@ban guns I agree. That live version of Nausea has a more energetic and fuller sound than the studio version. I enjoy Manzarek's organ playing in The Doors, but it ruins the studio version of Nausea.
Yeah, and the versions from the soundtrack are complete. "Wash Away" is legit one of the greatest songs to come out of this scene, even though it was decidedly not very punk at the time to use synthesizers. It didn't matter, the song held up so well it almost makes other stuff from the time seem more dated and juvenile.
Agree with you when it comes to “Wash Away,” which was on the “Beneath The Shadows” album. But I have never been able to find a studio version of “Darker My Love,” so I have no point of comparison.
@@davidreed4083Both versions of TSOL were great. They each offered something completely unique in their music. I’ll always prefer the original TSOL lineup, but there’s no need for bickering after the matter is already settled.
The guy making out with that girl at the beginning (Joe Schmoe in the movie) is Wade Walston - who played bass in the US Bombs for a little while. Funny guy. When the Bombs crashed at my house in Austin back in ‘97, he was relentlessly hitting on my cute little punkette roommate, and she kept shooting him down. I remember walking out in the living room at one point and he said to her: “I was in Suburbia, you know. It was a counter-culture classic”. She was like, “Ok? I just want to make a sandwich”. Then he lifted up the blanket he was laying under and said “Come to uncle Wade”, haha! I guess he had better luck with the girls in the movie.

I still remember the first time i watched this movie, in 2008 when i was 17 years old and started to hang with punks in the suburbia of São Paulo, watching this brings me back to that time, good old feelings :)
Recently watched this movie and was blown away by TSOL's songs. Was previously familiar with them and it didn't sound like what I had heard. Looked up these songs and the studio versions weren't half as good as this, haha. Great live band.
I just fucking realized that the singer from D.I. is in the mosh pit at 0:57 which means they probably filmed all the concert stuff at one time and he probably was just enjoying the free live show fuckin' sick
Yes. These kids were not actors, they were real punks that the directer asked to be in the film. The only actors in this film was the black cop and the "citizens against crime". All these punks did their own stunts too.
