    How long can you freeze cooked eggs for?

      I have frozen the sandwiches with the cooked eggs on them for 3 months without any problems. They rarely last that long though... ;) The better you wrap them and protect them, the longer they will last.

    Can you freeze them? If so, how long will they last for? What is the method you use to store your eggs?

      Yes! Here is the link to the recipe for making the sandwiches (I use a different method for doing the eggs in the post, but this way works too): www.makeaheadmealmom.com/freezer-breakfast-sandwiches/
      If you want to freeze just the eggs, I would let them cool, then place on a baking sheet (uncovered) and place them in the freezer for a few hours until they are frozen solid. Then remove them from the tray and place them in a ziptop gallon-size freezer bag and return them to the freezer until needed. (This way they freeze separate and then you can package them together without worrying that they will stick and freeze in a clump.)
      You can also keep them just in the refrigerator for several days in a ziptop bag or plastic food container.

      @@MakeAheadMealMom can you put them in a food prep tupperware and freeze them and then reheat them a week later to eat?

    • @MakeAheadMealMom
      @MakeAheadMealMom  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tastybrownie7448 Yup! You might want to flash freeze them first (so they don't stick together) or wrap them individually first though. Or if you will thaw the entire container all at the same time, I would put them in the container and then put a layer of plastic cling wrap right down on them and then put the lid on - keeping the air pocket in the container from touching them will help avoid freezer burn.

    Can i use lard tallow or butter instead

    • @MakeAheadMealMom
      @MakeAheadMealMom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, either of those should work okay, just make sure you get plenty on the inside of the rings so the eggs don't stick.

    Will the eggs change texture and become hard and rubbery after freezing ? How to keep them soft and tender even after freezing ?

    • @MakeAheadMealMom
      @MakeAheadMealMom  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I haven't noticed it being a problem (and we've been making frozen breakfast sandwiches for years now), but if you're sensitive to taste/texture you may notice a change. Some has to do with how you prepare them for freezing (packaging can make a HUGE difference) and also how you reheat them (if you try to reheat right from frozen using a microwave I can almost guarantee that you will get hard rubbery eggs - just the way the science works). We always pull them out of the freezer the night or day BEFORE and stick them in the refrigerator, then reheat from thawed. Another tip is to slightly UNDERCOOK the eggs - until they are just barely set all the way through. This will give a little extra leeway when reheating so that you don't immediately overcook them. And make sure you are using multiple layers for freezer (for example, wrapped in plastic wrap AND placed inside a freezer gallon ziptop bag).

      @@MakeAheadMealMom Thank you ❤ I did take it directly from freezer to microwave. No wonder ! Thanks so much ! ❤

    Can these be frozen and do they taste good once frozen??

    • @MakeAheadMealMom
      @MakeAheadMealMom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. I freeze them all the time. They are okay once frozen, especially if you use them on a breakfast sandwich. However, I have found that I get the best results when I fully thaw them first before reheating. Reheating right from frozen tends to make them rubbery. I use them to make these:
