My son has Tourettes. The school wanted him on meds, in special classes, etc. We did neither. He is grown now, was the first in the family to attend college, holds a degree and has a great job that he loves.. Hope this comment is helpful to anyone with Tourettes. As someone with Tourette’s, I wanted to thank you for raising awareness about this disability. I don’t quite understand how Tourette’s works even though I got diagnosed when I was 19, and have had tics since 10 (edited because my brain wasn’t working 😂). I haven’t really looked into I’ve just sort of learned live with it. I get it really bad when I get anxiety attacks. Even with my meds I still have mild tics but still, I’ve learned to live with it. Quick question. When you have Tourettes, does it just effect one body part movement, or can it move your whole body, or both? Can it cause you to hurt yourself? Example: make you pinch yourself, or make you slap yourself.
it depends on the person and the severity of the condition. some people might have tics that can hurt themselves, but luckily there is medication you can take for it.
i was diagnosed with tourettes in 2019, and oh man at school i have been mocked, cursed out, and yelled at for my tics. i also have the co conditions like bi-polar, adhd, and ocd. it’s been a struggle but I have tons of support. ive been wanting a video about tics so we could feel understood. thanks dhar

My mum also told me about a woman who used to drive past her work and she had it too. She would swear a lot outside her work she told me. It’s so sad that some of these people have no control over what they do

As someone who has tics, I can say I am very happy that Dhar is spreading awareness. ❤️ I’ve had this since I was 5 and I’m 15 now. It’s a mild case but I can definitely say it was much worse when I was younger.
Edit: omg you guys are so nice! ❤️ Thank you. I can definitely say the worst of my tics right now would be this throat clearing tic because it sounds like I’m coughing and then people think I have covid. It’s just a mess. But I get by. 🥰
