TIG WELDING STAINLESS STEEL - How to tig a WEAVE WELD!

  • Welcome to part two of this series, this one's gonna cover TIG WELDING STAINLESS STEEL, and how to Tig a Weave Weld!
    For part one of the series, check here:
    We went over Tig Welding aluminum weave welds in this one, and I had such a blast I wanted to go back and redo it but with tig welding stainless steel. In my opinion, this one is WAY more difficult. We have more variables to control in this one, and I break down how I go about doing this one.
    I say it a million times in this episode, but this is just the way I DO IT. There are many ways to do this pass, as far as style and techniques can go, so this is just my preferred method of doing it. That's all. Hope you give it a go, and have fun!

    The best part about this video is the review of the weld and what went right and what went wrong and why. Thanks for the great info.

      @@PacificArcTigWelding I actually was pleased to see the travel time. The BIG PROBLEM with most other channels is that they always x2 or x4 or x8 the speed of the welding, and for us noobs who are trying to get a feel for it, it is super misleading and confusing.

    Another great tutorial. All relevant information clearly stated. I was wondering if sometime In the future you could demonstrate a wide weave tapering from 4-5 dabs down to 1? This all ties into your art pieces so well. The sound and camera work just keeps getting better and better.

      Hey Michael! That’s a good idea! I kind of did it with an aluminum exercise I did a month or so ago, you can check it here:)

      But I definitely could do the same exercise with stainless... thanks for the idea!

    As stated before...brand newbie here but I've very curious about what I'd call your "C" weave pattern instead of what I might call an "S" pattern. You responded to a comment below about laying down better after its preheated, BUT...often you comment about the metal being HOT and having to adjust your pedal to accommodate it. Wouldn't "preheating" contribute to the additional heat? I realize this is YOUR method and others can do their own thing....I'm certainly in no position to make any soft of negative comments...just thinking out loud. You piece of your friends artwork was mesmerizing!!!

    • @PacificArcTigWelding
      @PacificArcTigWelding  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes Scott you’re right! Although my trick is to add enough filler rod, that it keep the weld a tad cooler. Heat will ‘sit’ the weld down to wed properly to the base, but the filler will help to keep things from barrelling out of control a bit:)

  • @larrymoore5394
    @larrymoore5394 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Thanks Dusty. When you drop down and go right to left without filler ,is that to preheat the metal?

    • @PacificArcTigWelding
      @PacificArcTigWelding  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yeah. I tend to find that first dab sits down just right when I warm it up a tiny bit:)
