I had my physics paper today. It didn’t go well. I want to cover up for it in my next two papers. However my friends are telling me that paper 2 which I gave today has highest weighting factor which is 43%. My rest papers add up to 31% and 26%. How can I recover to at least get a B

I am confused. I appeared for Pakistan studies Cie exam in 2022 and I got an A but when I reviewed my component grades I had an A in both the components history and geography but my total grade for both the components is A not an A* . Why ????
They first mark & grade your indiviual paper and make a threshold for the individual components. This does not have an A*. Next they make the thresholds for you overall subject. This will be the grade you get. The marks you'll need for an A as final grade will the sum of the marks needed for an A in all the individual components. For example; I also gave Pakistan Studies in 2022. My grade in History ended up being an A and my grade in Geography ended up being a B, but my final grade on the marksheet was an A. I probably got a high A and a high B which ended up totalling to an A
@@MayishaDenise being honest to yourself is the very first step followed by practicing the pastpapers , there is no need to go through the book again and again instead practise pastpapers and know the markschemes so you have knowledge about how and what points are gonna get you the marks
I'm curious about how they calculate the final grade when you give two components in A levels. For example: This session (May June 2024), i gave Maths 9709 P12 & P52. Next year in the session, May June 2025, i will be giving Maths 9709 P32 & P42. I understand how they'll apply theshold to my P12 & P52 components, but how will it work for the components P32 & P42 ?
As marks are carried forward. They keep your AS marks from before then add it to your new A2 marks and the sum is your final A level mark which they then convert into a grade the same way he mentioned in the video.
@@jinx3241 they use the threshold for that series. So if you did AS in 2022 and your marks were 100/125 and you did A2 in 2023 and your marks were 100/125 aswell then your total marks for A levels will be 200/250. They will carry Forward your marks from AS and give you a final grade.
Let's say if the threshold for an A* is on 195/260 ( after weightage being applied) and if the candidate gets like 190 or 193. So does Cambridge provide any range for uncertainty for grade allocation. In short will the person be given a A* or an A.
Let's say if I have a component e.g: 9701 Component 33 that has a raw mark below the minimum required (for A for instance), will I get a B overall grade or there is a slim chance I can get an A (or A*)? Thank you!
Typically this happens with assessed marks, where Cambridge will only give you a symbol and not the PUM. Make sure to contact your exams officer to get further clarification.

Hey bro, I have a question. I was 15 minutes late for the exam, so my invigilator gave me an extra 15 minutes at the end of the exam. However, the invigilator didn't give me the form that needs to be filled out and attached to the exam paper, which mentions the details of taking extra time and the reason for it. Is that a problem?
Whoever is in charge of exams at your school gets access to these files containing your mark breakdowns and is supposed to give them to the respective teachers. So your teachers should have this information. I'm not sure what happens for private students but I'm sure you should be able to contact the exam centre where you took your exams for assistance.
Percentage Uniform Mark. It's the mark you see on your certificate. So if your look at the video thumbnail, the 96, 91, 94 represent the PUM for the respective subject.

Firstly if you do 12 and 52 in AS(first year of A levels) it's impossible to do 32 and 42 for A2(The last year of A levels). You will have to do paper 32 and paper 62 for A2. Now your AS grade will be based on 12 and 52. So if you did it in 2023 May June you will have to use the 12 and 52 combination threshold for that series as your final grade. Now let's say you did A2 in November 2023. Listen carefully this part is Important. So there going to calculate your total marks for A2 for papers 32 and 62. They will then add it to the number of marks you got in June 2023 for AS. Now for the 2023 November threshold they will put up a threshold for the option of taking 12,52,32,62 and wherever your marks lie in the threshold will be your final grade for the overall, A level. Basically your AS marks will be carried forward. Also if you someone did AS in November 2022 and A2 in November 2023 and they took the same components and variant as you they will have a separate threshold (I think).

Hey can I ask you a question I did pure math 1 and mechanics , I did really good in pure math but not in mechanics, let’s say my final grade in math AS is A 80( PUM) . The only way I could get an A* next year is if I get a PUM of 100 in A level , so then 100 + 80 / 2 = 90 which is an A* Is it like this ??
💀😭. No bro. Let's say you got 80/81 pum for AS. For A2 let's say the threshold for an A is at 100 (for pure maths 3 and statistics 1). So if you get 115 in your A2 Papers you would definitely be able to turn that A(80pum) into an A*(90 pum) though it's going to be a low A* so nothing crazy. Good luck and I messed up pure maths(expecting like 54) and mechanics was really good for me (expecting 37 cause I checked my paper afterwards). You might think 37 is bad but the paper was hard so the threshold is going to be low like 32-34/50 for an A.

Also I am pretty sure that's how it works and Smyl maths will respond to you soon so he can probably confirm it. Also an A is a good grade, you don't need to resist if you get an A. But if you really need the A* for like uni or it could increase your scholarship in Uni then yes resit.
@@3nokitake Nah everyone found it difficult. There expecting the threshold for an A to be at like 45-46 so you have like 10 marks above that. So even if you lost like 2-3 more marks cause of silly mistakes you will still get an A. The majority of people said that 32 June 2024 was way harder then 12 June 2023. And on 12 the threshold for an A was only at 49. You don't need to worry at all lol, it's us that have to 😭😭 (I want to either retake pure 1 or hopefully they will cancel the paper).
But what if the maximum mark after weighting form the IGCSE doesn't match our paper's total marks available. For example, in the 0625 physics syllabus, the total marks are 40, 80, and 40 for P2, P4, and P6 respectively which adds up to 160. But the maximum marks after weighting are written as 200. How does that make sense?
In the same way that they multiply your raw marks by the weighting factor, they multiply the total marks by the weighting factor. So that when threshold is then applied your syllabus total is being compared to the maximum mark after weighting.

Have Cambridge stopped giving PUM, as I didn’t get a PUM in my results…?
I'm not sure. Quite a few people didn't get their PUM, it could be because of assessed marks but I'm not too sure.

the thing is weightage for p33 is less than p1 hence forth you can say that its out of 30 for p3

We give paper 180 marks but the threshold comes from 200 so we get 20 percent for our total grade
