My wife Sandy and I just watched your twin story and can so relate. We we’re married at 19 and at 22 had our first pregnancy. When we felt Sandy’s belly we felt lots of movement. We even ask the doctor if she could be having twins but were assured that we weren’t. (Pre ultrasound)On the delivery table when the doctor said “that’s a very small head for this big of a baby I almost passed out and left the room I don’t think Sandy even realized that I had left. I was afraid that was something wrong and cried out to God. Then the nurse poked her head in the waiting room door and said congratulations Pop! You’ve got a beautiful daughter. I asked if everything was OK and she said yes. A few minutes later she came back into the room and said well Pop you got another one just like her! At first I couldn’t believe it but when I realized it was true I instantly remembered a prayer that I had prayed as a nine-year-old boy with one much older brother who picked on me constantly ha ha. My prayer was oh God please let me have twin daughters someday. And oh please let them be beautiful. And he did and they are. Thank you for doing this series it’s really blessing us. We’re not Amish but we identify with some of your struggles. God is good and love never fails.
My mother is Dutch. My great grandfather came to the US through the Dutch Church and lived in Schenectady NY. Then moved to Iowa. My grandfather moved to Nebraska purchased land/farm. When my mother married she moved to California where I was born.We had no running water until I was a teenager. My parents had 15 children three sets of twins. I have a twin sister. My mother spoke the dutch language which we all learned as children. My mother encouraged all of us children to get jobs very young. I truly loved working as a young person. All of my siblings have became very successful. So glad my family was hard working. Judy
I hope you continue with your stories. I had a similar story as a Missionary in the wilderness in British Columbia. We had only one church for all denominations including mennonites those who were Sumaveltor mennonites, spirit filled mennonites, Dutch Reformed and pentcostals, spirit filled Baptist. We ran a school with the mennonites as teachers.

This is the reason why I love the internet. So many different walks of life and the ability to learn every day. I would love videos or stories on tasks that might help families understand how you would tend to a property or use horses with gardening or logging. I grew up running heaving machines and fascinated how the Amish build, look for land, build homes, etc. You both are amazing!!
This was so interesting. We also grew up with an outhouse as well. I was born in the fifties and young ones laugh today when we tell them we cut up newspaper into squares and stuck it on a nail in the outhouse. Toilet paper from the shop was not available. I have never had a clothes dryer, always dry our washing on the clothes line outside in the sun. There are quite a few people who are turning back to the older ways here in Australia. A lot of people even living in cities have veggie garden. We live on a small suburban block and my husband built me a chicken house during COVID lockdown an we now have 4 hens. Our veggie garden takes up half of our backyard. Blessings Gail.
I live in Parke County Indiana, and there's a huge Amish presence here. But they are very traditional Amish. There are horses and Buggies frequently going down the main main roads. For a while I used to drive the Amish around to places that we're too far to get in horse and buggy. I kind of admire their life Style. Sometimes in the fall I will just go park on a back-road and watch them Harvest with their non-traditional Machinery. Thanks for sharing your story 😁

Favorite memory as a child with Amish was corn boils and taffy pulls, and YES, ice skating...the hymn sings were all in English, but it was awesome fun...im glad you are informing ppl about the Amish ppl, they are devoted, loving ppl, and they took this little English girl and tucked me into their community, it was a special gift THEY gave me...the area was called Big Valley here in Pa...

So much closeness, mutual respect, and fun, a sense of enjoying each other's company, comes through. The way you two look at each other when you talk shows true love. So fun listening. I got into these you tube videos because I have a lot of Amish farms next to me in the town I just moved to in Maine. It seems as though they are jut building up the community in the town. Bought some baked goods from them and they were delicious!
What part of Maine? I just moved to Maine from the Colorado Rockies and settled amongst an Amish community. I love it! Their Pioneer store is the best store I've been in as far as the kind of things I need and like! Such a great assortment. 🤗

We hung out clothes even in the winter. We loved to take the jeans off the line because they were stiff! I agree that nothing smells better than outdoor air dried clothes.
My step daughter asked me what kind of softener I use for my sheets and blankets smell so good. I answered: the cheapest. And I just dry them in winter in the frost, and in summer in the sun. My mother taught me to dry things in a strong line, for they should even hang beautiful. I Iive in Ukraine and was brought in the village.

