- Tornadoes that tore through Oklahoma have flattened buildings, killed at least four people, widespread power outages, and left a trail of destruction.

These were BRICK buildings that were leveled. Buildings that have been here for decades.

The Moore tornado stripped homes to ground level that was the worst I've seen in Oklahoma 😮😢
I'm from Moore and now live in sulphur. Yes. Moore was the most absolutely devastating tornado, but do not denigrate the one that hit sulphur. It completely wiped out our historic downtown. Many people are without jobs and I lost a friend with others pulled from the rubble

You call that a house? Made of cardboard, basically, particle boards, super light materials, no trusses on the roof which is also made of 2x4’s, a F-1 tornado can essentially destroy most cardboard houses in this country. Concrete and stone and real hardwood, AND steel trusses is the way to go.
So true. My husband designs homes and estimates steel for a company. We watch what I call stick houses go up
Everyone is talking about Sulphur. I understand it was the **hardest** hit, but it wasn't the ONLY place hit. I wish media would stop ignoring other places that might not be as populated when there are disasters like this. There were MANY other towns hit with the tornadoes last night (Sat. April 27).... please don't ignore them.
Builders largely to blame. They use these cheap light materials and charge homebuyers an arm and 2-legs for it, ridiculous. People in this country are sooooo gullible.
@g-radm3827 these buildings have been here for longer than I can remember. I grew up HERE, in sulphur. Not shoddy work. It was an effin tornado. That killed my friend btw.

Sulphur is a beautiful town.
Houses built with wood and card boards do not stand a chance. American houses are cheaply built and highly priced. Developers need to come up with a better plan to accommodate weather conditions. Weather changes and building materials need to survive the weather conditions.
