Hola hola Tío Paul First of all Happy New Year/Feliz año nuevo Good to see you back It's been a while and YT hasn't send me notifications for a while so I had to look for you but I'm glad to find you again Hope you have a great year ahead of you and looking forward to watch more videos of you and even maybe meet you in person, I'll buy you lunch 👍 (though that will have to happen in Mexico City) Un gran abrazo in the distance 🇨🇦 Feliz año nuevo 2023!
Hello tio Paul it's me again Little late but happy new year It's been a while since your last video, wish and hope you're doing well Hopefully we will watch new videos from you again and wherever you're, you're safe Take good care all the best
Thank you for the history about Cancun blooming, Paul😀unbelievable that still in beginning of 90's Acapulco was the sunshine beach, and soon Cancun became the most famous beach destiny, absolutely beautiful, sadly I haven't been there I hope to spend a holiday soon there because it's a must visit specially the non tourism natural areas, thumbs up, hasta luego 🙏🏻😊
Tio Paul, I am not sure if you are continuing with your YT channel. I want you to know whatever your decision... I have enjoyed your channel should you choose to continue with it or not. Viva Mexico!
Paul you are the absolute BEST! Keep it up my friend. I love that you truly understand what Mexico is, its faults and its wonders, and don’t try to put on a character for anyone. I love your honesty and that you wish for a better Mexico. Not because you feel entitled to it but because you adore the country and want the best for it and its people.
I love Cancun & the Riviera Maya overall. Places become "touristy" because they're awesome. From Cancun to Akamal to Cozumel to Isla Mujeres, just wonderful (sargasso notwithstanding).
@@TrueMexico I've traveled all around that area and it's truly one of my favorite areas of the world. I live in coastal south Texas so I can get the recado rojo to make cochinita pibil or snapper or redfish cooked in the same marinade. That area is also fascinating with its mix of different world influences in its population and cuisine. It's the only place outside of Europe where I've seen whole Edam cheeses for sale and what they do with the cheese there is divine. And don't get me started on sopa de lima. This is making me hungry!!
¡Paul amigo! It's been so long since I've seen one of your videos, I'm so happy you still upload stuff in your channel, cheers mate keep the videos coming and saludos desde Tamaulipas.
Cool bits of history. The Bank of Mexico in Centro also has a pretty a cool new museum. They renovated the first two floors and opened as a museum in 2021. You can go right into the vault with the vault door and all.
I been to most beach destination in Mexico and i have to say that cancun is the worst place for Mexican nationals to go, to clarify what I'm talking about is the locals seem to treat foreigners better than their own country men, i recommend for Mexican nationals (tourists as well) 1.Any playa de nayarit from vallarta to sayulita the people are nice and seem to like anyone that goes but prices differ from town to town. 2. Acapulco is cool and over the years it became more for people from D.F to go for a cheaper price tag than cancun. 3.mazatlan the locals were awesome but with the negative views on sinaloa there's little tourist's going but the funniest thing is most foreigners live there usually from canada, france and the coolest bar owner who was from Holland. 4.cabos san lucas all i say is cacun with better locals and for some reason i always get hit with a tropical storm when I'm there.
Great video Paul, I've only ever had layovers in Cancun. But just flying in there I could see from the plane it's a beautiful place. I did also get severely ripped off at the Cancun airport which was the only time this happened while in Mexico. So I prefer Puerto Vallarta and Sayulita. 😁
This was educational for me! I didn't know about the inequality and just assumed Cancun had always been there, which thinking on it makes no sense. You have to start somewhere. I did know it gets crazy during spring break though. I enjoyed the video and I'm wondering if you've ever been to Acapulco and how does it compare? Thanks!
Hola amigo! I'm happy you enjoyed the video and thanks so much for supporting this channel so much. Acapulco... I've never made a video there as you know... but I go there once or twice every year! It's actually one of my favourite spots in Mexico. Yes, we see all the negative headlines, but I've never had any issues there. Nothing beats the Acapulco sunset! Compared to Cancun it's more like true Mexico on the beach! Cancun is not like that of course. Acapulco also has a long history. It was a Mexican jewel (the Clintons went on honeymoon there). But things changed with the insecurity issues. The area around the airport to the east is growing fast with many resorts and condos. Many international events take place there like the ATP tennis (Rafa Nadal etc). In a few years, its my bet that people from the US will discover the fast developing area around the airport. Saludos desde CDMX!
@@TrueMexico I hope I can visit Acapulco before it becomes too developed. I'm sure both places are beautiful to visit though! I'm glad you got to visit Acapulco. My mother keeps talking about visiting family in Mexico again so it may be in my near future. Who knows?
My dad went five years ago and purchased some of that super expensive Evian brand water in the airport. He told me it had an odd taste! Mi papá fue hace cinco años y compro de esa agua marca Evian carísima en el aeropuerto. ¡Me dijo que tenía un sabor raro!
Great video. Went my first time in 1992 senior trip Was awesome and so beautiful. and Would go every year But noticed how Americanized it was becoming and real expensive. 2001 was the last time I was their would not go back. Cabo san Lucas is another spot that was ruined and Americanizes Lost its charm to the old mighty Dollar.
Too many tourists in Cancún for my liking ,lol, when I visit México next year, I want to spend time with the natives, not americans lol Merry Christmas Tio Paul

Cancun has a lot of tourism, but many hundreds or thousands of illegal immigrants have also arrived from Central America, South America, Cuba, Haiti, and even Africans and Russians, all illegal, with no legal status to stay here, and they are people who do not work, live in very poor places and areas called: "regions", very marginalized areas such as: Otoch villas, on the periphery of the urban area, and nobody cares about removing them or deporting them to their countries of origin.

Yeah the other airports are usually ok. Cancun airport is a shocker !
Was Cancun hotel zone always a barrier island or was it made into an island?
It was always and still is a barrier island I believe. The bridges means it’s accessible.
Las Vegas has the same story so as Dubai
Very interesting and informative. I also love Cancun and stay downtown as opposed to the hotel zone, it's just too commercial for me - Anne

Are you going to Tulum?
You still alive paul?
I was there two weeks ago. It’s BS that you have to go to the end of the hotel zone to get access to the beach through dolphin beach
They do a lot of BS things in Cancun. Pretty much none of the crossings for pedestrians (pressing the button) work on the main hotel zone road.
