If you don't have the language environment in real life, the game VRCHAT would be a good choice. (That's my way to learn English, Japanese and Spanish as a native Chinese speaker who has never been abroad yet, and it also works for my foreign friends) I hope this helps😊

It’s hard for me to accept mandarin as my language because it’s Mongolian influenced Chinese. Xi’an dialect which was the ancient capital of China before Beijing retains more older form of Chinese and has similar features to Cantonese, Hakka and Fujian dialect.
Me too, my ancestry speakes Fujian dialect so its kind of difficult at first to learn mandarin, but i found that speaking mandarin with a southern accent makes it so much more acceptable. Like the accent from people of taiwan, fujian, guangdong provinces
the reason why I think female and male can't be friend is because the male will realise her feminine side when he'll appreciate her help, because when a male appreciates his male friend he'll go monster mood brother/fighter mood and when he'll apreciate the female's help he'll realise the feminine side of her and fall for it mostly, that's how I see it
