One of the nicest people I ever met in my life. I had the pleasure to meet him, as I was working across the canal from the property he owned in St. Lucie Florida all those years ago! He was sitting on wicker furniture with Sally Field and Dom DeLouise and I walked up and spoke with him and Sally and Mr.D . He had a crazy laugh and was very at ease. You could see Burt and Sally were crazy about each other. And Mr. DeLouise was just CRAZY! What wonderful memories to have. God Speed Burt. You were an actor, and not super human , like some would have you. I don't hold your human errors against you at all!

Charles Johnson III See. Right there you just ruined an awesome comment by putting Fast & Furious 8. This car does not belong in that movie. Sack of shit franchise. Should of stopped at the first one.
boy do I ever agree with you where you said how we long for the 1970s, God isn't that the truth I think about that all the time. you really struck a nerve would it ever be so beautiful to snap our finger go back to 1975 for ever.
As a child growing up in the Caribbean, almost EVERYBODY wanted to be Mr. T; I wanted to be Burt Reynolds. S.A.T.B. changed everything for us kids. Keep it going, guys!!!
"It didn't matter - I had to behave. I'm pretty good at most things, but I"m lousy at that." Instant classic. Congratulations to you guys on this one of a kind "dream meets reality" project.
+galihxtreme Yeah especially since I don't think you'll be able to get another set of those tires. Those are special made for that car. The guy said they don't make those tires?
FreeeeBeer don't get the big picture do ya? These people, the ones affiliated with this video's account owner, building Trans Am(s) from THEIR factory garage, out of GM Zeta platform. Kinda coachbuilding, but with high quality. Check their site first before saying more.
In the end - which hopefully will be a long time away - Burt Reynolds will be recognized for the talent that he truly is. Like John Wayne, James Garner, or Steve McQueen, Mr. Reynolds is a great actor and a real man's man - and though some of his movies found him typecast or badly directed, he won an Oscar for "Boogie Nights", and did stunning work in dramatic pieces like "Deliverance" and "The Longest Yard". Every man wanted to be him - and by turn, everyone want that car. Like "Dawn of the Dead", in which a shopping mall became a character in the story, one cannot help but see that the Trans Am is as important as any of the characters. Seriously, can anyone picture this movie with anything other than this car? The 77 and 78 Pontiac Trans Ams - differing only in the shape of the grill, with the 77 being hexagons and the 78 being diamonds - had every single proportion correct. There wasn't an angle from which one could view this car and NOT be impressed. The new Bandit - is VERY true to the original concept, design, and execution - it should literally give the viewer shivers, and excite them in that unique way that only a car of this caliber can. This one does that. At least for me...
I worked at a Pontiac dealer from '75-'80 and loved those Trans Am's. got to drive a few of them,..especially the black ones. they may have been rated at 185 h.p. but I'm sure they were a lot more - it was during the gas "shortage" and the manufactures at the time were down playing their horsepower ratings.
I just remembered one of my most valued Matchbox cars. Every time I saw the eagle on the hood of that little metal toy, I had to smile. And I'm pretty sure it's still in one of the boxes that moves with me from place to place...
65elcamino283 he's not really a bad ass. Most of the driving in the Smokey and the Bandit movies were done by stunt drivers and not him yet he gets the credit for whatever reason.
He's down and bound 18 wheels a truckin' he's doing what they can't say be done. Come on Fred. Fred! What's she wearin' now? Jr get in the car. But daddy. Get in the car
You've gotta love Burt Reynolds. He's the man that drove the coolest car and got the hottest girls throughout that decade. If you look up the definition of the word cool in the dictionary it should have a picture of Burt next to it.
WOW!!!. What a beauty on wheels!!!. Burt Reynolds, a living legend!!!. And to think that I grew up seeing him and that beautiful car in Smokey and the Bandit saga during my childhood!!!
*Nigling* - None that I know of... T-tops are a thing of the past. I think its because of safety concerns/regulations... (which is weird 'cuz they still make convertibles) or because they get old and leak. I would love to have them... The '02 WS6 is one of my dream cars, but I dont yet have enough disposable income to buy one. :(
My Trans Am story. Saw Smokey and the Bandit at the Litchfield MN drive-in in my 1978 Trans Am. As we left the people were freakin and honking and I lit em up headin down the highway. Great memories..
At least Burt lived to see the 40th anniversary of this iconic car and this remake. There will never be another one like him ever again. Thanks for the memories Burt, you brought joy to millions over the years.
+philipme109 ..my favorite memory of Jackie in those movies was when he was being hassled by a female trooper and he says"womens lib sum mum a bitch"... awesome delivery..
please ....bud ...tv makes people look better than they really are...if these movie stars had to live in the real world they would poop there pants....
Thank you Kevin Morgan and the crew of Trans Am Depot for building these cars. The Bandit Trans Am was and will always be my dream car. I love how the new Bandit Trans Am captures the spirit of the original car in every way and more. It may have started out as a Camaro, but it is now indeed a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am by all means, although Pontiac no longer exist anymore. Eastbound and Down!
