We recently re-watched this on a movie night with some people who've never seen it before, and right before the car falls apart after the last chase, one of them said "That is one great car" and it made me realize... It wasn't the car. They survived unscathed through so much that should have killed them with no more than dirt on their suits, the car handled impossibly well, even after it threw a rod... it got them to their destination before succumbing to all of the damage, every step they took put them at their goal right before any consequence befell them. They had DIVINE PROVIDENCE, God was with them... because they WERE on a mission from God. Technically the film is a religious epic.
Ghostbusters reference. During production, Dan Ackroyd referred to Slimer as the ghost of John Belushi cause of the way he was eating food off the cart in the hotel based on Belushi’s character in Animal House. 1:21
One of my favoriite gags in the movie was right after the rocket launcher attack. As they walk up the stairs into the hotel they keep sweeping more and more bricks and debris off of their shoulders. Also in both bomb attacks their suits are magically clean in seconds.
Carrie's role here far surpasses Star Wars. She's a real down-to-earth woman! We know she will RIP. May her life be remembered for her personal virtues.
It's a transient hotel for men, basically a long term homeless shelter flying under the radar of zoning regulators and NIMBY protesters. They fill a vital role, but not exactly the place where a random act of violence would be out of place.
Holmes Huddle They were on a mission from God.. That’s why nothing happened to them, why they didn’t get caught until the taxes were paid, and why the Bluesmobile didn’t fall apart until it had already got them where they needed to go, and did backflips and all that. That and in a deleted scene they parked it next to a giant power transformer, which supposedly “charged” it up.
This was a 1980s Epic involving two brothers doing the Lord’s work, not a sci-fi epic like Tron. CGI back then was not as polished and realistic as it is now. For this film, they used every avaliable trick to make this film work, with no computers involved in any moment, because it was a different time, and wasn’t required for this film. This film’s effects were practical, because there only CGI used was limited back in the 80s, and good only for sci-fi.
She can pop 2 or 3 stormtroopers in the detention cells of the Death Star, but can't perforate two thieves in a sewer with an AR-15. R.I.P. Carrie.....
Since Fisher was known in this film as "The Mystery Woman", I've always just called her "Carrie". Even so, her role in this, does not top her most famous role as "Princess Leia". Boy, do we all miss the Leader of the Resistance, herself.
How they're not even phased they act like it happens all the time and it's no big deal when they said they're on a mission from God they meant it strongly this was God's way of saying he was on their side no matter what these two were about to get themselves into.❤😂
I never managed it to count how many police cars get crashed in that movie! XD All the changes of perspective and such always make confuse me so much that i loose count. EDIT: 9:05 Just fill with concrete any done. XD
If the force was with carrie fisher in the star wars saga then I would certainly say in this movie "may the FOOLS be with you!" She had ONE job and couldn't even do it right Actually that also explains how the heck hitler was always immune to assassinations roflcopter

Main reason they was never hurt, they was protected by god ❤😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤
A modern Religious Epic
A modern religious epic MUSICAL
Yep .
My dad always loved this film. Every time I watch this movie it always makes me feel like he's still with me. And I love this movie
Mine too, we used to watch it at least 10 times every year ever since he got a dvd of it
I absolutely love their lack of reaction to almost dying.
Because of the mission!
they're gen z
Yeah, they call that horrible acting!
They're probably use to it
It's almost 9. We gotta go to work. Elwood Blues-
Just realized that Elwood said “who you gunna call?” Lol
Maybe Dan came up with the slogan. 😎
Bill murray role was for belushi, dan wrote ghostbusters during the lasts days of belushi
One of the best written films... ever.
You can’t kill people who are on a mission from Gad
*God.*
@@SouthernHerdsman *Gahd.
Yeah a mission from God saving children from the IRS.
so true
@@pinkydogbear Thanks on the comment.
2:23 The way Elwood and the cops caved in while Jake was in the bed sleep LMAO!!!
I don't think he did ever go to work
That scene had me in near tears haha what memories watching this with my dad
RIP Carrie Fisher and John Belushi!
you forgot john candy
These guys aren't just the definition of "plot armor," they invented plot armor
They're on a mission from God.
@@unshanksMakes sense. God won’t let them die until they complete the mission.
I see that Carrie Fisher had stormtrooper aim
Matilda Muller 😂
This or she learned to aim when "hitting" wasnt a thing. XD
Well she did play princess leia
@@mebanaanyes That was a main point of the joke
@@Tildybean42 luarfv
I love how they are completely unbothered by all of it...
This has been one of my favorites since I first saw it in '82, shortly after cable TV came to Texas....
4 years later in Ghostbusters Dan aykroyd figured who he is going to call
When you just chillin but your ex-girlfiriend pulls out the quad-shot rocket launcher
Ghostbusters reference. During production, Dan Ackroyd referred to Slimer as the ghost of John Belushi cause of the way he was eating food off the cart in the hotel based on Belushi’s character in Animal House. 1:21
One of the best movies ever made!
Blues Brothers will never be forgotten
the acting through the sunglasses..... love it
The police cars drive exactly like they do on GTA.
Mission: arrest criminal
Report: 28 police officers KIA. 3 police officers MIA. 127 Civilians injured. 65 civilians KIA. 1,200$ raised in property damage. 35,000$ on vehicle's and ammunition. 490,000$ medical fees.
it the other way round blues brothers was inspiration.

