  • Come with me on an epic journey through time and space, from Earth to the edge of the observable universe. In this experience, you will fly faster than the speed of light out of the solar system, out of the Milky Way galaxy and into intergalactic space, the region in between the galaxies. Here you will observe the cosmic web, the building blocks of the cosmos. If you enjoyed this universe flythrough then remember to tap the like button and subscribe!

    In this video, we will travel to the edge of the observable universe and explore the space in between the galaxies. I was inspired to make this video after watching the European space observatories amazing zoom out animation created by L. Calçada, M. Kornmesser using spaceengine.org. The incredible music during the universe flythrough is by Jennifer Athena Galatis. I have added an epic intro briefly covering the Big Bang, a descriptive voice-over during the flythrough and an ending that explains a bit about why we can't see beyond our observable universe. I really enjoyed making this one, and I hope you enjoy the journey! Have a great day, and keep looking up! V

    It is Sunday night in October when I´m watching this. I am angry with my engineer who signed a contract promising to deliver my brand new house a month ago. While watching this masterpiece, for almost 15 minutes I forgot I need a new house, a new car, a new wife, a new everything, pay bills, go back to work on Monday. For almost 15 minutes I realized how tiny and pathetic my existence really is. Take your time mr. Engineer, take your time... I can wait...

      @@TH-cam_Zukz Good reply - the "stuff" is of course all matter which is made up of atoms and yes, you're quite right, many planets out there but none so far in the "sweet spot" of distance from their star to support life, e.g. just like the other planets in our own solar system. I wholeheartedly agree that we as a species need to start treating this blue gem with a lot more respect. Because until we are able to go to other worlds and potentially terraform as you suggest - this is it - this is all we have. And we risk creating a situation here where we lead to our own extinction because we make it uninhabitable - just look at the melting ice situation.....in the next hundred years my Florida home will be under water and most of the Caribbean nations will cease to exist.

    • @deanronson6331

      @@donaldculp3759 There are many exoplanets in the sweet spot that have been discovered so far, but we don't know whether they have water and atmosphere. Some of them may be twice as big as Earth or larger, which means their gravity on the surface is crushing. They may contain some kind of life, but conditions for human-type life have to be pretty similar to that of Earth. Also, some of those planets are in the goldilock zone of red dwarf stars, which are notorious for their harmful, atmosphere-scrubbing radiation. In other words, the sweet spot is only one element of the equation.

      @@donaldculp3759 Life also has a chance to exist on planets' moons, and it can be possibly found underwater only. One or two candidates are Jupiter's and Saturn's moons. Even if we found a planet that looks ideal for life or human life, it may be so far away that we won't be able to reach it in any foreseeable future and may perish sooner than our technology of space travel is good enough.

The music and narration, first rate. Thanks for putting all the effort into this. Most enjoyable and informative.

    Sadly the universe has been expanding eternally ever since the bang. So even if we were granted eternity and immortality that will still not be enough to explore all of the ever eternally expanding universe. Understanding this humbles me greatly, knowing that i don't even have eternity and will die someday in coming 60, 70 or less years. What is a 100 years compared to 12 billion years and forever more, I'd say it's so short to not even be worth calling it a blink of an eye. We know nothing of our surrounding massive universe and will die knowing that. It doesn't get scarier than that, but that's the way it is... Thank you for this wonderful video! 👍 It was a good call to return to home planet Earth. The time we have is not enough for space but is just about enough to study and preserve this planet for future generations to see. I hope i didn't give anyone a existential crisis by writing this comment.

      Keep it light, Stephen. 😟 Seriously though, I would love to know the answers too. It saddens me that I will never know. Of course, most people never give this shit a moment's thought!
      By the way, you don't know that the universe is expanding eternally.

    • @goldensperm7182
      @goldensperm7182 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's some convincing theories that the univers is shaped like a donut. It has a limit but it's impossible to know. It's like we're in the loop

    • @stephenjohn2131
      @stephenjohn2131 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@renejean2523 Yeah it is really a humbling thought that despite our intelligence as a species together isn't enough. The more i think about it the more that thought eats away at you. It's like a reminder from the universe "no matter how smart you think you are, that still doesn't change the fact that you are ignorant to how this universe works in every corner and will die an ignorant". This doesn't necessarily have to be taken negatively it is in fact a wakeup and cheerful thought instead to motivate you to do things that one can achieve in our short life, this universe is just too vast and too big to notice us.
      Yeah i know that the Universe might not be eternally expanding but alot of studies and theories do strongly suggest that. Scientific theories whilst still not being fact yet they are closest to what a fact is, based on studies and researches ofcourse. I choose to believe it is expanding. Like how our very moon is drifting away from us inch at a time. One day the earth's inhabitants will have to survive without a moon or go extinct. A chilling scenario indeed but it will come to pass one day.

    • @stephenjohn2131

    • @renejean2523
      @renejean2523 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stephenjohn2131 - I think the Moon is leaving us at about 2cms a year. Probably it will be around longer than us. Often I ponder the thought that if we are the only, or most intelligent life in the whole cosmos, what a mind-blowing thought that is. And if there are intelligent species and civilizations superior to ours, how equally mid-blowing that is too. So whatever the truth is....it's mind-blowing!
      regarding the expanding universe, I prefer to say "I don't know" that "I CHOOAE to believe". I don't 'choose' my beliefs. I am either convinced by the evidence, or not.
      Or to be more accurate, I rely on the superior knowledge and opinions of those who know far more about the subject than I do. They say you are 'probably' right, but I can't turn that into a firm belief.
      But it doesn't really matter. As you've pointed out so wisely, nothing actually matters at all! 😐

    In the past couple of years, I've kind of moved to the belief that the Universe is a sphere and not a "forever long" space. There are spheres all over our universe, it makes sense to me that the universe is forever continuous, because eventually, it runs back on itself. I don't think it's a "sheet" shape.