It made me so happy and yet so sad to see my childhood hero getting so old...please stay a little longer to see this successful comeback for this legend of a machine.
I just met burt two weeks ago in pigeon forge Tennessee at bubba fest. What a legend. He really seemed to be frail. They had help in and out of the venue. What a shame. One of my favorite movies of all time. Time gets everyone.
I'm from West Palm Beach, Florida. I had the pleasure of seeing him in the seventies driving that car around town. That man was nothing less than drop dead gorgeous. He's getting up there now. Still a handsome old bird. The car ain't bad either.
I would barbecue my ass in molasses for one of those! I did own a '77 TA and I must say, that car handled like a dream. Many conversions look cool. I remember seeing this concept a while ago. This design is the one! So says me and Burt Reynolds!
Loved the movie . When I was little that was my car I wanted . No way I could have one with only 77 made. She is a beast ❤️❤️. Loved Burt Reynolds in Smokey in the bandit. Thankyou. Rip Burt Reynolds. No way I could behave sitting behind the steering wheel
sevan grigoryan they used the camaro body becuase back then the camaro and trans am were using the same platform so therefore they wanted to stick with the original roots I think it's badass
The Camaro of the 1060's and the new Camaro are popular in part to it's short and wide-track body. The same goes for Firebirds and Trans-Ams in the 1960's and mid to Late 70's and early 80's. So a Short and wide body is traditional and something that I greatly like. I hate the elongated Camaros and Firebirds/Trans-Ams of the "Knight-Rider" era.
sevan grigoryan I agree, though it kinda has to be on the same chassis and subframe as the Camaro since the were built like that from the start. just different front/rear clips and wheels for some generations. It's funny....my mom had a Camaro and my dad had a trans am/firebird
You, and I plus a lot of Knight Rider fans, maybe there was Smokey and the Bandit fan who watched the series is waiting for that too. All we need is David Hasselhoff approval of the Trans Am then will be another hit out of the park
Best tribute I ever saw that's related to an automobile. The Trans Am and Burt Reynolds are true American legends! I'm proud to say I've owned a Trans Am and a Formula Firebird. Seeing this video makes me want one built by TAW! Hat's off to you guys! You brought the T/A back the right way! 👍🏻👍🏻
MigSu pue ram yes it is and back in the day of Camaro and firebird some parts were actually interchangeable I had a friend with a '67 Camaro with a '67 firebird front clip . Really confused everyone !
A lot of people think the name of the car in the movie was "The Bandit" but that was the name of the driver...actually, it was the C.B. handle of the driver, who was played by Burt Reynolds. The name of the car was "Trigger". It wasn't mentioned in the first film, but in the sequel, the 1979 Trans Am was called "Son of Trigger".
I'm more of an import guy but Woooow this is an American Icon back on the road and it has Burt Reynolds signature 😱I grew up watching this guy come on ! Man gave me goosebumps
If I were rich I'd buy at least one of these, drive it onto a trailer, drain the fluids and park it in my living room for a decade or two. Talk about collector value. Beat the shit out of a Hellcat, who cares. This thing is worth being preserved. Burt made this car an icon and Pontiac made it art.
i admit, im not for modern remakes of old cars, but this car, they got it on point! as someone who saw smokey and the bandit on opening night, i have to give this car a stamp of approval right here, after all, the legend himself approved of it
77' saw the movie at a drive in. In the old man " Boat" 76 Chevy Impela. in front of us were two " Bandit" cars also there. funny how you can have total recall from 40 yrs ago. Love that car and Burt made it like peanut butter and JAM!!!
I thought he was a half back and sometimes a receiver. I realize that is splitting hairs lol but I used to look forward to his commentary on the Bobby Bowden football show on Sunday afternoon's. I played high school football because of the longest yard (The original)
It's hard to see all your childhood movie stare getting old or dead, just looking at Bert Reynolds now,I can't help but to remember him when he was young,in all his classic movies, still old is gold to me,just like the old car.
Excellent video. ☆☆☆☆☆ Mr. Reynolds ☆☆☆☆☆, You were the legend back then and you'll be the legend FOREVER. ! Thank you ever so much for the memories . BLESSINGS to you & to your crew.
I am a Camaro man, have owned 7 of them, but I saw Smokey & The Bandit in the movies as a teen, and like the rest of America I fell in love with that Trans Am. Great job, guys.....the t-tops are the best part! (are you listening, General Motors??)
We miss you Burt. As much as I loved Smokey & the Bandit and the Bandit's car, despite it being the same age as me, I've never wanted this car before. But I sure would buy & drive one now if I could. The original or the new one.
ive had the nickname band1t since the day the film came out, was my handle on the CB radio, still use it to this day on most games i play lol , 1 of the most stunning cars ive ever seen, would love a RHD version to drive here in the UK
Love you Burt, you’ll be missed. Rest In Peace 😔😢
The Trans Am and Burt Reynolds. Two icons reunited.
😎👍
He was a hell of a cool dude, the things he saw and did.
Going to miss the bandit! RIP Burt Reynolds.
Rest in peace Bandit, thanks for the cars and films, absolute legend 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

