    I can't believe i still know every second of this song. This whole album, really.

      It's really weird isn't it. When it came out I was aware of it but never actively listened to it, just had it on in the background when someone stuck it on, yet... I remember a whole lot of the lyrics and most of the music. It's a sign there was a lot more to it from a pop-music angle (and I really don't mean that in a derogatory way) than most gave them credit for at the time.

    Linkin Park's first two albums are hands down responsible for introducing metal to larger audience during time when hip hop and rap completely taken over the radio stations.

      live in texas was remixed and arranged in the studio. they don’t sound live like that at all. not bad but still not like on that live album. anyway i love live in texas too, some songs are really better performed especially by chester. papercut live in texas for example is my fav. the live screams are so on point.

    Those first 2 Linkin Park albums were so massive when they came out. I remember being floored by the production, the songs, and the power of Chester's vocals. It was the last time I remember new rock music being a big exciting thing on radio. I never really dug much that they did from Minutes to Midnight onward, though there were some good songs, I just feel like the thing that I loved them for was gone, and that was that revolutionary production those first 2 albums had. It's like they devolved from their peak of musicianship. Most bands work up to albums like those.

    • @Chad-tf5vc
      @Chad-tf5vc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      thats how it was for me as well. im a big lamb of god fan and when Mark Morton came out with his solo album he had a song featuring Chester on vocals. Cross off is the track and in an interview with mark, he stated that Chester wanted to get back into the the harder rock that they came from. Cross off was one of the last, if not the last tracks that Chester recorded. If you havent heard it you should check it out, its a damn good track and Chester is phenomenal as usual. He passed before they could film the music video for it.

    What a great band and such a shame that Chester went through what he did behind the scenes. You've hit a couple off their first (great) major album now, but if you ever circle back to them and move on to others, you should definitely check out Lying From You from Meteora... It's almost two songs in one between Mike and Chester's sections, along with a MONSTER breakdown towards the end!!
    Oh, and Slipknot is the band you were thinking about with the beer kegs! 👍

    The "PING" overdub on the kick reminds me of a blacksmith's hammer striking an anvil. The song is about someone being forged by an abusive person and finally finding the strength to stand up to them. Every "PING" is like another awful abusive thing they had to go through until they finally found the strength to push back. The "PING" is like the only silver lining of any abusive relationship - you hurt me but at least now I know what abuse looks like so I can be prepared if it ever happens again.
    I was in high school when this album dropped. I remember most people saying it was "boo hoo my dad is mean" cringe. Linkin Park were masters of their craft long before they ever released Hybrid Theory.

    Although I lost interest in Linkin Park after their second album Meteora, I still rock out to them. I love the way they mixed electronic/DJ type sound into a rockin melody... Oh, and the deep bass hits. IMHO Meteora was their "Black" Album . It was good , just not like the first album.... I got to see Chester in a band called "Grey Daze" play at the grand opening of the first Guitar Center in Arizona. They were more Grunge/Pop/Punk back then. They were pretty good, but I'm glad Chester joined Linkin Park. Double up Please !!! JR & LH -Ho's Down!!

    I remember Linkin Park being super popular in my middle school and way too many kids were wearing their shirts at the same time. Me being one of them. Hybrid Theory came out when I was in 6th grade and was all anyone was listening to. I also remember the shift that happened once I reached high school. It was my first week of 9th grade and this really attractive older girl looked down at my shirt and said "Still listen to Linkin Park, huh?" Times were different back then. When people strived to be better. To mature and become deeper more meaningful people.

    He was so incredibly talented. His voice was so good live.

    when I was younger I used to run two 10" subs with a 600 watt kenwood amp running about just under half power ( even then I craved quality over knocking the mirror of my windshield) anyway when I would play this song that bass drop was pretty full and thrilling because I spent serious time tuning the sound profile to the point i wasnt doing that thing where freq's cancel each other out and such.. Im just surprised my ath-m50x headset isnt doing the bass full justice, these puppies can rock n roll. Anyway good luck with your rotator , I did some damage to my left one a few years back and didnt see a doctor.. It took 8.5 months for it to not completely suck ..However I am wishing I had taken care of it like you are .. stay schwifty dude.

    This was the recommended song? I like the song but it definitely isn't the first one to come to mind when I think Linkin Park.

    After hearing this, other bands you should check out sometime would be Dredg, and maybe 10 Years, both have similar vibes/feels of this band but are different and unique enough to really appreciate them as a different experience.

    I think that metal sound is Mr. Hahn (DJ). He'll take sounds from animes like gundam and mix them in songs. I heard this probably thousands of time. To me their 3rd album is the peek linkin park. It can be hard to listen to because of what happen to the lead singer. The 1st song on the album is called "giving up"
