgical choral music. The sound of the basso octavists tradition found in Russian culture would sound so sweet on tuba and so ballsy on cimbasso.
Amazing how you made a band with people that look so similar to you!
Max Lister practically magic!!
Are you stupid 🤣🤣🤣
@@danielroa8118 YES!
Daniel Roa r/whooosh
It’s probably multitrack.
The deatil of using different t-shirts is so great 👌👍
Thanks for noticing!!!
alBerTo//// TV graet comnemt!
the soft sounding passages are insane. Also, the spot on intonation on the cimbasso is great
Thanks, Michele!

Thank you so much, Kevin! Much appreciated!!

No problem. I really like the toy story one
❤️❤️❤️

Thank you! I whole-heartedly agree
@scottsutherlandmusic I watched this again for the epic tones and harmonies, and quick question: are you circular breathing on every instrument or just the cimbasso?
1:18 I really like the sound the the two 5 valve F tubas and the two F cimbassos right there.
Thanks!!
Omg the Cimbasso player's face at the bottom right at 1:29
SAME DUDE! That literally scared me so much
Zovekai his face always while he's playing
Zovekai of a young man was arrested after
FUCKEN KILLLLLLLLLL

Sounds amazing! Love all the different low brass instruments!
Thanks Jenna Werlein!!

Is your tongue behind your teeth far enough that you could close your jaws completely without moving your tongue?
that is one strange tone on all the instruments yet it's a good strange. very unique
Galactic Bleachman 9ypf
It's the cheap microphone I used. I have since upgraded my recording equipment significantly for my most recent videos
I'm a Baritone player and I love how he shows passision/love while playing this piece 😍
Timothy Trinidad Thank you so much!

love this and could listen to it a thousand times over
Nice arrangement! Great touch with the cimbasso, gave it almost a synthesized sound.
Thanks Edward!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
This is the greatest thing ever! I love bass music like this
Dave Adams Thanks!! Glad you enjoyed it! There are many more in the works...
Congratulations on the excellent work! A big hug from here in Brazil!
Randomly found your video when searching around for tuba videos. Good to see you're still tottin', Scott :)
Thanks Winton! Hope you're doing well!

2:22 was the best part
So nicely done!
You should play Misty mountains cold from the hobbit
Cool video, getting stuff to sound nice with these instruments all together is really difficult and I applaud how this recording came out!
awesome!! As a euphonium player myself, I enjoy watching this video over and over again. please keep making fantastic music!
I am a euphonium player too and I just love this

Hi John, it is true that I use that instrument for powerful effect. I tend to enjoy the tuba for the more lyrical, melodic lines, I just think the instrument lends itself to that.
More low notes, More louder low notes. I play Tuba too, Let em rip man. XD
Tuba is a fun instrument but i personaly like the higher register more its a bit more demanding though
I honestly dont believe a good tuba player would let low notes rip it causes a dirty sound that drives tuba players that actually care about there sound crazy.
Nice sound. I don't think I could get used to having to operate the fourth valve with my pinky, though.
Thanks! I have to play with my pinky for all of my instruments, so it's not an issue.
John Ries If you just toss it into your playing sometimes, you get used to it after awhile
It's not that bad. I didn't start really utilizing it until I started playing C tuba. I'm back on BBb tuba now but now I can play using my pinky just fine. I can't get use to the 3+1 system though, it's too awkward.
