    Tony Gilroy comes across as a very likeable and humble guy. Andor is an amazing show. It's so well written and everything meshes together on so many levels, it makes it so much more enjoyable. Where shows like the Acolyte fail for me because of bad writing. I feel like people fear complexity, and when you watch something like Andor, there's this complexity that is peeled back through the episode. It makes you think, explore, and discover. That's what keeps you engaged, interested, and keeps you wondering what happens next. This type of story telling feeds your mind, gets you addicted, and has you wanting more.
    With shows like the Acolyte, it takes a premise and tries to loosely cobble something together, and has a hard time doing it. It spoon feeds you the information because the audience is unable to figure things out for themselves. To me, the Acolyte had a story buried somewhere in there, and I liked some of the characters, but the story was just poorly written and a mess. I felt like The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan also suffered from bad writing. For me, I felt like the book of Boba Fett was a animated episode adapted for live action. Obi-wan, the same thing, it had it's moments, but overall failed.
    I think Andor and The Mandalorian containing so many new characters, it can take liberties. With new characters, I can accept what they do and accept the world they occupy. With Boba Fett and Obi-Wan, these characters have occupied and place in our heads for 40 + years, and we've imagined what they've done, who we think they are. When they're thrust into a world we can't see them in, not even close, it's hard to take it seriously. I imagined Boba Fett's exploits, hunting down bounties, outsmarting everyone, and staying alive. I'm expecting something like John Wick, Kill Bill, Leon. For Obi-Wan I could see him more of the mysterious stranger, traveling from planet to planet, helping people until they find out he's a Jedi, then having to move on. I'm thinking something like Shane. Also, getting involved with the resistance and doing some covert work like only a Jedi can. His involvement with Leia should have been in secret, and maybe just one episode.
    I feel like, with a lot of these shows, there were waisted opportunities

    I really hope season 2 blows the ratings out of the water. Just to show those fuckers that this is what we need from them. There are a lot of people though, that say it doesn't feel like Star Wars. It feels more like Star Wars than anything else Disney has put out, and they do it without the Force or lightsabers! It's really awesome

      I'm really interested to see how the viewership is for S2 when it comes out, S1 didn't do amazing in that regard but the show has garnered a lot of word of mouth since then. Before the show came out, almost no one talked about it. Even as the show was releasing there wasn't as much discourse as there was with other shows. But now it seems like its the one thing everyone is excited for, so hopefully it does well so we can get more stuff on this level of maturity and production quality.

    I'm picking up all of what you (and Tony) are laying down, but - since you asked - if I could offer one piece of constructive criticism: Take your own advice. let the man talk instead of interjecting yourself in the middle of every other sentence he speaks in the interview, and let me come to my own conclusions. then surmise the points you want to elaborate on while replaying the relevant quotes. In my opinion it would make for a much stronger critique and/or recapitulation of the issues you wish to highlight while respecting your audience in the same way you'd like SW to respect its fans. that's all. nice video, otherwise. thank you.

    • @TheForceFandom
      @TheForceFandom  20 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Thanks for the constructive criticism. Im trying to run the fine line of not doing reactionary theft content, where you just watch someone else's video and react at the end.
      With that said, i will definitely take into consideration letting clips go for longer before I speak.

    • @noisemodule
      @noisemodule 20 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@TheForceFandom that's a valid concern. I can only offer my heartfelt suggestion that you can trust in the strength of your own commentary that it won't be taken as reactionary theft content. your thoughts on the subject are totally lucid, well considered and articulated, and substantive enough that I don't think anyone truly paying attention would take them as simply reactionary.
      keep up the good work! however you choose to format it is for you alone to decide. 👍

      They are but both were handled differently than any other Star Wars project. They both let the writer do what he wanted.

    • @GeekyMedia

      @ Doesn’t take away from the fact they’re both Disney Star Wars projects. Your differentiation is baseless, therefore, most of your video was nonsensical.
      I agree that the amount of writers of the Rey film is worrisome, btw. But you gotta give a team its credit when it wins, as well as its criticisms when it loses - not make out that one is magically non-Disney 🥴

      @@GeekyMedia I don't get what your point is. These are good. Whether or not they are Disney. What's the problem? Besides that the rest of the Disney products are trash? They ought to hire more writers like Gilroy and let them make good shit without worrying about being inclusive and shit, just write good stories. Hire good actors. What are you talking about? How does Tony's excellence make Disney look worse? It's still Disney Star Wars! You're can't use this show to say Disney Star Wars sucks... that makes no sense whatsoever. Andor is the best Disney Star Wars there is! Maybe even better made than George's Prequels? Yes, Disney hires some good directors. You can't have it both ways... saying that this is great is an admission that Disney can make good Star Wars... admit it! Listen to the freedom he had to make this, listen to the time he was given, listen to the craftmanship that is put in to it, listen to his explanation that not everyone has to be a Star Wars nerd to make good Star Wars.

      When something doesn’t work more than it works which is more likely?
      1. That the thing as a whole is doing a great job
      2. That the thing doesn’t work and gets it right less than 10% of the time.
      The truth is most of what Disney has made in Star Wars doesn’t work. The sequels don’t work, Boba Fett didn’t work, Obi Wan didn’t work, Mado season 3 didn’t work, Acolyte, Ahsoka…
      Disney is broken, just because they got Tony Gilroy right with Rogue one and Andor does not mean that Disney Star Wars is good. Andor can be good while Disney Star Wars as a whole not be.
