    Excellent video. I'm from Canada, so I can't buy from you, but appreciate the plain language overview of features. Well done!

    THANKS FOR THE GREAT VIDEO! So helpful and simple! I just returned my leased 2014 Fusion SE on Monday (loved it, by the way) and drove home in a 2017 Titanium Energi (same red as in your video :-) This is my first "Eco Car" so when I say I'm "green" I don't mean it in a positive way. Needless to say, I have a lot to learn about driving techniques for a PHEV, but fortunately, my car will "teach me." Now, if I can keep my eyes on the road (rather than locked on the pretty gauges) I should be in good shape in no time. With that said, I must admit that the first day I drove it to work I felt pretty ignorant (read: stupid), because I was convinced that my car was way smarter than me (and my iPhone)...but after about an hour with the tech guy at my dealership (Caruso Lincoln/Ford in Long Beach) I feel much more relaxed behind the wheel (and the touch screen!) By the way, I did a lot of research before opting for this vehicle and, while I'm fairly Ford-Biased, I will say this is the sexiest car I've ever owned and I'm thrilled by the purchase. Thanks for confirming that what I learned was correct about my car; I hope people watch your video and learn that they can stop driving their hideous outdated Prius and start driving a car that actually looks gorgeous while it passes everyone from the carpool lane. ;-)

      Thanks. It's gorgeous (and I'm getting better at all of the bells and whistles...)

      Carl, may I ask about your experience with the acceleration in EV mode? My only reservation was the 0-60 time of about 14 seconds in EV Only mode, and much closer to normal in hybrid mode. My biggest concern is trying to get up to highway speed on the entrance ramp onto a busy Interstate highway. Thanks!

      I have to admit, I'm still driving like a little old lady (not that there aren't some little old ladies with lead feet, but, you know) -- so I haven't really "pushed it hard" yet. This is probably owing to the fact that I've got over 550 miles on it and still have 1/2 tank of gas (LOL) -- Let's just say, I'm dying to go a whole month without filling up! HAVING SAID THAT...I do feel like it's a bit...sluggish (compared to my 2014 Fusion SE) and it is significantly "weightier" -- so I feel like I'm trying to get more moving, which changes the way I drive. I do tend to leave a little more room between me and the guy I'm trying to get in front of. This may be unnecessary, but I'm still getting used to it. Bottom line: Not as responsive as gas only or normal hybrid -- but probably performs as specified. 14 seconds...? Meh...probably so. But, I live in southern California, so merging from 0-60 is not all that common. Going from 40-60..70...happens all the time (not during rush hour, of course.) Does this help at all, or did I equivocate too much. Feel free to ask me more and I'll answer you (maybe better!) Did I mention how much I love this car, though? Oh My God. It's SUMPTUOUS, GORGEOUS, ELEGANT, SEXY...I own the PHEV world. ;-) LOL..

      Hey so I'm planning to buy this one too and I only concern is about performance .. how it works if we run it only on gas mode.. is it more responsive ? How much it goes for 0-60 for that ? ..

    • @caridelacruz6002
      @caridelacruz6002 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it is more responsive in hybrid (gas) mode. I haven't tested the 0-60 rating, but I do know it handles more like my 2014 Fusion SE. Basically, if you are buying a car for performance, don't buy this car for efficiency. ;-) By the way, I have 1300 miles on the odometer and haven't put a drop of gas in the tank. I charge to and from work, AND I drive in the carpool lane...so if it takes me 14 seconds to go from 0-60...which I don't do...I'm good with it! Things to consider, anyway...Good luck!

    Very helpful review. The only two negatives I've heard are slow acceleration in EV Only mode, and the trunk. As the sales rep points out, those batteries have to go somewhere, so that takes a chunk out of the trunk (pun originally not intended, but it works here). I appreciate that he was willing to show that. The Fusion Energi is definitely on my shopping list. BTW, there is a $4,000 Federal tax credit for buying a Fusion Energi (see your accountant for specifics), and your state may also offer credits. Oregon offers a $750 credit for installing a 240V charging system in your home, which covers about half the cost. You don't need that 240V charger, but it will charge significantly faster (about 2.5 hours vs. 7 hours on a 120V connection).

