Great song. The fact they managed to get the banjo to sound in place with the song aswell as an Organ speaks alot about their musicianship. I wish more "famous" metal bands took this kind of approach to music.
Cody Southwind It's called genre experimentation, and it really is something more bands should do. And no, they didn't "get lucky." They're just talented.
I'm a bluegrass musician, but I listen to Sonata Arctica and they're probably my favorite band. For years I've thought about how banjo would fit in power metal / driving metal, because as odd as it might sound, it's pretty much the same kind of music, and then Sonata Arctica once again proved to me why they are so awesome, making the thoughts I had in my head become a reality.
I once played this song on endless repeat throughout an entire day at work. Never. Got. Old. That was over 6 years ago. It *_still_* hasn't gotten old.
Sonata Arctica is amazing. I like many kinds of music, but theirs is the best. All their songs are great, as opposed to 2 or 3 in the whole album like other artists nowadays.
If I one day found my way back home One more ride for the hell of it If I one day found my way back home I would tell you how I love you so One more time for the road tonight, honey One more try just for the hell of it Cinder blocks are keeping me inside Wall so thick, cold yet benign One more time for the road tonight, honey One more try just for the hell of it Can I stay away from you If I get out of here soon? Would the road be paved by my mistakes, by the law or by you? Every wall in here is blue, Every man here knows you too We have seen your every curve, The sole good purpose you serve Yeah! …I'm safe, I'm safe in here from you, I know 'cause you can't make me do things I would not otherwise do One more time for the road tonight, honey One more try just for the hell of it Can I stay away from you If I get out of here soon? Would the road be paved by my mistakes, by the law or by you? Every wall in here is blue, Every man here knows you too We have seen your every curve, The sole good purpose you serve When you're done with your wining and dining You make a man do things that wind him up in jail Can I stay away from you If I get out of here soon? Would the road be paved by my mistakes, by the law or by you? Every wall in here is blue, Every man here knows you too We have seen your every curve, The sole good purpose you serve Yeah!
when he says that the road might get paved by her does it mean that he would live for her (and kill for her) or that he would run her over on his way home from jail?
love the banjo work, has a powerful sound for the instrament. the song is almost as humorous as it is creepy, but love. can't wait to see them in NYC Dec 6th.
This piece of art is just so perfect! I have nothing to complain here, not a single bit! I love how they smoothly mixed two genres and the oldschool Sonata-Sound in the refrain! Best part though are the solos and what comes after, just so freaking kickass!
Me and SA parted ways awhile ago when I got tired of listening to The Cage on repeat and the blazing riffs of Wolf and Raven started getting stale to me, but coming back to their music like, 5 years later, I have to say I'm impressed with how much they've evolved. This song in particular goes a long way to show how much they're willing to try something new. I daresay that Unia even got me back into them to some extent.
I personally enjoyed the whole album, and I have enjoyed every album that they have ever released. If you expect them to keep the same sounds for 15 years you are just delusional, get with the times and accept their choice to switch it up
Amazing, I still want to see a Saxophone get the main melody in a Power Metal song. And I agree, a banjo do fit. It's dynamic, fast and clean. Still waiting for a sax Tony.
Only Sonata has combined bluegrass and metal successfully; this song is the staple of their experimental musical success...so far. ;-) I have a feeling more is to come.
In the beginning I didn't really like it but the more I listened to it, the more it kinda grew on me. Now I could listen to it the whole day long :D The whole album is pure awesomeness \m/
This song is awesome, When i listened to it for the first time i just became sure that Tony finally went crazy... Awesome work and arranges.... The entire album is not one of their best works, Not even close to The Days of Grays, but i still find it really nice and the change of style is something wich SA got us used to, so it is still a good album. (y).
That guitar solo is amazing, bands that use solos in near every song like SA, maiden and my favourites, dragonforce are the reason metal stays exciting. Always something new no matter how old or how many albums or songs written!
Maiden and Dragonforce can only be exciting if you're 12 yrs old. What about Primal Fear, Tarot, Brother Firetribe, H.E.A.T., Gotthard... you know metal bands that actual release good, tasteful music.
This was the album that brought back my fate in them. After two boring and lacked of power albums, came this album that not only have more fast and melodic songs but in general all its songs are happy again, like the old Sonata. At least their took again their happy and melodic style with this album, and forgot that nightmare suffered in Unia and The days of grays... what a dark, slow and weird albums they were
Yep. But they manage to keep this astounding quality since Unia, even if it takes some time to get used to each album. And, on a side note, your user name is fantastic. From the depths of despair, wings ablaze in majestic light. :)
Despite sounding so different, and even having a fucken banjo, I feel this song at many points goes back to the style of Winterheart's Guild or something. There's the definite power metal in there. It's awesome.
The people who don't like the album probably only gave it one listen. I bought it when it came out and I only liked it 2-3 months later. because the first time I listened to it, it didn't brought what I wanted from it, what I liked from the last album (I didn't liked "The days of grays" after the first listen too) but after 3-4 maybe 5 listens... I can't get off it. This is probably what people think when they listen to it. They listen 1 time and get past ever detail that makes it what it is.
in my opinion they are the same of the past years, but now they are trying new ways, and it's right...an artist must change something in years of work! =) obviously this is my opinion =)
Great song. The fact they managed to get the banjo to sound in place with the song aswell as an Organ speaks alot about their musicianship. I wish more "famous" metal bands took this kind of approach to music.