I do admire the Amish. A community that relies on each other and families that work and play hard together. This will sound weird. Even though my family lived in Highland Park, Los Angeles, I used to help mom wash clothes in a standing tub with a washboard and ring out the clothes thru a ringer. My mom hung up the wash. I was not tall enough to hang the wash. We could not afford a washer or dryer.
Thank You so much for sharing your life story, I really enjoyed, especially since I am not an Amish, but I moved to Chambersburg, PA, many years back and have a country home across from a Mennonite church, and I enjoy so much watching the families arriving on Sunday morning for mass! I love to see the the children with their traditional dresses. I would like to share with you both that I had a very similar life growing up in Europe, Portugal where I was born, therefore I feel at home in Pennsylvania! You talk about having the horses trim the grass.😂 That doesn't seem so strange. We have a small herd of sheep in California. Well because we live in high risk area for wildfires. Our homes must be essentially clear of vegetation for 100 feet or the forestry department will fine us. So in the spring everyone on the mountain is either clearing their property or paying someone to do it. But my son just closes the front gate & let's the sheep out. Sheep eat everything to the ground. We have to keep a fence around our gardens & fruit trees. But we don't have to worry about having a defendable fire break.
I would like to hear about the “religious” aspect of being Amish. What is the belief system? What do you learn about God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, and maybe the “whys” as to how you dress and how you live (without modern conveniences, etc)?
each Amish and Mennonite community is different but they are Anabaptist The Amish believe that God has called them to be completely separate from the world and its negative influences. Choosing to wear clothing that sets them apart as different immediately divides them from the English. The choice to dress a certain way strengthens the community’s bonds and declares their commitment to the principles of the Amish church. In addition, humility is an important and central part of the Amish beliefs. They maintain that dressing as you please creates pride in your appearance or choices. According to the Old Ways, if one individual stands out within a group, that person tends to develop boastful ideas about his or her success or individuality. Instituting a dress code, then, is meant to keep the Amish away from pride so that they can spend their time focusing on the state of their heart and soul, not the outward appearance.
I am not Amish but I actually grew up with ‚running water‘ as in ‚you have to run and get it‘ too. Never thought to call it that 😂. I grew up in a cabin in the mountains. I always dreaded brushing my teeth in the morning because the spring-water was so cold 🥶. It did wake you up in a flash though! Great memories

I enjoyed your story so much because my life was similar to yours. We weren't Amish, but I think our beliefs are close. I am 81 years old, now. As a child, I had to work and our parents taught us God's Word and taught us how to live a good life. I am so thankful for the teaching and love that our parents gave us.

