Just saw this and I agree, I liked his version best, not that the others aren't stellar players, especially Tony, just something about Hiroyasu"s smoothness, simplicity and great tone on that Gibson!
The guy with the gibson sounds smoother and more like Clarence than the rest and the guitar (is it just a standard fairly modern J45) sounds really good (better than the Preston Thompson of Ms Tuttle even though she is awesome ) I know the recording makes a huge difference but the first sounds best to me, just an amateur who loves Clarence.
Amazing collection, took a dedicated , knowledgeable fan to gather this incredible collection,, many thanks !! All the Best !
Thanks
Damn that Gibson sounds good at the beginning! 😎👍🏻. I’m a Martin guy at heart but that Gibson guy was playing had it going on!
Hiroyasu Ohno plays nice and smooth

Clarence had it in the box👍
As usual Toon, Clarence is the greatest!!!!!! Many Thanks!!!
Fantastic video, thank you Mr. Toon! I enjoyed this so much!!
Long live CLARENCE!!!
Outstanding collection! Thank you for putting it together. There must be some footage somewhere of Doc playing it, too.
I search for it, but Doc plays a fingerpicking style.
My recollection was him flatpicking it but I just clicked around a bit and seems you are correct - he played it fingerpicking.
takes me back 50 years . a man named Al Hunt. I was mesmerized . He got e crazy about guitar.
Clarence LeBlanc 💪 👍
Great video....! Very important song by a bedrock player. How could you not drag the time after hearing him?
Drag the time?
I think he’s referring to the sycopation Clarence used.
Out and about with the Martin D-18 . . Murray Cullen
Thank you ! A most enjoyable and instructive video.
Thanks

I guess our hillbilly music has reached a lot of people!!
Just look at Clarence at the end there, copying all these other guys that went first! Lol right there’s where it started!
Didn't Merle Travis write "I am a pilgrim"?
Its a Traditional, first recording in July 1924 by Norfolk Jubilee Quartet
Yes, but he didn't flat pick it. So did Moon Mullins here on the tube. But it is a whole different thing.
