I’m 27, had my first kid after being married for less than a year, he is 8 weeks old and i had no idea what i was doing but you just kind of figure it out i guess and it has been the most incredible blessing being a dad. Lots of self sacrifice and i am training less but it is totally worth it. I think about leaving a legacy a lot and i want to be able to see my great grand children so for me having children early was important.
I think it would be cool for Jordan to come visit Limitless Edmonton to experience Joey’s coaching - I selfishly just want to meet Jordan haha, but I think it would make for a special moment for all of you
You're right! Just need like a week or 2 to further collect my thoughts and questions. I've been reading,a and learning a lot lately. It can get confusing though at times haha
43:12 if you worried about being a good dad that’s the first indicator that your going to be a good dad. The goal is just telling your kids that they’re growing up that you’re trying your best and that you love and care about them there’s no such thing as perfect parenting
I’m probably in the minority here, but I would really love to see a super fight every ADCC one for women one for men in the GI, To acknowledge the roots and the tradition of where it all began and you might get some exciting matches because it’s on such a huge stage.
Yessss !!!! Yo jordan are you planning to do a training retreat which doesn't require flying to a tropical island ? :) Something in Germany perhaps ? 😂
42:00 don't put it off, I'm closer to forty than I am 20 and with toddlers and no help. It doesn't get easier by waiting and putting it off. It gets harder.
Couldn’t agree more on the fighter pay and net profits argument. It’s disgusting but I do believe someday it will get unionized like the other sports just hope it happens sooner than later
Definitely record anything you plan on doing related to the eco. approach. It’s one of the most interesting parts of the podcast + anyone who doesn’t like it can just not watch it )
Dude I had the start of it! I had to rehab it and start lifting weights slow, I lost 2 inches on my right bicep and forearm! I had to start with 5lb dumbbells and now two years later, it’s at 90%
That's the whole point of negotiation. The top names think they bring more value to the organization than they are being compensated for. That's what we all do when negiotating salaries or pay.
Not trying to be pedantic, but I find it sooooo funny how people pronounce "uke" here in the US. Pronouncing it like oo-kee rather than oo-kay completely changes the meaning of the word. Uke is the shortened form of uketomeru which means "to accept, to catch, or react to". Uki means a lot of random other things depending on how it's spelled in Kanji. Not a big deal, just nerding out about Japanese 😂. Great show! I enjoyed the ADCC and comp pay talks :)
UFC bonuses are a joke. back in 2008 they had 75K bonuses that switched to 50k bonuses TODAY. Being on a half/half bonus is such a scam too. If someone is scared of losing half their paycheque, they will to anything to secure a win, including being ultra conservative and risk averse. Fighters are so anti labour unions it's sad. Working against their best interests. Like Joey said, the biggest leagues in America have player associations and have collective bargaining. It has empowered and enriched their athletes over the years.
I don’t get how they’re independent contractors, but they can’t fight anywhere else, when I was a independent contractor and maybe it’s different here in Canada, I literally had to have more than one contract that paid me or I couldn’t qualify as an independent contractor
Craig Jones is doing The Lords work!! He's the biggest badass in all of combat sports! I can't wait for this tournament!! I'll overpay to watch it to assure that the competitors get paid 👍
I would imagine that ADCC probably operated at a loss for many years and/or had very little actual profit. At this stage of the bjj evolution, ADCC has done more than most to highlight the awesomeness of this sport. They likely are just tipping the point at which they are now making profit. The presentations, i.e., from last ADCC, look expensive to pull off, so we really don't know how much money there is to go around.
It's interesting how nobody cared about this before, but as soon as CJ makes an ista post shitting on ADCC, everyone is suddently up in arms about athlete pay. lol.
Nah bro, they are making a lot of money through these people and don't give a fair share. Thats been criticized. Obv anyone can choose to not participate
Okay, do YOU want to see the best grapplers competing at ADCC? Or do you want "the best grapplers that agreed to compete for this amount of money" competing.
This statement ignores the underlying systemic exploitation of labor under capitalism. People are often forced to accept low wages due to their lack of bargaining power.
This episode was funny! Thank you guys
haha thank you!
Thank you!
I need to get over my deathly fear of flying and get out there to uke for Jordan outside of class!

Congratulations bro!
The benefit of winning at adcc is more accreditation when opening a gym. But i think min take home should be like 50k
I’d go 100k 1st 60k 2nd 40k third plus submission bonuses and bonus for super fight 100k
Great episode again. I really enjoy it. Thanks for putting yourselves out there.
“I remember how I grabbed it…it was a week ago, he was in turtle…” lol

I'll be there in June! :)
Joey, you'd be a great parent. The sooner you do it, the better.
Yall had me laughing out loud this episode. Thanks.
Thanks for listening!!
Do it on the Podcast! People can choose to watch or not. I'd love to be a fly on the wall for the convo. 😊

I need to get over my deathly fear of flying and get out there to uke!
PGF is 20k per person for the winning team and is much smaller than ADCC. Puttin them to shame!

Jordan about to get that Bas Rutten baby arm! Get a MRI!

It’s so weird that people feel they are entitled to someone else’s money.

The fighters should still be able to get their own brands. I'm sure they would love that to be a thing again

28:58 hes Australian lol they don’t care
Jeff Chan (MMA Shredded) has embraced the gay community. That's why he is usually shirtless in his videos.
It's interesting how nobody cared about this before, but as soon as CJ makes an ista post shitting on ADCC, everyone is suddently up in arms about athlete pay. lol.
its been an issue for a logn time. but having one of the sports biggest athletes actively speak out really brings it to the public attention
Craig just came in with cji which pay a million bucks for first place
If you’re not happy with how much you are paid for doing something than don’t do that something.
