  • 10-10-10 Here is part 2 of a 2 part video on how to change oil and filter on a 2008 Yamaha V Star 1100 Classic. In the begining when describing stuff gathered together I ment to say oil filter, Not Exhaust Filter. This is the way I change my oil. If you have a shop manual follow the manual. This method works for me so this is the way I do it. Remember, after you run your motor to warm the oil up the motor and exhaust may be hot. Be careful not to burn yourself. It will be noisy without the mufflers on so be considerate of your neighbors. Ok, Ok, so I reved mine up a little after I turned the camera off, but not more than 15 minutes. I am not a professional so use these videos at your own risk.

Thanks for making this video. I had no clue what I was doing. Changing the oil is way harder on than on a 2002 R1.

Great informative video! Clear and concise instructions. I'm ready to go tackle an oil change I have put off for way too long. Thanks.

Great time to chrome polish things that you can’t get to when the pipes are on as well !!

I can't understand how a motorcycle manufacturer would design an oil filter in this location. My second gripe is lack of horsepower. If they fixed these two things I would be very impressed with this bike. It is a nice ride for crusing. I have gone 650 miles in a day and felt fine when I got off. Other than the 2 weak areas I am happy with this bike and would buy another. I am going to ride this bike for a few more years till I get it payed off.

If there is one major gripe I have with this bike it is the engineering that went behind the location of the oil filter. You shouldn't have to take half the bike apart to change the oil. An oil filter relocation kit costs $230. Not exactly pocket change.

Doesn't the 1100 have a pretty good power to weight ratio? If it is a good highway cruiser, then why does it need more power?

Most important part of this nightmare oil change was the o ring behind the inner oil housing imperative to not have it fall out during install well shown by this guy, as a mechanic it is one of the stupidest designs ever made however I love my vstar 1100 classic softail so fuck it, it's like working on a beamer wait till u have to adjust valves the nightmare continues