EPIC BANJO IS EPIC. Seriously, extremely addictive banjo and melody. Can't stop listening.

The new one is completely amazing and perfect. That's the one that really got me back into them.
Man I love this one... I just saw them live and this one rocked the hell out of that concert
My favorite "normal-lenght" song from this album, both this and Only the broken hearts are far too short.
"Every walll in here is blueeeeeee, every man here knows you tooooo" ♫ Love the song, is so awesome!
My favorite song of this album, I think.. for now, anyway, until I am in the mood for another Sonata Arctica song. ♥ Just so amazing!
sonata plus banjo string bass and a fiddle.. who knew it would be awesome
Didn't care much for this album as a whole, but this song really stands out.
Exactly. Only song I liked from this album
same, but seriously are there any songs that are good, i just can't get into listening it. Same with the ninth hour
I personally enjoyed the whole album, and I have enjoyed every album that they have ever released. If you expect them to keep the same sounds for 15 years you are just delusional, get with the times and accept their choice to switch it up

Really? I think it’s one of their best. It is to this era what Reckoning Night was to the Jani era.
Amazing, I still want to see a Saxophone get the main melody in a Power Metal song. And I agree, a banjo do fit. It's dynamic, fast and clean.
Still waiting for a sax Tony.
Check out Suspyre - Reign.
so amazing, I just can feel the magic texture of the music, between the electric guitar and the banjo :3
mañana en costarica la voy a escuchar en vivo q felicidad
A Power Metal band with a banjo? Ballsy yet SO fucking awesome
Only Sonata has combined bluegrass and metal successfully; this song is the staple of their experimental musical success...so far. ;-)
I have a feeling more is to come.
"Can I stay away from you when I get out of her soon" lol
I listened to Manala for 2 months straight at work, Rauta is definitely one of my favorites.
the guitar solo is just AMAZING!!!!
totally agree.. played the whole cd a couple times and this one just captures me everytime , so different and cool

Stilling loving the banjo in 2018
2019
Never thought I'd meet an AC fan on an SA vid... pleased to meet ya!
In the beginning I didn't really like it but the more I listened to it, the more it kinda grew on me. Now I could listen to it the whole day long :D The whole album is pure awesomeness \m/
Cuando la escuché por primera vez dije que diablos es esto, ahora me encanta
That was great! I just love the mixing!
ME ENCANTO! nunca imagine que un Banjo encajara tan bien en el rock! :D

My avourite song from the album. They need more experiments like this :D
We can just call it Sonata Arctica. Noone else can rock this hard.
Definitelly, this song becomes one of my favorite ones by Sonata Arctica
Foda pra caramba. Keep going on sonata artica. Best regards
Wow That's impressive.
Bright side to everything!
Old school, Johnny Cash-style country mixed with metal needs to be a thing.
Like Volbeat?
@@aslanmane Good point, that is kind of what Volbeat is.
@@cabbageguy6243 But I do wish there were more bands occupying the microgenre.

my favorite song of the album.
i didn't think i would like it but this is good =)
Only 1 word: EPIC!
Indeed. I await with baited breath for the next step.
>banjo
>automatically country
And then we give people outside of metal a hard time for not understanding the nuances of the genre.
accreate name, bro.

Gurpreet Saini Stop living in cliches!
Steven Lornie Brother Firetribe isn't even metal, they're just modern hard rock like GnR, yet you come in here telling people what metal to enjoy :P
Steven Lornie
Why can't I like both Dragonforce and Primal Fear? :p
great song

too sad for me not having a ps2... though a super gaming pc is good!
SA ROCKS!
They really did something different with this album. While I prefer their older albums, I still appreciate that this album exists.
Nice slap bass @3:15
This song is better than the others of the album...
I..like this :O
You have to read everything that kakko writes about his songs...
only if you understand the phases of sonata, you will love their music...
that's the only song from their new album that caught my ear...
personally, I like their "ecliptica" and "silence" times more...
wonder why ild like to hear laiho feat that song xD with the banjo he like that trollolol
in my opinion they are the same of the past years, but now they are trying new ways, and it's right...an artist must change something in years of work! =)
obviously this is my opinion =)
Da fuckin' banjo mastah!
What do we call this? Heavy Country? Heavy Banjo?