I find it fascinating that, in spite of NOT being Amish at all (Detroit suburban upbringing) there are many parallels from your Amish life and my upbringing in the 50's into the 60's. Hanging up the wash, a slower life. Being expected to be creative and occupy ourselves. Working in and around the house. No pay! Not such a bad life,eh? Really rather nice way to grow up
Yes I would like to hear more. I grew up in Maryland, my husband in PA. Always liked the Amish in our area. Always nice in the market place in spring and summer. I thought they were Holy people and wish I could live with them. I use to hide in the woods and watch the family who had no electric, or running water but were most likely Mennonite. I realize now they had to know I was there but just went about thier business.
Your farm life sounds similar to that of my grandparents in Illinois. I've always admired the pioneers. It is hard work. It builds character. Many countries still live like that. My grandmother had a wringer washer in her basement that she used when I was growing up.
I love learning about the Amish - actually I have been quite intrigued with the lifestyle - so community oriented unlike the selfish ways of the world. Also learned just a couple of days ago about the Hutterites - didn't even know there were people like them - so it was really wonderful to hear you guys. How beautiful would this lifestyle be if it could be combined with an understanding of God's Grace and incorporating it in the community's way of life. Blessings in Christ Jesus.
Thanks for posting such an interesting video. I grew up in northwest Ohio and I saw Amish people quite often. An Amish work crew built an addition on my next door neighbor's house and we would see them around our small town doing other construction projects. When I turned 17, I worked at the local hospital and Amish women were often admitted to have their babies. Generally when one Amish woman came to have a baby, about 15 to 20 of the family would also be on hand and would come in and out of the cafeteria where I worked. I always admired the hand made leather suspenders that the men wore (odd thing for a kid to notice) and I think I even asked one of the men if he knew where I could buy them. I don't recall the answer. As a young guy, I would notice the cute girls with the group and would often try to strike up some conversation with very little success. I was probably ignorant of protocols and hopefully I never got any of them in any trouble. I've always kind of admired the simpler life they led and how they basically provided for themselves without a lot of outside help or influence. Thanks again.
I really appreciate this video. You mention you had lived in Missouri, although for a very short time. I was born and raised on a farm in Missouri, actually in a large community of Amish. We all went to a one room school house. Missouri, at least in my area, now there is a different group/sect of Amish. I am wondering where in Missouri you were in. Also, the dialect spoken when I was a little girl was Swiss/Deutsch. Thank you.
This was cool to watch. My mother’s adoptive father grew up Amish. When he decided to be “english” he joined the army and moved away from home. He met my grandmother and they married and he adopted her daughter (my mother.) Years later he retired and moved back to the amish community he grew up in and drove people from the community to their dr’s offices or wherever they needed to go. My family went back to meet his family and they were very welcoming. I just remember thinking it was so cool to see all the horse and buggies.
My Grandpa grew up Amish/Mennonite in Central/Southern Illinois. Moved away to Chicago and entered the Navy. I have had such an interest in how my Ancestors came from Zurich Switzerland, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio to Illinois. The stories I have discovered and their journey to me I think is so fascinating and interesting. Tell us more!
To Priscilla....Thank you for keeping your modesty. You look beautiful, but still modest. i just watched a channel of a couple of sisters that were brought up Amish, that have totally switched to looking like the world, trying to show their bodies. it saddened me to see that they totally switched. It breaks my heart. You are proof that a woman can look beautiful, have beautiful hair, dress gorgeous but decent and remain modest and on top of that stay modest but firm in your talk, be a great mother and wife. Thank you for such a great channel.
Enjoying your videos. I strted building log homes (scribe fit) in Kalispell in the mid 70s, then moved to Alaska, and had my own business up there till we hit an oil recession. My boys ran my Shield Bantam crane when they were young, too. I bought them a toy crane with most of the functions, which they learned quickly, then took them out where I was clearing my log yard in the winter, and they skidded logs with me running the tongs. Many wonderful memories. I was noticing the log wall behind you was very well worked. We're retired, now in North Idaho. Religious forms were very big in Jesus' time, also, and that took some doing (even for the Holy Spirit!) getting people to understand the heart of the Father and how it was supposed to me. I have read so many books on the Amish. I like learning of different nations and cultures and recipes. The Amish were brought up in a stricter home to be different and more mannerly.
Thanks for sharing your story! We have a few Mennonite friends; they have such a great work ethic! Growing up in any denomination can just be religious if we don't understand God's grace.

So enjoyed your story. Though I am not Amish , I grew up in a little village in Switzerland with 8 siblings. I went to a village school for my first 6 years in one room with 8 different classes. We had to help and learned to work in the family business. Thank you for sharing.

I too grew up in Michigan and lived their until I was 19 years old and moved to California.In 1974 I joined a Spiritual Community in Santa Barbara that had several ranches, orchards, and farms.I would say the way we lived in brother/sisterhood was much like the Amish which I came to admire in many ways.I lived there for almost nine years.I learned to garden and grow food, milk a cow and goats, took care of 200 chickens, lived with outhouses, kerosene lamps,sewed on a treadle sewing machine, cook and bake on a wood burning stove, spin, knit, etc.As well learned to run the the natural food stores in town.I left to go back to school and have a family but i have never regretted what I learned.We too sang with guitars and A Capella. Yes, please record your stories of how you met and transitioned to a somewhat more modern life and what you have passed down to your children.My former MIL was from a Mennonite family & farm in Huron, South Dakota.She too taught in a one room schoolhouse after attending Tabor College.

