@@joserafaelgarciamorales8724 An aircraft will produce thrust by pulling air into the props, or by pushing high-velocity air out of jet turbine engines. They make use of fixed wings to generate high and low-pressure regions once the craft has enough forward velocity, the high pressure under the wings will push the wings up into the low pressure above it Helicopters ignore all of that by moving the wings ( the blades) at such a high rate of velocity that they essentially act as a fan. Changing the angle of attack in a particular direction will cause the lift to shift in such a way that the helicopter will move in that direction. @11:36 It says on the plaque that it is an RM5A jet engine built by Trollhättan/Volvo flygmotor on a license from Rolls Royce ltd. RR designated them Rolls-Royce Avon. In Sweden the engine was used on the Saab A32 Lansen fighter jet. I think Trollhättan flygmotor later became Volvo Aero which now is part of GKN Aerospace. Trollhättan is of course a small city in Western Sweden. Saab cars were made in Trollhättan.
Ah you beat me to it! Noticed the Trollhättan text immediately. Been up close to the A32 many times now. Thats another story though. Interesting to see a RM5 at this place. Wonder how it ended there...

Thank you so much, Stig for everything you bring to us AV Geeks. I’ve learned so much, enjoy your co tent, and jumped when you yelled BOO! LOL. Just for that, here’s another ghost story. Year & a half ago, a long time, dear friend & brother firefighter passed away unexpectedly. He had half a century of firefighting experience and, like you, happily passed on his knowledge to other generations. He liked to prank and trick his friends and he’d get me every time. Jim had been gone a few weeks when this happened. We get popcorn kernels in a jar and pop em in the microwave. I watched Bruce set the popcorn jar on the counter as he got out the popper. We turned to get the popcorn jar and it was gone! Doubting that we even got it out, we went through the kitchen opening every cabinet door. Looked in the pantry - nothing. Looked through the cabinets again, turned to look at the counter….and there it was. I looked up and said; “STOP IT, JIM!” Speaking of pranks - ask Kevin sometime about a prank I pulled on someone at LAX. You will LOL! Thank you, take care and be safe.
Oh, hey, there's something I can help with, thanks to my chemistry background! I looked up the SDS for RXSOL 27, and found that there are four active ingredients: The first two are types of alcohols that will remain stable at the high temperatures and pressures of the inside of a turbine. So you'll get the cleaning action of rubbing alcohol, but it'll actually survive long enough to do it. Their molecular chains are long enough that they also won't be able to interact much with the metals inside the turbine. Unlike how rubbing alcohol and methanol (tiny chains) can damage titanium or aluminum at high temperatures and pressures. One of them has such a long chain that it even acts as a minor lubricant. The other two are special detergents that, when combined, not only act as a cleaning solution, but they form an anti-corrosion coating for both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. They have an oily feel, and are brownish-yellow. So that's probably what got on your fingers! All ingredients are readily biodegradable, so dumping a few gallons out the back of a turbine won't be terrible for the environment, but you shouldn't drink it!

Hey Stig 😊 Beautiful misty sunrise photos!! So nice to once again hear your never-ending enthusiasm for aviation and life!! I love your videos - your detailed explanations with great storytelling!!
Good day Stig I hope you are enjoying your time off. I am a huge aviation fan and really like watching your adventures. I love how you explain stuff. I know you cant tell all but you keep it interesting. My addiction to aviation started in San Diego, CA Lindberg Field. Back in the day you could watch the planes take off and land in the parking lot behind the approach / take off. You could get so close the planes. If I had to do it all over again being an aircraft mechanic would be high on the list. Stig, I frequent the March Field air museum and you can get really up and close to these aircraft on display. There is a KC-10 tanker there now, very happy to see this happen. I was wondering if you could do a segment or explain on how the main landing gear attaches to the wing spar. I look at and can get just as close as you do at work, but can't see how it attaches. Also the top of the main gear goes right to the top of the inner wing box. How does this little space support such a heavy weight and landing abuse. Thank you Ryan
I will definitely do my best to show the main landing gear and try to explain that in future videos Ryan. My apologies on a late response I’m trying to catch up with the comments

10:15 I can definitely say that I’ve driven plenty of these shitty humvees in my 6 years in the military, and they are not comfortable at all. My last time in one, the terrain had been eaten up by the rain so there was hella bumpy roads on our make shift base out on the field. When we were the only ones left on the field, we’d take that humvee and speed through the bumps 😂 it had us straight up flying in our seats. We all hit our heads on the top of it. A helmet was always worn cuz there is literally nothing keeping you safe in one. Good times!