    I like that red color.
    Ford also just came out with a nice blue color for the Fusion.
    The Fusion the last few years the blue color they used looked purple.
    The new blue color looks blue.

    I just sold my 1st Ford Fusion Energy today!!
    It was a 2016 one though, still brand new! I have only been selling cars for 5 months. I love it! I'm the only front line Sales Woman!
    I sent your video to my new buyer!
    Great videos! I just want to learn about Ford & Lincoln to where I'm good enough to make Utube Videos! Thank you for educating me on the Fusion Energy!

    I have a 2017 ford fusion energi. Yes you save money on gas, but I paid so much more for the car. No $$$$ saving at all. On hot days the battery goes fast because you need the air conditioner. So its ok, but no great deal or money savings! Fun to drive electric and quiet.

      I agree w you....i don't see where i am saving any money at the pump....except for the fact that gas is cheap atm....it's fun to drive but it is definitely not cheap. The trunk is small so don't do a big grocery shopping!!! It takes forever for the heater to kick in and get warm....i would say like 20-30 mins...i do like a lot of things about it, but i don't think it was worth what i spent at all...

    I have one doubt. Can I buy an energi, the plug in hybrid model (coz I am getting it cheap) and never charge it and just drive it like a simple, normal hybrid??? Pls clarify.

    are you telling me this get better MPG than a toyta Prius? Why ford not pushing this?

    • @1973TJM
      @1973TJM 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      A Toyota Prius cannot operate as long on its battery as this Energi, because its battery is smaller. I own a PHEV from Hyundai, and it is rated at going 27 miles on that bigger battery alone. She only drives, round trip, 20 miles, in her normal work day. We rarely put gas in it. You cannot say that about a Prius.

    I looked at this car long and hard.. I went to Friendly Ford here in Las Vegas and they were so pushy (this was for a 2016 model). They held my keys hostage and just totally brutal.. I got pissed off and left. One of the worse car buying experiences from them. (I bought two sport tracs from Friendly (not so friendly) a few years earlier.. I decided not to go with this car because of the EV range, absolutely NO room in the trunk and the NAV looks extremely dated. I leased a 2017 Volt premier with everything including adaptive cruise. has a trunk you can use too.

    • @JBM425
      @JBM425 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The difference is that the EV equipment was applied to the Fusion as an afterthought, much as in vehicles like the Toyota Camry and Avalon that were designed around gas engines and later adapted to hybrid use. With the Prius and the Volt, those were designed from the ground-up to be EVs and things are arranged in a way to utilize space more efficiently. Those cars don't offer the level of comfort that the vehicles like the Fusion and Camry do, though. It's a trade-off that the buyer has to determine. In my case, the trunk is not as big a deal for daily commuting, but for hauling my hockey equipment, I'd probably look at the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, which is not a plug-in. If I do wind up getting the Fusion Energi, I'll probably get a Thule roof rack and box to lug around my hockey equipment.

      BTW, the nav system has been changed in 2017 models. 2016 and previous had the MyFordTouch interface, but they upgraded in 2017 to the Sync3 interface. Most reviews I've seen say it's a night-and-day improvement over the MyFordTouch, so I'm not even looking at 2016 models. The Sync3 also supports Apply CarPlay and Android Auto.

      How is your Volt doing anyway? Consumer Reports gave it a 1 out of 5 (its worst rating) on predicted reliability, and just a "54" score in total. I am about to use the Lemon Law on my '16 Hyundai Sonata PHEV (won't charge, in shop since July 6..(today is Aug 8). Really considering this Ford Fusion Energi.

    I do not get anywhere near that many mpgs....very disappointing....the trunk is awful....and it takes a long time for the heat to warm up the car...