The best thing about Smokey and the Bandit series (as with many 70's movies) was the absence of CGI.
Agreed!
tangled Line ruru
tangled Line amen!!👍👍
You are so very right. I despise CGI.
tangled Line real actors sweating and working
What a shame we all have to get old! Great actor and a great car! Thanks Burt for the childhood memories and thanks Pontiac for the great car!
Too bad Pontiac isn't around to build new Trans Am.Thanks GM for messing up a good thing, should have shut down Chevy instead.
Peter H poor Burt Reynolds he is 90
He lived his dream. Not many get to say that.
RIP BANDIT....
Not a shame, to get old means you made it in one piece, its part of the journey, embrace it..not many achieve what this man did, his best movie for me was deliverance, interesting to know what he thou g ht his best film was

definitely an instant collector's item the moment any one of them rolls out the factory garage
+galihxtreme Indeed
+galihxtreme Yeah especially since I don't think you'll be able to get another set of those tires. Those are special made for that car. The guy said they don't make those tires?
+galihxtreme Not going to happen. Pontiac doesn't exist anymore.

magnificent car and an icon from a time when our automobiles didnt kill us from brake failures and engine fires.

70TruckGuy they don’t make em like Burt anymore.
I agree with everything you said other than mentioning John Wayne along side these great actors.
The man was talentless and that's being kind.
70TruckGuy I really wished your first sentence came to fruition :-(
RIP Bandit
This is an awesome car!
The End o the Bandit, 9/18. ;(
He will. History will be kind to him.
Brian Swartz no they were really that low in power. They had not figured out yet to get power from new emissions equipped cars.
@@MJBclassics there it is,the dumbest comment of the day! You win!