Good night and sleep well. Watch when you have time
The director of airport operations for St. Louis Lambert International Airport recently came and spoke to students at my university, definitely loads of interesting stuff in airport ops like you said!
That’s very good, I’m glad they are taking time and effort to educate the people for opportunities within the Aviation
@@StigAviationmaybe we can have you come out lol!
Let’s freaking goooooo, another Stig adventure, Fridays just keep getting better
Let’s Go 🤙🤙🤙
I love the way the youtube subtitles always say [Music] when it's nothing but engine sound. Probably the most accurate thing youtube does!!! 🤣🤣
Most definitely accurate. Because it is music 🎶
It truly truly is!!
Fresh vids make me happy :D Thanks stig! Looking at getting into aircraft maintenance as a former automotive mechanic, look like so much fun! (Post military so I think the stress is right up my alley)
I’m glad you enjoyed it. My apologies on the late response
Hey Stig 😊 Beautiful misty sunrise photos!! So nice to once again hear your never-ending enthusiasm for aviation and life!!
I love your videos - your detailed explanations with great storytelling!!
Thank you so much for the kind words. I appreciate you
@ You’re welcome man - you earnt it 🏆🏆
Thankyou for making these videos they’re becoming part of my nightly routine 😝
Thank you so much for being here Casey
I think a "Pilot States" would be a funny little recurring segment of the videos
I think I’m gonna implement that into my videos now 😆
30:30 Loveley MD11. Thanks for catching this!
My pleasure. That thing takes off like a rocket
@@StigAviation Yeah. If it is (almost) empty it could reach climb rates above 7000fpm! :D
Long time...been crazy busy...another great video...flying from BOS-LAS Christmas 🎄 week. From your P&W Friend.
Glad you enjoyed it, I hope you have a safe and fun flight!
@@StigAviation flying on the A321 Neo
Good day Stig
I hope you are enjoying your time off.
Thank you
Ryan
I will definitely do my best to show the main landing gear and try to explain that in future videos Ryan. My apologies on a late response I’m trying to catch up with the comments
@@StigAviation
Awesome Stig, Thank you. 777 300 would be fine. Also, you have probably already mentioned this but how aircraft do you service in one typical shift?
Thank you,
Ryan Tyro
@@ryanthggygh7716 you have to watch my videos for that. You’ll see what I do on a daily basis
My Dad flew the T-33 in the Air Force back in the 50's, along with the T-28, T-34, and B-47. He liked the T-28 the best, mostly because of its superior acrobatic and handling characteristics compared to the others mentioned. Cool video, love the Helis.
That’s absolutely incredible. I bet he’s got some great stories about his adventures
@StigAviation I could go on for hours about his stories. Some were life or death, running out of fuel on final, diversion air fields with the runway lights off, B47 bathroom was a 5 gal bucket, etc....LoL. Have a great day! Love your videos.
From the Son of a late former RAF and British Airways Engineer Manchester UK keep up the good work Excellent videos.
Many thanks sir.
@@StigAviation No problem keep the videos coming.
Thanks for this. Compton, who knew? Love history. I know I’m getting old when 100 years ago doesn’t seem like such a stretch. ;).
It does go by fast, doesn't it?
Once again, I love your background music. It creates the perfect vibe. I’m guilty of falling asleep to it numerous times.
Great video as always, my friend.
Thanks, glad you enjoy the music. 🎧
Oh boy, time to enjoy another weekly dose of aviation. Stig treating us good this week.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! I hope you find it informative.
Your dedication almost makes me want to try and get somewhere on time flying American! Love your dedication and love for your craft
Thank you for the kind words! And I do apologize on some of the delays, I do hate when that happens. Sometimes I take very personal responsibility for it but most times it’s just out of my hands. Thank you so much for being here and watching
Fantastic content Stig!
Very enjoyable.
Many thanks!
Yay!!!! Driving home and what comes on?! Stigs video! What better to listen to while driving home?! Love it!!
Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
@ it’s always an adventure listening to the videos. I always catch something I didn’t before during the story posts.
thanks for the insight to your job
My pleasure!
Hello from sweden. I just love your channel. Explain very easy things and a funny person 😊
Thank you! 😃
Speaking of restored aircraft. If you’re ever in JFK. You should check out the old Lockheed Constellation behind the TWA building. If I’m not mistaken it was flown to JFK and now it’s the bar behind the TWA building.
I will most definitely check it out when I’m in JFK
Hi dear friend. What a wonderful detour from the usual days at the "office". Hopefully you had a lot of fun. Have a nice day.
It was an absolutely great adventure Carlos and I very much enjoyed. Sharing this with everyone here.
I love that the old extinguisher carts with the big wheels are still around
Got to love the Flying Kangaroo getting a photo op in😁
They kept the design exactly the same on those old fire extinguishers. They are pretty cool.
Good times!
Loved this video, Stig. Thanks again and God bless, take care.
I can totally imagine, and thank you so much for your service Tony. I appreciate you my friend.
You are living the life big Stig! Thanks for sharing.
@@boatingcharlie1 I wouldn’t call it big. I’m just living my life that I enjoy. Every day I wake up is blessing.