Hello I just started watching you on TH-cam I didn’t grow up Amish but we had the same child hood one the farm in Saskatchewan Canada 🇨🇦. went to a one room school we didn’t have indoor plumbing or electricity and had 2 horses dad would take us to school horse and sleigh in winter in those days the snow would be really deep our house had only 4 rooms there was 6 kids one brother the rest girls mom also washed clothes in a ringer wash machine with a motor to keep our dairy cold in summer dad would put the milk in a pail attached to a rope and lower in the well Watertown keep cool thank you for the videos brings back home 🏡

We grew up in a very conservative church, not Amish, but I can relate to many of the ways and traditions. I appreciate your respect for your background as I do for mine even though I don't belong to that group now. Our home was just a few miles from the Sugarcreek, Ohio Amish community.
I just found your channel. Thank you for sharing your life with us - fascinating. Priscilla you brought back fond memories for me - my Maternal grandfather immigrated from Switzerland when he was about 13 years old. He spoke Switzerdeutch (I hope I spelled that correctly). He was a staunch and loving man. Funny thing though - he had an accent and when we got older and we asked our mom about it - she told us the story of his coming to America - but told us never to mention the accent to grandpa - he learned English by himself and was very proud of that and DID NOT think he had an accent.
I drive tour busses. I live in Ohio and go to the Amish areas there, Indiana and Pennsylvania. I love to go to the Amish Area and step back to a different pace in life. Wish I could stay awhile to get out of life's ratrace. So peaceful and relaxing.

It was an interesting story. I watched it when it originally aired and it was just as interesting the second time. It is your story but it educates your audience about your culture.
Just happened upon your video and my husband and I enjoyed hearing about your upbringing. We came to know Jesus Christ as our Savior & LORD after 12 years of marriage (42 yrs ago) growing up & being raised in a main line'religion'. Having a relationship with the LORD and knowing the price He paid for our redemption is a sharp contrast to man's rules of religion. We would love to hear your testimony's of faith. We grew up 2 hours from Lancaster, PA and visited the Amish/Mennonite communities many times. We stayed at an Old Order Amish homes and had good fellowship with the Bishop and his wife. We also were invited to visit with a young family who invited us to their home (met at a store) to encourage them. After coming to know Jesus their families shunned them. God allowed a good time of fellowship and encouragement with them. So many good memories.... 1 Corinthians 15:1-4

I just found your channel by chance and enjoyed it so much! I’ve subscribed and hope to go back and watch some previous episodes as I look forward to new ones. So very interesting! And even though my family isn’t Amish, I can relate . My grandpa farmed about 240 acres all by horse pulled equipment. He would take me to a local store, sometimes to sell eggs by horse and buggy. They had no plumbing, no phones, no electricity, and I loved going to their house everyday. I loved gathering the eggs, milking the cow, just playing in the barn and making our own fun. They truly lived a pioneer life style and I wouldn’t take anything for those memories. I’m sad my kids will never experience what I did. I think the simple Amish lifestyle is something most people could benefit from. I look so forward to watching more of your videos.

This was the 2nd video that I watched. I am so happy I found your channel. I am learning so much from you. When I lived in Michigan many years ago, we would go to Shipshewana, IN to go to the Amish community and would go shopping there. My husband and I were so curious and desired to know more about the Amish. Their life seemed so beautiful with their large families, community commitment, etc. At that time we did not realize that they did not know Jesus. They were religious but …Your people are beautiful and have given you a beautiful heritage. Praise God that you now know Jesus and walk in his following.
Although I am not Amish , I did grow up about the same way. In the mountains, 4,000 ft. level. It was the family farm/ranch. One gravity flow faucet in the kitchen. Cold only. I mean ice cold. It was from a spring. We used the outhouse. Even built a two seater. 😊 Had many animals. Milked our cows. Washer was a wringer. A garden of course. And the push mower? I still prefer it over a regular lawn mower. Playing in the hay loft and fishing were good times. We went to the nearest big town once a month for sugar, flour and such. Cooked on a wood stove. I would not trade growing up this way for anything. Taught me much which I have used my entire life. By God's good grace I have passed these values to my son. And he will to his own. The way you two look at each other when you talk shows true love. So fun listening. I got into these you tube videos because I have a lot of Amish farms next to me in the town I just moved to in Maine. It seems as though they are jut building up the community in the town. Bought some baked goods from them and they were delicious!
What part of Maine? I just moved to Maine from the Colorado Rockies and settled amongst an Amish community. I love it! Their Pioneer store is the best store I've been in as far as the kind of things I need and like! Such a great assortment. 🤗

We hung out clothes even in the winter. We loved to take the jeans off the line because they were stiff! I agree that nothing smells better than outdoor air dried clothes.
I do that too and have for years. Even in winter, nothing like fresh clean clothes because they dried in the sun!!