I heard Burt sold his last original movie car. I hope these guys give him one, or at least a 0/77 prototype just for him.
+Corey Berry He had to sell just about everything he had. So sad.
T Phillips that breaks my heart. He honestly seems more sincere now than ever. I hope he can live his remaining time with dignity.
When #67 mysteriously goes missing at the factory they'll know who got one.. The Bandit
+Corey Berry F that... Burt had his chances with more cash than small countries deal with... he blew it.
I'm sure he got 0 or 1
the last 10 seconds were the best part... should've included more footage with the actual sound of the car.
cmz8706 there was no cat in the last 10 seconds goofnut ;)

GM should bring Pontiac back ESPECIALLY TO MAKE MORE OF THESE!!!!!!!
They probably lost the rights to it lol
Ivan Ezell GM is going to have to give this guy's a big check!
Ivan Ezell these guys I think bought the rights to trans am but I'm not sure
I'd buy one with 300hp just for the looks
i know eh
If I had the money I would get that car in a heartbeat.i have wanted a trans am since I was five
Wouldn’t we all?
Thank you Kevin Morgan and the crew of Trans Am Depot for building these cars. The Bandit Trans Am was and will always be my dream car. Does it come with a CB radio ?
haha....nice. relevant observation.
bigfella65 actually...you can get a nos gm cb radio on ebay..exact one used in original bandit car..I almost bought one
bigfella65 no cause the police have them and you could hear there conversation about something. That's not allowed in cars unless a cop car.
Not illegal in Canada..the u.s. is too parinoid
! a DAB radio ;-)
Dear santa....
i had the 77 black car.... I loved it. I wish I had kept it.

I'm glad you guys got to do this with the man when you got the chance. He will be missed
#RIPBurt Reynolds

I can hear Archer screaming right now
Logic Cowboy lmfaooo
Hahahaha yep

That and the guys at GM
This sent shivers down my spine.
I want one so bad! If I can drive one from Atlanta to Texarkana and back in 28 hours can I have one?
I just met burt two weeks ago in pigeon forge Tennessee at bubba fest. What a legend. He really seemed to be frail. They had help in and out of the venue. What a shame. One of my favorite movies of all time. Time gets everyone.

I WANT ONE !!!!
That car is freakin' BEAUTIFUL!!! I'd love to add one to my flock of Birds.
+Carlos Clivilles Gets you one before they are all gone and the prices go up.
This is simple: I WANT ONE!
same.
Damn right!
be ready to drop over a hundred grand to half a million because your never gonna find one with only 77
Mark Staite ueueur
Mark Staite Hells yeah! Shit's bad ass, man!
I'm from West Palm Beach, Florida. I had the pleasure of seeing him in the seventies driving that car around town. That man was nothing less than drop dead gorgeous. He's getting up there now. Still a handsome old bird. The car ain't bad either.
I have always called them honeycomb wheels.
bob abraham dam me too
👍🏽bob abraham 🇺🇸
Snowflake and Honeycomb wheels are different, my 78 has the factory 15" Snowflakes
I would barbecue my ass in molasses for one of those! I did own a '77 TA and I must say, that car handled like a dream.
Many conversions look cool. I remember seeing this concept a while ago. This design is the one! So says me and Burt Reynolds!
"Get me a Diablo sandwich and a Docta Peppa!"
Breaker, Breaker! Ain't no brakes when driving that machine! Yeow!
Good news...happy to see this automotive attribution to the Bandit and Burt's name on it. 77 Burt.
Once again...GREAT JOB guys ...I LOVE IT !!! From the build to the marketing !!! Just frigging wonderful !!!
This new Bandit car is really cool, I just wish Steve McQueen was still alive and Ford would have a Steve McQueen Signature Mustang Bullet car.
Andy Lonewolf They did! I believe in 2002 and 05.
wish it didnt have the body of a camaro to look more unique, but i still love it
sevan grigoryan
camaro and the Birds always shared similar panels and other mechanics This car is very unique
sevan grigoryan Trans Ams always had the Camaro body, with different nose and tails, so they created it just like in the old days.

