The D.O.C. Recalls Ghostwriting for Eazy-E During N.W.A. Days

When having a debate about the best ghostwriters in the game, it'd be rather difficult to not include The D.O.C. During his days working with N.W.A. and beyond the legendary artist wrote for most artists on the Ruthless Records roster, The Chronic and Doggystyle. "I am one who believes - and I told you this earlier - that it's the song business, bro. It's not the 'who gives a f**k who did this or that,' because at the end of the day,it's just words and music - they've gotta come together," The D.O.C. explained during this insightful clip.
The D.O.C. also spoke on the times he'd watch Eazy-E take credit for his tracks. "I used to sit around and Eazy would have to answer questions about the lyrics that I'd written, and he would answer [them] just sharp...And I'd be sitting there thinking 'That ain't why I wrote that," he said. "That wasn't Eazy's thing. That wasn't his gift."
Focusing more on writing for others, DJ Vlad naturally asked The D.O.C. his thoughts on Drake not writing all his own lyrics. Being that him and his children are fans of the Canadian superstar, he said "You can put Drake wherever you want if that is your opinion - 'cause everybody got one."
    Hear more above.

+ch2iss The DOC is THE most underrated MC of all time.
This man put out ONE album in 1989, and for 10 years+ was still considered one of the top 10 guys.
If it wasn't for that car accident, I believe that The Chronic would've been HIS album.

@@coolinism he matured a lot as a human apparently
DOC said that if he didn't get into that crash he proly wouldn't be here today
His lifestyle was very self destructive and when he lost his voice he didn't play the "why me" game for the rest of his life (even though he did go through that phase for a bit)
He's learned from his mistakes and from that become a much more mature and better man and I really admire the dude

Eazy-E didn't need to write his own lyrics, because he didn't intend on becoming a rapper, he just happened to look like one and lived that whole lifestyle that was portrayed in Gangsta Rap music. Once he was talked into rapping, he realized how good and cool he sounded. He was more of a businessman, though. He knew how to create great things. What made him so iconic, in my opinion, was a combination of his voice, his image, his street cred, his funny sense of humor, his cool attitude and personality, and discovering fucking Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. I love and miss him, man. R.I.P. Eric "Eazy-E" Wright!

So with that being said, I truly believe that dude is posting these videos, in particular the ones where he speaks on Ice Cube not being "as gangsta" as he thought, just to FUCK with us because he knows we have an opinion but we can't do anything about what he posts on his site. this is hilarious!! Dog I'm 35 yrs old from the hood, here's what I always thought about Cube..Dope MC, great story teller, the girls loved him and so on. you can't be as vivid a writer as he was and not be at least some sort of fixture in the hood therefore he rapped about what he saw, much like a Nas. I never thought he was the most gangster or anything. I felt the same way about Pac. but the 40 to 50 year olds don't care if they found out he wasn't a real gangster so why should we. CONGRATS ICE CUBE ON ALL YOUR SUCCESS. HE'S TRULY AN INSPIRATION TO US ALL. thanks Vlad, OK we can expect more Slim Jesus content next

Eazy-E wasn't a rapper,in all of his songs you don't hear i'm the best rapper,i'm rapping like a god,in all his songs he was saying i'm a gangsta, doing gangsta shit, which he was from 13 years old,you can see in his history and even the movie that he wasn't the rapper

DOC was the best rapper on Ruthless Records before the accident & the last song on the album or the song where everybody collaborate whether it was Above the law DOC NWA you knew the artist was pushing each other bringing their A game. I am glad DOC finally telling his story, the 1st album is a Hip Hop classic.

The D.O.C from NWA should really write horror films or get men from the hoods to tell their experiences and share their knowledge they have within them. Men or women from the hoods have the best stories to tell and we like that.....I think it will make him really big his voice and how serious he looks you can really feel his soul almost when he is telling his story..........Please do it!!!!!!!!!!!!! God Bless and no I am not the one to run and say I told him that.....Nope I just want to watch them or him interesting and he is full of them too......

I love seeing all these old artists and all like Yella, Michel'le, DOC, bgc knockout, cold 187, Arabian prince and Lonzo etc. but damn all these repetitive questions r getting real annoying like we know why cube left, Eazy didn't write majority of his stuff, niggas was ripped off etc. the movie came n went!!! Ask them other questions like what r they doing now and their take on today's music and etc. and not just things about that NWA period! Shit

Makes you think.. if Ice Cube was a studio gangster, which clearly was, then what real difference is there between what he did and what, say, Slim Jesus is doing now? Everyone hating on Slim Jesus because he doesn't live what he raps. Now I'm not defending slim Jesus, I think he's pretty annoying, but at the end of the day the only difference is skin colour... People like Ebro from Hot 97 getting mad at Riff Raff cos he's white and he acts black.. but will happily bum lick Ice Cube even though he was lying too. All be it lying about something completely different. It's a funny one.

  • @majesstic777

Where is the line drawn he asks??? Its Not...u are selling records...its all.about money. They're going to sing or rap about whatever sells records. Weather they're really about it or not. That's irrelevant!!!! Take cube for example...prime example of that

Vladimir, bae you need to understand this about black people. You don't have to be slangin' or shootin' everybody in order to tell those types of stories. Sure O'Shea grew up middle-class, but he's still a brotha. I guess I can just forget about an Ice Cube interview. Oh well..... *OOOH, I WOULD LOVE A DJ QUIK INTERVIEW*! It just hit me.

vlad STILL talking about Cube... for like the 5th time now. and he blocked me off IG for saying this there too. Vlad seriously change the pitch man, Cube is a legend, sorry reality hurt your feelings and he's not the 'most gangsta in the planet' like you thought he was. cube is an incredible writer based on stuff he saw. that he saw outside of his doorstep. is not like he lived in the burbs and is speaking on it. he don't need to be affiliated to be able to speak. stop with the smear campaign man, is old and you sound like a hater.

  • @brandonrussell79
    @brandonrussell79 8 ปีที่แล้ว

Cube wasn't claiming to be a thug!! I'm' tired of Vlad trying to make that argument. He wasn't claiming to be Eazy. He was speaking about the environment and the voice of Black males of that time and and they was getting harassed by racist cops along wit that.! His lyrics are the voice of black males now! Vlad just said Dre wrote "Real Compton City G's..." shaking my head.