Thank you so much for the kind words. But even I need a break
you know Stig, on those old non flying aircraft, most of those scratches and dents will buff
right out. Enjoyed SS# 47,
Like I said in the video, I wish I had the money and the time and the hanger to actually make these things airworthy
44:35 Commercial grade stick right there 😂
🤣🤣🤣
You know Stig I tried my best to understand the ATC Language. Honestly, failed as it's very difficult. However, I really enjoy hearing the conversation between the ATC and the cockpit.
It takes time and practice to understand what they are saying. You also have to be familiar with the airport layout and terminology. Once you get used to it, it’s very easy to understand.
Stig, if I'm not mistaken, in a video, you showed "bug strikes" on the inlet cowling of one of your aircraft. I believe you spoke of a video where you discuss bird strikes. when you have a moment, may I ask if you could share the link to that video? Thank you. Enjoy your time off... later🤙🤙👈👈
I’m in the process of remaking that video about bird strikes so stay tuned 👍
@StigAviation thank you, I sincerely appreciate that.
Another great Stig Shift episode! The Compton 100 was interesting to see, as were the beautiful cars, especially that teal-blue Alfa Romeo! I'm a few days behind in watching this episode, so I hope that you are enjoying your well-deserved time off! Later! 🤙😃
I'm glad you liked the cars. I've been enjoying a bit of time off too!
Nice airshow /car show.
Glad you enjoyed it
On your last brake ride Stig, I heard a call sign I haven't heard in years "ABEX 403 heavy". I know the name on the livery has changed but ABXAir..... or Airborne Express 403 Heavy would have been a 767-200 flight coming from a KILN LST 2000-2003
That’s the one. I’m glad you spotted it.
That's one of my greatest fears. People commuting back and forth to work in personal aircraft people can't even drive on the ground!
Good news is that it will be automated with computer control or by a private pilot, the passengers will not be flying it
Thank you!
Happy Halloween Stiggy from London. Absolutely loving the new videos.
Thank you so much, glad you are enjoying the videos from London
Hello from Switzerland... I watch all your videos like a series that I can't miss. Soon 100K. Keep it up, thanks
Thank you so much for watching. I really appreciate it 😊
Thanky for showing the emergency light, Stig. I always thought that the light strips would be default configuration
Glad I was able to show you. It’s a slightly different configuration but does pretty much the same job
22:36 keeping an eye out for this. My career in software development is at risk due to company instability and financial stress, and there is an international airport within a 20-minute commute from my home.
Back in 2015, I was trying to get into the Air Force, specifically wanting to get into aeronautics. Ended up getting rejected due to medical reasons, but the passion and nerd itch have always been there. While I hope I don't lose my job, I wouldn't be opposed to getting into your field of work
Well, as I said, Aviation is a very big open door, so many vast opportunities here. I encourage you to do some research and ask questions. I guarantee you you will find a job that you enjoy in this industry

The black and white whirly bird was Airwolf, a Bell 222. You've got to know Airwolf, surely 😊. Great stuff, as always 👍 👍
You got it. That’s the one
Stig.. kind of surprised you’re allowed to do the Comp Wash on the ramp and not required to collect the excess wash fluid…especially in California. Also, speaking of Airbus cabin lights.. I don’t recall the test, or why we did it but the lights and speakers go through a test that turns the cabin into a disco tech.
It was an older video when they allowed it. Now we need a catcher
I love your videos. Thanks for that.I work in an MRO Shop fixing accessorie Gearboxes and reduction Gearboxes for PW 100- 150 and the crappy PW 1500GTF
Thank you for all your hard work, and thank you for being here. I’ve heard some interesting things about the PW1500 😅 not very maintenance friendly power plant
@ you are right the 1500 and the 1900 is a mess to fix.Lot of bearing and Sealing problems.Rusty Fanshafts.Always rotten bolts in the 2,5 Support housing and thats not all 😀Underwing time is a joke
@ last PW engine I touched was 8 years ago and it was the PW4000 equipped on our 330 fleet. Which is long gone now (decommissioned). I never liked that engine. Personally speaking though, the last good commercial engine PW made was the JT8D. I always enjoyed working on those
@ totally agree.
Hey Stig, Don't forget about engineers being involved in aviation, I am about to start my first internship at a MRO shop
Absolutely. Engineering plays a huge role in this. They are the backbone of the manufacturing sector. Without them they can’t even design the aircraft
8:15 bro, did you not watch TV as a kid? 😅 That’s AirWolf! 55:13 cargo is back baby!
I totally goofed, I did watch Airwolf and I completely forgot about it 😅. Come on for crying out loud I mentioned the Jetsons, of course I watch TV when I was a kid
