    Turned out amazing! Your stuff always looks so effortless for you. I picture you making this the day before it was due. "Oh yeah I have to make a dagger for that challenge." 😁

    Looks like something straight out of the ancient world. Excellent work!

  • @CosmicVitamins

    Your works are beautiful. Quick question, why are your knife tangs always so narrow? With no distal taper? Blade and tang both with distal taper offer strength and usually longevity. Just curious if there's a method to this function.

    • @MozzaBallBill
      @MozzaBallBill 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Called fractal strength -- it boils down to how he hammers the metal tang more dense to less further out. He made a video on it a while ago. It has a better feel overall for the holder and offers similar strength, but it more complicated a procedure and needs a master Smith's hand

    It’s cool that I’ve been able to watch you acquired all your machinery and your blacksmithing tools. Following along as you got better and better. Although you started out pretty skilled.

    Really impressed by how precise you are with the power hammer! First time I've seen a knife build like this that doesn't rely on a belt sander and death wheel to shape the knife from a blank. Fantastic work on the guard and pommel - the dagger looks amazing! 👍

    Everything about this dagger screams "Vintage." You are an artist, and it seems like you have done this more than a couple of times, the way you made the fuller in the blade and then the hollow ground blade using the press, it looked like it was effortless for you. You did a fantastic job and every dagger I have seen being made so far is an incredible piece of work, your is the same way, and it seems like it is going to boil down to which maker you like the best or the dagger you like the best, because the finished product from each maker is a seriously beautiful work of art in it's own right, being made in their own way with plus sides and down sides. This is going to be a very hard decision to make for all of those who intend on voting! Fantastic work my friend, I have subscribed to your channel because I love how effortless you made the entire piece look. RESPECT!

  • @macgyver5108
    @macgyver5108 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    A money saving and safety tip. When working on the grinder, belt sander or anything else that 'sparks', ditch those cloth/rubber grip gloves for a pair of deer or goat skin leather gloves!
    The softer deer/goat leather is more 'supple' and flexible than cow hide leather, so you still have GREAT dexterity and 'feeling' along with a good grip too, but more importantly they won't catch FIRE and if you slip with a grinding disk they'll save YOUR hide on your hands a lot better than flimsy cloth! (been there DONE that!)
    I usually get a size that fits a bit tight, then I use some "saddle soap", or soak them in water for an hour to stretch them and wear them for a bit till they dry for a good 'skin tight' fit! Best of all they can last a LONG time too, for at least a couple years if not many more!

    Paper, cabbage and pineapples are fine. But I think we’d all agree the only way of testing a dagger like that is by driving through the still beating heart of your sworn enemy.

    Just a tip: this is not a knife, the tongue is too narrow for a combat weapon. This would break pretty easily in a real situation.
    A dagger could be used to reflect the attack of a larger blade. The forces involved could reach the scales of a axe cutting a tree.

    just one thing, though: If you could change the pommel shape a bit, you can call it a ballock dagger, for extra coolness points.

    Nice. It would have been cool to see the pommel washer formed to hug the pommel curve and the bottom of the handle curve to tie it togeather. It pulled my eye away from the blade. Nice work though for sure. One day I hope I can make something as good.

  • @nekomusha8119
    @nekomusha8119 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice work.
    Looks good, but only for decoration or cut lettuce.
    The tang it's too thin cause the cutaway in the ricasso is too narrow. It looks good but it is a weak point in the handle.
    If use it for hard work, tang surely bend or break. And the handle probably rotate.

    Forging in the fuller rather than machining it was nice. It's a good size; almost a short sword. That poor _cavolo_ didn't stand a chance.