My step daughter asked me what kind of softener I use for my sheets and blankets smell so good. I answered: the cheapest. And I just dry them in winter in the frost, and in summer in the sun. My mother taught me to dry things in a strong line, for they should even hang beautiful.

I do admire the Amish. A community that relies on each other and families that work and play hard together. This will sound weird. Even though my family lived in Highland Park, Los Angeles, I used to help mom wash clothes in a standing tub with a washboard and ring out the clothes thru a ringer. My mom hung up the wash. I was not tall enough to hang the wash. We could not afford a washer or dryer.

Thank You so much for sharing your life story, I really enjoyed, especially since I am not an Amish, but I moved to Chambersburg, PA, many years back and have a country home across from a Mennonite church, and I enjoy so much watching the families arriving on Sunday morning for mass! I love to see the the children with their traditional dresses. I would like to share with you both that I had a very similar life growing up in Europe, Portugal where I was born, therefore I feel at home in Pennsylvania! Please continue sharing your life experiences, because it brings me close to home as well! Thank You, and God Bless your family.

You talk about having the horses trim the grass.😂 That doesn't seem so strange. We have a small herd of sheep in California. Well because we live in high risk area for wildfires. Our homes must be essentially clear of vegetation for 100 feet or the forestry department will fine us. So in the spring everyone on the mountain is either clearing their property or paying someone to do it. But my son just closes the front gate & let's the sheep out. Sheep eat everything to the ground. We have to keep a fence around our gardens & fruit trees. But we don't have to worry about having a defendable fire break.
I would like to hear about the “religious” aspect of being Amish. What is the belief system? What do you learn about God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, and maybe the “whys” as to how you dress and how you live (without modern conveniences, etc)?
each Amish and Mennonite community is different but they are Anabaptist
The Amish believe that God has called them to be completely separate from the world and its negative influences. Choosing to wear clothing that sets them apart as different immediately divides them from the English. The choice to dress a certain way strengthens the community’s bonds and declares their commitment to the principles of the Amish church.
In addition, humility is an important and central part of the Amish beliefs. They maintain that dressing as you please creates pride in your appearance or choices. According to the Old Ways, if one individual stands out within a group, that person tends to develop boastful ideas about his or her success or individuality. Instituting a dress code, then, is meant to keep the Amish away from pride so that they can spend their time focusing on the state of their heart and soul, not the outward appearance.
I am not Amish but I actually grew up with ‚running water‘ as in ‚you have to run and get it‘ too. Never thought to call it that 😂. I grew up in a cabin in the mountains. I always dreaded brushing my teeth in the morning because the spring-water was so cold 🥶. It did wake you up in a flash though! Great memories

I’m interested, among other things, and how are you bridge the world now with your children. You are continuing many of the practices and values that you grew up with, it seems. Yet to have made some distinct changes. The fact that you’re sitting there talking to a video camera or mobile phone or something and referencing popular movies certainly gives witness to some changes! 😊

I enjoyed your story so much because my life was similar to yours. We weren't Amish, but I think our beliefs are close. I am 81 years old, now. As a child, I had to work and our parents taught us God's Word and taught us how to live a good life. I am so thankful for the teaching and love that our parents gave us.

I find it fascinating that, in spite of NOT being Amish at all (Detroit suburban upbringing) there are many parallels from your Amish life and my upbringing in the 50's into the 60's. Hanging up the wash, a slower life. Being expected to be creative and occupy ourselves. Working in and around the house. No pay! Not such a bad life,eh? Really rather nice way to grow up
Yes I would like to hear more. I grew up in Maryland, my husband in PA. Always liked the Amish in our area. Always nice in the market place in spring and summer. I thought they were Holy people and wish I could live with them. I use to hide in the woods and watch the family who had no electric, or running water but were most likely Mennonite. I realize now they had to know I was there but just went about thier business.

Your farm life sounds similar to that of my grandparents in Illinois. I've always admired the pioneers. It is hard work. It builds character. Many countries still live like that. My grandmother had a wringer washer in her basement that she used when I was growing up.

I love learning about the Amish - actually I have been quite intrigued with the lifestyle - so community oriented unlike the selfish ways of the world. Also learned just a couple of days ago about the Hutterites - didn't even know there were people like them - so it was really wonderful to hear you guys. How beautiful would this lifestyle be if it could be combined with an understanding of God's Grace and incorporating it in the community's way of life. Blessings in Christ Jesus.