LOL The Hasselhoff edition. I do love Knight Rider.
You, and I plus a lot of Knight Rider fans, maybe there was Smokey and the Bandit fan who watched the series is waiting for that too. All we need is David Hasselhoff approval of the Trans Am then will be another hit out of the park
Oh man I hope they can make Kit!
Michael Hastrup Bendsen now you're talking my language! 🖒
I thaugh the same thing.
My graduation present was a 1983 black Trans Am tan interior with t-tops and the black plate wheels. It was my KITT!
Is a modified Camaro, right?
MigSu pue ram yes it is and back in the day of Camaro and firebird some parts were actually interchangeable I had a friend with a '67 Camaro with a '67 firebird front clip . Really confused everyone !
Dave H lol ok thanks
wow really!! they tell you its a camaro right at the beginning of the video!! And how can out not know!!
MigSu pue ram well the original was built off a camaro too. so why not now lol.
Right. IMO, the coolest thing is the T tops....Camaros don't have 'em anymore.
Burt Reynolds .....> RESPECT !!!!!!
With the success of the FF series... I smell a movie remake comin'
+Carlos Pacheco NOT!!! With Walker being dead its over.
Please, no remakes, Hollywood has already ruined enough classics.
+Carlos Pacheco Yeh with CGI and an all girl cast.
Sorry to hear that The Bandit has passed on at 82 you will always be remembered.R.I.P.Bandit
You can not be of my loins boy...🏆
There's no way..no way you could have come from my loins..lol
What we have here is total disrespect for the law!
+Dan Goldsmith LMFAO!
Rock on! what kind of cop car could catch this MONSTER !!
complete lack of respect fo' da law
Dan Goldsmith and amen and hallelujah for that! 😆
I'm Buford T. Justice..
I Would LOVE To Have A New Trans Am Bandit Edition!
I'm more of an import guy but Woooow this is an American Icon back on the road and it has Burt Reynolds signature 😱I grew up watching this guy come on ! Man gave me goosebumps
1970's Trans Am and Burt Reynolds are both originals, true legends.
bring back those GTO'S, too
Jack Gentry they are back boi!
The Bandit is Back on the Run 🏁
i admit, im not for modern remakes of old cars, but this car, they got it on point! as someone who saw smokey and the bandit on opening night, i have to give this car a stamp of approval right here, after all, the legend himself approved of it
77' saw the movie at a drive in. In the old man " Boat" 76 Chevy Impela. in front of us were two " Bandit" cars also there. funny how you can have total recall from 40 yrs ago. Love that car and Burt made it like peanut butter and JAM!!!
Think I just found my dream car......
+Steve Savory Damn right!!!
Did anyone know that Burt Reynolds played Quarterback at Florida State?
Running Back
Running Back at Florida State. Go 'Noles!!!!
I thought he was a half back and sometimes a receiver. I realize that is splitting hairs lol but I used to look forward to his commentary on the Bobby Bowden football show on Sunday afternoon's. I played high school football because of the longest yard (The original)
I love that bandit logo genius !!!!
It's hard to see all your childhood movie stare getting old or dead, just looking at Bert Reynolds now,I can't help but to remember him when he was young,in all his classic movies, still old is gold to me,just like the old car.
Excellent video.
☆☆☆☆☆ Mr. Reynolds ☆☆☆☆☆,
You were the legend back then and you'll be the legend FOREVER. !
Thank you ever so much for the memories .
BLESSINGS to you & to your crew.
Two iconic legends....
Screw a Lambo and a Bugatti.. This car!!
Ty James Your post changed my life. I realized you are a douche.
