i find that what people's idea of what is romantic is very subjective. A gesture to a person can be seen romantic to one, and super cringe to the other. I feel like at the end of the day, it all comes back to love language.

"Sing Mog" (醒目),a common Hong Kong Cantonese street slang)means Good Situational Awareness. In Singapore people generally refer it as "Street smart" . Hope this will help some viewer wondering what is "Sing Mog" (醒目).

I also think perhaps 'tactful' would also be a good vocabulary to describe that situational awareness sensing in English.

Guys go and read 5 languages of Love. If you expressed the wrong language to the partner, it will never be romantic. First get to know the love language of your partner.
    1. Words of encouragement
    2. Works - do things
    3. Gifts
    4. Time
    5. Touch
These are the lists, ask your partner and have them place their preferences in order so that you can express the right love language.
Use this as a dating topic and dicuss and get to know each other better

dating is romance in korea but it all breaks down when he got you caught, hook, line and sinker. then it all becomes a power play because a lot of them are still extremely misogynistic, and the use of domestic violence in korea is also still very common.

They have no idea how korean men actually are...but if that's what they want, who's stopping them? Also, what the girl mentioned was all about the guy doing 'everything' on the date and making her feel loved, but she didn't mention anything about what she does for the guy. Food for thought..

Just my opinion on the last part nearing on the 30min mark.
I believe most people undermined the term language. The reality is words are only 10%, your tone is 30% and body language is 60%. When you meet your partner, the vibe you get immediately from seeing them is your subconscious mind reading the subtle body language of the 60%.
Body language is hard to lie, its a fact. Humans naturally have an acute sense of intepreting body language and tone.
Love mainly comprises in 3 forms, intellectually, financially and physically.
When a majority % of your love runs on intellectual love. It is alot more sustainable because you are constantly reminded on why you love that individual and your body language shows without much effort. Hence, these couples usually last the longest with least effort.
Sadly, most couples these days go for physical love or financial love as their majority %. Unsustainable to keep the love going because the motivation to stay excited fades when their beautiful face becomes a norm or when you are used to a better financial lifestyle.
So you end up finding yourself whether what you have was truly love or it was all a facade.

Depending on how that Korean dude was raised actually... A Gyeongsangnamdo man i knew was kind and sweet, but rather brusque... He will unexpectedly suddenly hang his jacket on me and just walk on without saying anything.. and sometimes he would turn my shoes around when we are leaving a place... He doesnt say much but i can only think his actions showed his heart... But one day when i went to hike and was a bit lost..he was worried but outrageously mad and screamed at me... It was scary. He didnt want to talk to me for quite some time... Also there was one day i didnt do the dishes and he was angry with me for that too... I still cant make sense of some things that happened...

Media/K-drama has an influence on the perception of romance. K-dramas show very idealized romantic gestures, such as holding the umbrella for the girl and the guy getting his shoulder rained on. In a genuinely caring relationship, if the girl were to care for the guy, I am sure she would not want the guy to get rained on and get sick.
So after viewing these dramas/media, many women think thatALL Koreann guys are like the dramas. This is unfair for guys as they are compared to unrealistic K-drama romantic standards. K-drama is fictional, exaggerated, and gives idealized scenarios to get people to watch and viewership numbers up for ad revenue. Dramas are Not a very accurate representation of real life. Dramas just give idealized views or perpetuate stereotypes, tropes, and archetypes. Enjoy K-dramas for the story, but they are in no way a n accurate reflection of life.