Thanks for posting such an interesting video. I grew up in northwest Ohio and I saw Amish people quite often. An Amish work crew built an addition on my next door neighbor's house and we would see them around our small town doing other construction projects. When I turned 17, I worked at the local hospital and Amish women were often admitted to have their babies. Generally when one Amish woman came to have a baby, about 15 to 20 of the family would also be on hand and would come in and out of the cafeteria where I worked. I always admired the hand made leather suspenders that the men wore (odd thing for a kid to notice) and I think I even asked one of the men if he knew where I could buy them. I don't recall the answer. As a young guy, I would notice the cute girls with the group and would often try to strike up some conversation with very little success. I was probably ignorant of protocols and hopefully I never got any of them in any trouble. I've always kind of admired the simpler life they led and how they basically provided for themselves without a lot of outside help or influence. Thanks again.
I really appreciate this video. You mention you had lived in Missouri, although for a very short time. I was born and raised on a farm in Missouri, actually in a large community of Amish. We all went to a one room school house. Missouri, at least in my area, now there is a different group/sect of Amish. I am wondering where in Missouri you were in. Also, the dialect spoken when I was a little girl was Swiss/Deutsch. Thank you.

This was cool to watch. My mother’s adoptive father grew up Amish. When he decided to be “english” he joined the army and moved away from home. He met my grandmother and they married and he adopted her daughter (my mother.) Years later he retired and moved back to the amish community he grew up in and drove people from the community to their dr’s offices or wherever they needed to go. My family went back to meet his family and they were very welcoming. I just remember thinking it was so cool to see all the horse and buggies.
My Grandpa grew up Amish/Mennonite in Central/Southern Illinois. Moved away to Chicago and entered the Navy. I have had such an interest in how my Ancestors came from Zurich Switzerland, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio to Illinois. The stories I have discovered and their journey to me I think is so fascinating and interesting. Tell us more!

You look beautiful, but still modest. i just watched a channel of a couple of sisters that were brought up Amish, that have totally switched to looking like the world, trying to show their bodies. it saddened me to see that they totally switched. It breaks my heart. You are proof that a woman can look beautiful, have beautiful hair, dress gorgeous but decent and remain modest and on top of that stay modest but firm in your talk, be a great mother and wife. Enjoying your videos. I strted building log homes (scribe fit) in Kalispell in the mid 70s, then moved to Alaska, and had my own business up there till we hit an oil recession. My boys ran my Shield Bantam crane when they were young, too. I bought them a toy crane with most of the functions, which they learned quickly, then took them out where I was clearing my log yard in the winter, and they skidded logs with me running the tongs. Many wonderful memories. I was noticing the log wall behind you was very well worked. We're retired, now in North Idaho. Religious forms were very big in Jesus' time, also, and that took some doing (even for the Holy Spirit!) getting people to understand the heart of the Father and how it was supposed to me. I have read so many books on the Amish. I like learning of different nations and cultures and recipes. The Amish were brought up in a stricter home to be different and more mannerly.

So enjoyed your story. Though I am not Amish , I grew up in a little village in Switzerland with 8 siblings. I went to a village school for my first 6 years in one room with 8 different classes. We had to help and learned to work in the family business. Thank you for sharing.

I too grew up in Michigan and lived their until I was 19 years old and moved to California.In 1974 I joined a Spiritual Community in Santa Barbara that had several ranches, orchards, and farms.I would say the way we lived in brother/sisterhood was much like the Amish which I came to admire in many ways.I lived there for almost nine years.I learned to garden and grow food, milk a cow and goats, took care of 200 chickens, lived with outhouses, kerosene lamps,sewed on a treadle sewing machine, cook and bake on a wood burning stove,
spin, knit, etc.As well learned to run the the natural food stores in town.I left to go back to school and have a family but i have never regretted what I learned.We too sang with guitars and A Capella.

I’m 15 and work on a non Amish farm I live in south western PA so we have more Mennonites than Amish. So uhh how would I go about trying to become apart of a Amish or Mennonite community
That’s a good question! You would just have to go to a community, go to the church and see if you like it and go from there.