Wow
I agree, 100%
R.I.P. Carrie Fisher & John Belushi!
No one is allowed to kill the blues brothers they’re on a mission for god
I never really Noticed before, but no one reacts to the front of the building being hit with rockets
It's normal in USA
It's a transient hotel for men, basically a long term homeless shelter flying under the radar of zoning regulators and NIMBY protesters. They fill a vital role, but not exactly the place where a random act of violence would be out of place.
@@johnjones_1501 random acts of violence are usually yelling and punching in the lobby, not destroying the entrance with explosives
Meh, it's Chicago. An everyday thing.
@@Raooka i think at some point Elwood says something along the lines of "It's a rough neighborhood".
This is the wackiest film I’ve ever seen and I LOVE IT. Especially where the Blues Mobile does a backflip
The part where the telephone booth started flying reminded me of Bill and Ted in a way.
I swear these guys have 9 lives lol . Thanks for the video.
9 more like 99 ! :-)

Orange whip? Orange whip? Three Orange whips!
It's almost 9 o'clock, we've gotta go to work.
The hotplate and white bread survived the blast! LOL!
The sound effects are amuzing, plus no CGI
CGI? That wasn't a thing in the 80s

My favorite part was always when the army guys have to say “hut hut hut!” As they run in.
I love that 0:02 with Carrie Fisher cigarette bazooka scene in a Pontiac Grand Prix. Unforgettable!
Carey Fisher shoots like a storm trooper
Carrie*
Best movie ever made!👍
the sequence at 8:20 is my favorite in all of cinema
I’ve always loved you lmaoooo
Man this movie is fucking great.
Haters will say this is fake
The Illinois Nazi car was actually dropped from a helicopter. The fall is partly true.
Mine too :-)
Flip flop fly, don't ever leave me don't ever say goodbye.
I still miss Carrie Fisher.
This is my favorite Carrie Fisher role.
She can pop 2 or 3 stormtroopers in the detention cells of the Death Star, but can't perforate two thieves in a sewer with an AR-15.
R.I.P. Carrie.....
Of course she can’t kill them…
They’re on a mission from God.
Anything better than the sound of those four-barrel secondaries kicking in?
Nope. Haha. I keep rewinding to hear that 440 roar.
The Carter AFB Thermoquad .They definitely let you know things are about to get real
1:20 GHOSTBUSTERS!
5 years too early.
Amazing Pathway maybe it was supposed to be Jakes ghost 🤯🤯 lol
Amazing that 30 round magazine holds 100 bullets. It didn’t even sound like an M16 either! AMAZING!
2:42 The amount of chad energy displayed here is beautifully blinding.
Wonderful Actually there aren´t good comedys like this
My favorite movie ever
This film is way ahead of its time. All real effects. This film today would cost 2 billion to do with real effects no CGI
The booking agent they were calling is amazing. One of the gigs was Tik Tok and it didn't even exist in 1980.
TikTok is also the sound that mechanical analog clocks and watches made. The name has been around since the invention of clocks.
3:46 I believe that explosion woke them up
The Chicago chase is where Cruisin USA got the idea.
8:24 a backflip dodge
This was awesome!!
That John Candy had a powerful kick 👌.
YOU GOT MY CHEEZE WHIZ BOY!
I reconized the Milwaukee scenes
I love that 5 shots came out of that four shot launcher
I never noticed the 'Battlestar Galactica' sound-effects before...
Anybody remember the name of the beauty parlor that Carrie Fisher works at in the Blues Brothers? “Curl Up and Dye”.
Since Fisher was known in this film as "The Mystery Woman", I've always just called her "Carrie". Even so, her role in this, does not top her most famous role as "Princess Leia". Boy, do we all miss the Leader of the Resistance, herself.
Tonight definitely signifies the formal changing of the guard for me. One system to the other. No doubt at all.
5:10 look at the state of them
"Use of unnecessary violence in apprehension of the Blues Brothers has been approved”.
1:46 Magic
6:33 Move! Move!
It’s good to see you sweetheart
4 tubes, 5 shots, 11/10 !
Princess Lela joined the dark force RIP ms fisher may the force be with you 😇

Carrie Fischer was so great in this film
At blues brothers 2000 She did succed...

1:30 he said tic tok... lol.
These cool cats are overdrawn in their 9 lives.
Is it just me, or did she fire 5 rockets even though the launcher only had 4 tubes?
This is the level of payback that most women only WISHED they could get to....Carrie is RUTHLESS!
If they didn’t have the police surplus Dodge Charger, the pair probably wouldn’t have gotten out of half of those situations.
Hence, the reason why Elwood was obsessed with driving an ex police car in both movies, to be on a par performance wise with the police.
That is NOT a charger. That is a 1974 Dodge Diplomat. What a POS
Steven Baker No, it’s a Monaco. Diplomats were a midsize rust prone turd .
@@justinstearns9723 sorry you would be correct. But the Monaco was a turd too. But still not a charger. I misstated what it was.
Jake and Elwood have more lives than a cat.
