Big Bush Trout Blues & The Big Move - Day 15 & 16 of 30 Day Survival Challenge Canadian Rockies

  • Greg and Fowler battle nasty weather (rain AND snow). Both men run into trouble fishing at Grizzly Lake, but Greg lands another BIG fish. Zach’s NEW bushcraft net manages to stop another stout trout from getting away. After they catch and cook (and spruce smoke) the fish, they officially move camp into the woods and begin to settle into their final location, building more and more each day, hoping for better weather on the horizon.
There's only one rule for the 30 Day Survival Challenge: If you want to eat, you got to Catch and Cook it.
Greg is a self-taught survivalist from Canal Flats, British Colombia, who, since he was a boy, has read nearly every book on the topic. When he is not out in the wilderness, he is a professional dry-waller. He started his first bow drill fire when he was thirteen and spent the next forty years learning bushcraft and studying plants and edibles. He has even developed some of his own survival techniques and is a skilled hunter with both a bow and a slingshot.

Fishing for your food on video, monster 5 pounder hooked, 1 foot from shore......SNAP! Supper gone, favorite lure gone....harshest word uttered, "GEEZ!" Great job maintaining your composure. I'm sure I would've lost it.

HEY OVENS, Im rom S Philly and really never fished but it seems you keep snapping lines...while a big fish is on...why are you trying to lift them from the water with the rod...I mean is there a diff better way to lift them from water without using pole too much? ARE THERE MICRO NICKS IN THE LINE FROM OLD USE?

Hello! I'm enjoying watching your 30-day challenge Canadian Rockies - Watched Day 15&16 - I'm watching every episode.
Amazing space you're in, despite the weather. At least you didn't have to deal with forest fires.

Hello Greg! I’M WATCHING EVERY EPISODE, listen Greg, just because u forgot to turn the camera back on when u caught the fish, does not mean ur stupid, so don’t say u r, what u were, was focused. I saw the snow better when u had the camera on the trees, and Zack saying his fingers were numbing up being away from the fire (he was hanging up the fish) can I assume the temperature was 30 or below??? I say burr to that. U didn’t specify which lure u lost, but due to ur actions, I’m guessing it was the pink one, hopefully they still sell at the stores, u ought to buy several. Thank u

I absolutely know how it feels to lose that fish! I've had a 15lb catfish at the shore and he broke my line. Then just lazily swam away. Laughing.

I can't tell you HOW MANY TIMES I have watched you break your line, lose your fish, lure and bait. How old is your fishing line? You should respool with mono every year , considering what you do online. No more than two. if using braid, every two years because of chafing. Is it worth it to cheap out and lose so Many fish when you need to eat them to survive. I have NEVER broken as much line as I have watched you break, and have fished alot. I like your show! Get braid and stop losing fish. This is not good for the fish either.

Question for you Greg. Maybe I've been doing this wrong every time I camp in the wild. Hanging the fish/food up in the tree... wouldn't it need to be away from the trunk? I always thought it was easy for a bear to climb up a trunk and grab the food. Interested to know your opinion on this. Thanks Greg.

Greg my good man, you must keep that Rod Tip up, also in a survival situation you should retie your Lure every time you catch a Fish, this is my second time watching this shot, your Rod Tip drops and the Line Breaks. Play the Fish out more when he is further from shore keeping the Rod Tip high. Your Line is old and Rotten, so you have to make him tired with the flex of the Rod. Don't get me wrong here, I Love your Videos I sub and Like. I just hate screaming at the TV to get your Rod Tip up, Ha lol. Good stuff brother, thanks.

Love the show! But you really need to learn how to cast right lol I’m a fisher and I can’t work out what you doing when casting lol . Normally you just use your finger to let the line go. But it looks like you throwing the lure aswell as casting. ????? But I love the show. Great guy. Fab knowledge. Living in the uk we cant have that experience ! There’s no wild land. And Any wild land is all government! So no Air Rifle and You need a rod and line licence and permission to fish there ! It’s a joke.
