This method of fixing bows is ancient and was also used on English key wound and set watches. It is the most secure method of securing the bow to the pendant, but it can't be used with keyless watches because the winding stem goes down the middle of the pendant and needs freedom to turn.

On my watch the bow is very loose. Should the screw be tightened up? It's an 1825 sterling silver English case.
