      I know this is a joke before someone tries to kill me, but it’s technically the “water key” because if you have actual spit in your horn instead of condensation, during or after high school, you are doing something wrong. (Basing this off of the guess that you started in middle school).
      Edit: forgot the close bracket...

    3:55 I remember when we were rehearsing this part of the piece with a 100-peeps orchestra and the conductor was complaining about the clarinets being too loud and hiding the solo flute's part. She said something like: "The flute's melody is like a meadow with flowers and cows and butterflies, and we don't want the clarinets to come in like lawnmowers and destroy all that beauty." We were all on the floor laughing ^^

    How do trombone players know where to move their slide???

    • @darkowl5795
      @darkowl5795 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Luke Staten Well it’s fairly easy. 1 is as far in as possible (As close to you as possible), 2 is about a knuckle out from one, 3 is generally somewhere under the bell, 4 is about a knuckle past 3, 5 is a pain in the butt that only sadists try, 6 is about an arms-length out, and 7 is full extension.

      +Laure excoffon I am in 8th grade, american and our band could not handle that. What is the music program in france like?

    • @littlesmile43
      @littlesmile43 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well it's quite complex : there are two types of music schools
      1- conservatories, which I don't know well because they are for very experimented players and I never even tried to attempt being part of those
      2- average music schools : We can have a group or indivual teacher and depending on our ability to progress, they adapt the class they give
      In these school,s most of time, to "distinguish" the good players and help them to learn knew techniques, there is an orchestra. The plays are chosen depending on the director's tastes and his assumptions about our level. Then we work them as hard as we can, by ourselves and with our teacher, so that the next rehearsal, we are able to handle it.
      My explanation wasn't very clear, but there is no official program for music school, since they are not a part of the public school classes where we all go (the government doesn't decide what we study in music schools, while they decide for public school and graduations)
