Pretty common on c5/6/7’s for the fluid to get nasty quickly and foul up the throw out bearing. Replace the clutch fluid, pull back the pedal, press it down 50 times, the replace fluid again. Repeat until the fluid stops turning brown/black after the 50 pumps. This is the “ranger method” and is standard maintenance for these cars. 80% odds you can fix it with one bottle of DOT4.
Literally just did this yesterday. Fluid was BLACK, new one was a very light minty yellow. Shifter felt a bit crispier too but might've been placebo. Super cheap to do it yourself. Dealer was gonna charge me $300 for an effectively $10 job.
Every C6 owner knows you have to bleed the clutch. Google Ranger clutch bleed method. Every C6 needs to have this done. Its easy. You basically suck out the clutch fluid with a turkey baster from under the hood where you fill it, then fill it up with new fluid. Then start it and work the clutch in and out and redo. over and over and over and over. Like once every 6 months you need to do this.
The Vette, like many other manuals has a hydraulic clutch as many have stated. I had a 1998 Ford Falcon XR6 6cyl with manual. One night I hit the clutch, something broke and the pedal hit the floor, but it didn't pop back like Mike did with the Vette. Turns out it was a clutch clevis - a part that held the pedal end of the clutch cable (mechanical clutch). So a part worth a $5-$10, brought the car to a halt. I got it replaced and carried a spare.
While many are probably sad about the ZR1, I actually really like that you've done this. As you said, the car has a great legacy. But, I just really like the stock sound. Today was really cold. I went to the Ambler Cars and Coffee and froze. We took my son's ZL1 1LE and really had a good time. It was my first time seeing a GT4 RS in person. Very cool! Think spring!

The C7 ZR1 is an epic sports car for sure. But there's signs of another on the horizon in the new C8 ZR1. Since the older C7 Z is now back to stock, it should hold a ton more value as a solid trade in for the new C8 Z. Will be sad to see it go either way.