I think one tends to over-generalize with sweeping statements when comparing different nationalities’ romancing behaviors. I agree tho tt love languages are an impt way of knowing how to make your partner feel loved. I also have to emphasize tt the romance changes thruout the relship as it progresses from initial courtship to engagement to marriage to parenthood. It might seem sad to forgo all the romantic grand gestures tt previously were present in the courtship years but if what replaces tt is consistent, faithful & loving behavior of being there for each other no matter what, then perhaps tt matured love is what can stand the test of time.
    Hb’s romantic gestures:
    1) preferring to come home asap to me & kid & hv dinner w us instead of gg for after-work drinks w colleagues often
    2) massaging my achy muscles during a bad bout of flu when asked
    3) washing dishes & clearing the sink wo being asked (albeit tt happens once in a blue moon…😂)
    4) always including me in the wedding & outing invites tt he receives
    5) protecting me from having to interact with those family members who have done much harm to me
    6) NOT flirting with other females when I am not around & especially when I am around.
    7) helping me hang laundry while I wash & fold them for daily division of labour
    8) depositing his entire salary into our joint bank account bcos I am a stay home mum
    My romantic gestures:
    1) fetching hb fr work everyday wo fail even when I am ill
    2) preparing/reheating meals everyday for the family even when I am ill
    3) hugging him before bedtime
    4) washing bathrooms for him when he cannot do it according to roster (not the most romantic gesture a person can imagine…)
    5) ironing his workshirt for him when he asked (even tho I am in charge of my kid’s & my own clothes while he’s in charge of his for ironing)
    6) trimming his hair for him as & when he needs to for impt meetings etc etc
    7) ordering his fav foods everyday
    8) NEVER demanding a diamond ring from him bcos I believe an object can never signify how impt I am to him. I demand for consistent faithfulness & stability for our family instead.
    9) choosing to buy a teacup puppy to give me the attention & love instead of gg elsewhere for it bcos hb is wayyy too busy & stressed about his work
    9) depositing my entire inheritance into our joint bank account & not hoarding money elsewhere
Real life is more than romance; real life takes a lot of hard work; real life needs consistent acts of service to make a marriage work. Real life is REALLY TOUGH.
At the end of the day, I believe in marriage vows & being true to Jesus w my marriage vows. I hv nvr taken it lightly & hopefully, neither will hb. 🙏
It’s also v true tt all this is subjective & what is romantic to me by hb will be cringeworthy to me if done by someone else. THAT IS LOVE. ❤️

Trade off w dating korean men might just be the conservative/traditional culture where the guys have a more "big man" role 大男人主义; Agree with john chua regarding certain gestures/acts that guys get teased about that they eventually avoid in order not to mislead or be mistaken about; john paul's point about ending up as a "servant" is kinda valid though there is nothing wrong with serving one another/partner especially if you are married, just need to ensure one isnt too used to it that they take it for granted. Cant agree w the ladies about dressing up being their part in romance though

Im not trying to blow our own horn. But Singaporean men are pretty amazing. You observe that increasingly, there are more men who will wear the apron in the house and are even better at taking care of the kids than the ladies. More men are willing to take the path less taken and work in the conventionally female dominated industry, and even excel in what they do. Many men also value their own passion and even venture into areas e.g. social entrepreneurship, social services that contribute back to the society even if it doesn't pay that well. Alot of the younger sg men search for meaning in what they do or to do what is meaningful to them.
Singaporean men are usually confident, well-mannered and family oriented. That's our strength. And we ought to be aware of our 'value'. I certainly think Singaporean men are valuable in the dating market. And if sg ladies think otherwise, so be it. The world is our oyster.
And it's not romanticism that will sustain a marriage. It's responsibility, committment, communication and quality time especially when you have kids in the dynamic that will sustain a marriage. You know why i know? Because I have two kids and my wife and i are already 15 years together.

generally when it comes to dating, girls want to stay still and look pretty and their idea of "romance" is getting chased while not putting in any effort. double standard much.
when you talk to female friends around you, you'd notice they want a romantic guy that gets her flowers, plan the date, pick her up etc. but when you ask them what do they give the guy in return, you'll find out that the typical response you get from them is these below that somehow allows them to think they dont think they need to put in extra effort -
    1. effort spent on dressing up
    2. energy spent on going out with someone
    3. money spent on makeup
they've probably never thought about how their 3 points apply to men as well
    1. everyone has to dress up for dates even guys?
    2. planning and research PLUS the anxiety of having to think about a backup plan for the girl in case she isnt happy with the initial plan? and having to think about conversations?
    3. hair products or fragrances to look and smell good too? what about paying for the date, petrol and flowers?
there are more requirements set out for a guy to date a girl than there is for a girl to date a guy.
well with that being said, i hope everyone find their own special someone.

Chinese men from China are very Similar to Korean men and into putting much effort and very caring and generous . But most of y’all don’t practice any Chinese culture and traditions but y’all are extremely westernized that’s the reason.

Guys don’t make you feel loved during initial dates, it will if it’s a relationship,,one girl’s experience do not make Korean guys r better than Sg men…I bet some Korean girls will say Sg men are better than Korean men , so it’s subjective….

I think our Singaporean men should improve their romantic life. Girls watched a lot of Korean and Japanese drama and expect their dates to perform better!
Don’t blame on the girl, do something about yourselves!