Hello I just started watching you on TH-cam I didn’t grow up Amish but we had the same child hood one the farm in Saskatchewan Canada 🇨🇦. went to a one room school we didn’t have indoor plumbing or electricity and had 2 horses dad would take us to school horse and sleigh in winter in those days the snow would be really deep our house had only 4 rooms there was 6 kids one brother the rest girls mom also washed clothes in a ringer wash machine with a motor to keep our dairy cold in summer dad would put the milk in a pail attached to a rope and lower in the well

We grew up in a very conservative church, not Amish, but I can relate to many of the ways and traditions. I appreciate your respect for your background as I do for mine even though I don't belong to that group now. Our home was just a few miles from the Sugarcreek, Ohio Amish community.

I just found your channel. Thank you for sharing your life with us - fascinating. Priscilla you brought back fond memories for me - my Maternal grandfather immigrated from Switzerland when he was about 13 years old. He spoke Switzerdeutch (I hope I spelled that correctly). He was a staunch and loving man. Funny thing though - he had an accent and when we got older and we asked our mom about it - she told us the story of his coming to America - but told us never to mention the accent to grandpa - he learned English by himself and was very proud of that and DID NOT think he had an accent.

I drive tour busses. I live in Ohio and go to the Amish areas there, Indiana and Pennsylvania. I love to go to the Amish Area and step back to a different pace in life. Wish I could stay awhile to get out of life's ratrace. So peaceful and relaxing.
I moved from Ohio to Michigan when I was 7.....We have lots of Amish around here.

It was an interesting story. I watched it when it originally aired and it was just as interesting the second time. It is your story but it educates your audience about your culture.
Just happened upon your video and my husband and I enjoyed hearing about your upbringing. We came to know Jesus Christ as our Savior & LORD after 12 years of marriage (42 yrs ago) growing up & being raised in a main line'religion'. Having a relationship with the LORD and knowing the price He paid for our redemption is a sharp contrast to man's rules of religion. We would love to hear your testimony's of faith. We grew up 2 hours from Lancaster, PA and visited the Amish/Mennonite communities many times. We stayed at an Old Order Amish homes and had good fellowship with the Bishop and his wife. We also were invited to visit with a young family who invited us to their home (met at a store) to encourage them. After coming to know Jesus their families shunned them. God allowed a good time of fellowship and encouragement with them. So many good memories.... 1 Corinthians 15:1-4

I just found your channel by chance and enjoyed it so much! I’ve subscribed and hope to go back and watch some previous episodes as I look forward to new ones. So very interesting! And even though my family isn’t Amish, I can relate . My grandpa farmed about 240 acres all by horse pulled equipment. He would take me to a local store, sometimes to sell eggs by horse and buggy. They had no plumbing, no phones, no electricity, and I loved going to their house everyday. I loved gathering the eggs, milking the cow, just playing in the barn and making our own fun. They truly lived a pioneer life style and I wouldn’t take anything for those memories. I’m sad my kids will never experience what I did. I think the simple Amish lifestyle is something most people could benefit from. I look so forward to watching more of your videos.

Years ago I lived somewhat near Lancaster Pennsylvania and would visit various Amish communities. Are those similar to how you grew up? You are a lovely couple and I would love to hear how your life started together.
This was the 2nd video that I watched. I am so happy I found your channel. I am learning so much from you. When I lived in Michigan many years ago, we would go to Shipshewana, IN to go to the Amish community and would go shopping there. My husband and I were so curious and desired to know more about the Amish. Their life seemed so beautiful with their large families, community commitment, etc. At that time we did not realize that they did not know Jesus. They were religious but …Your people are beautiful and have given you a beautiful heritage. Praise God that you now know Jesus and walk in his following.

Although I am not Amish , I did grow up about the same way. In the mountains, 4,000 ft. level. It was the family farm/ranch. One gravity flow faucet in the kitchen. Cold only. I mean ice cold. It was from a spring. We used the outhouse. Even built a two seater. 😊 Had many animals. Milked our cows. Washer was a wringer. A garden of course. And the push mower? I still prefer it over a regular lawn mower. Playing in the hay loft and fishing were good times. We went to the nearest big town once a month for sugar, flour and such. Cooked on a wood stove. I would not trade growing up this way for anything. Taught me much which I have used my entire life. By God's good grace I have passed these values to my son. And he will to his own.
