Gee you wouldn't want the door to get jammed. 6:50 The tv room was pretty funny too. 8:57 Ohhh contraband (Maccas). I'm not surprised to hear you were cold during the night, I''ve often thought it would be ice cold in a gaol for inmates, especially during the 1800s and early 1900s. I'm coming over in October and would love to stay there for the night with my teen, it looks amazing. I may have to plan another trip and go to Christchurch as my Aussie schoolmate lives in Christchurch.

That prison room looks as good as anything we stay in while travelling 😂..and I loved that you seemed confused about the guests keeping their cooking staples in the shared kitchen - this is very normal practice in hostels, caravan parks, and other povo accom options 😂
I served the lady who owns the candy shoppe at Riverside and she was so cute! She was saying that people have come in and said they saw the store on TH-cam, I said imagine what it will be like when we open back up because Danger and Stacey have so many international viewers and she said "It's already busy enough" 😍 it's so lovely that you guys can help out local businesses like that

I stayed there when I was touring with my dad and the whole thing became even more authentic on our second morning when the boiler packed in and we had to have cold showers 🚿
Great video. You need to get back over to the UK and stay in some of our converted prisons :D The cell you went into with the glass panel in the floor to me looked like it could have been the hanging cell so that would have been where they dropped on the rope!
Seeing all facial expressions from Stacey on the episode, I think you guys should consider doing a mini series on unique shoestring budget travel experiences. Because not everyone still has a job and/or can indulge on their travel or expensive porridge due to Covid 🙂
Oh my goodness I was cracking up even before we got 1 minute into the video. Stacey's face!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Then Dane points at the luggage rack and claims you guys have a couch! 🤣 *enters a pitch black room* "this is just creepy" *switches on light" "Oh!" But on amore serious note, I expect people probably are living at the hostel based on those kitchen boxes. I did a working holiday visa out in Canada for a year and arrived in Toronto just as they were going into their 'off' season so they had excellent month long deals. Was nice to be able to secure a job first, then find an apartment that had a good commute afterwards. Maybe with Covid and less international travellers, the hostel have offered something similar? 🤷♀️ Sad to see the end of the series, but excited for what is to come!

I stay in hostels less and less these days, but I always found the staff to be proper highlights, beacon of local knowledge for budget options... and I imagine not having the staff to welcome you both didn't help! 😔

Haha your interpretation on Stace's face is 100% accurate.... we actually did stay the night! Though, I'm surprised no one mentioned the fact I'm wearing the same clothes the following morning with the bags. We skipped out on the showers and had one at our friends place instead 😂

I don't know if it's still there but years ago I camped overnight in a jail cell in cheviot. A guy was just starting a little campground.
