    It's incredible to me when I describe to people how they can improve their issues by going keto or carnivore they just give me the stare like I'm crazy, yet I stand right in front of them as an example of someone who feels better, more energy, less pain at 55 than ever in my life, and lost over 100 pounds.

    I'm 71, with 7 heart attacks, CABGS at 49, 8 stents, (calcium plaque, stents ground and lasered out of RCA and LAD in 2020) moved from pre to diabetes 4 months ago. When I ate a hamburger/bun and my blood sugar went to 300, I quit eating carbs, found out about keto. I've lost 45 lbs (6' 1", 210lb) blood sugar between 128 and 100, HDL way up 45, Trig 153. After listening to all the talk about oxalates and lectins, I'm wondering if I need to go carnivore. Although I feel much better, 71's pretty painful. Hope I haven't been too slow to the party. Thank you so much!!!!

      My guy yes, do it!
      I just had some of best blood work I've ever had done and I was keto for 2 years. I'm not in bad health as keto was great but my hdl was stuck at 50 and my trigs were good at 58-76 but I'm sitting at 28 trigs and 64 hdl (best I've been) just got blood work done this month. Go for it try 90 days my brother you're going to feel great, lots of grass fed if you can substitute regular as they usually eat grains and carbs which is no good , pasture raised eggs, ground lamb, bison, etc. I love it with peppers and onions but you dont need veg, i do avacados and peppers/onion combo here and there only for veggies. wild caught salmon some organ meats. Much love man.

I went on ketovore/ carnivore for at time only 3 months and my labs came back with 2 fully functioning kidneys ( and all labs over all were better) My GP was flabbergasted and said my kidneys are functioning perfect! He called it a miracle and told me to keep up what I was doing and even asked questions. I pointed him to Dr.Berry!

    This conversation backs up what I finally figured out after a long fight and becoming diabetic; and then I've got it turned around. A few years back I got notice of my lab results and fasting glucose was186 and was asked if I wanted metformin or figure it out. My choice was to figure it out and today I got a fasting glucose of 100. I eat 2 meals a day 6 hours apart and it is low carb keto. I also do 40 + hour fasts to keep me going in the right direction.

    Many many folks still think that if you eat some fat, it will go directly into the bloodstream and start building up on the artery walls, and I don't think doctors in general including cardiologists, are doing enough to correct this belief.

      evolution doesn't manifest in individuals but in populations, over long time. You survived long enough to reproduce, so however many genes drifted in you from your parents were insignificant. The genetic adaptation to drinking milk as adults was about as swift a bit of genetic drift as humans have seen, and not all human populations on earth have it.

    If you go back as recent as the 1960's and 70's, we were eating tons of sugar and obesity was rare back then. If you saw someone who was 300 lbs back then, they were looked at as a circus act. We drank pop with cane sugar, ate candy bars with cane sugar, fries, burgers with buns, pies, cake etc. We ate a slice of white bread with every meal. It was around 1980 when the food companies figured out it was cheaper to use high fructose corn syrup instead of cane sugar. Then in the 1990's they developed gmo corn and spray it with glyphosate aka roundup poison. The corn plant is genetically modified where the poison won't kill it, which allows the farmers to spray their fields and kill the weeds without killing the plants. Glyphosate has been proven to cause insulin resistance, and I sometimes wonder if it's the glyphosate in the corn syrup causing most of the uric acid elevation? I recently found out that they are now spraying glyphosate on wheat to dry it for harvest in the northern states and Canada. In Oklahoma where I'm at, it's hot enough for the wheat to die naturally for harvest, but up north it's too cool and they desiccate it with glyphosate 2 weeks before they get ready to harvest it. I contacted Shawnee mills, a big flour company in OK, and they said there was no guarantee their flour is glyphosate free, because they source some of their wheat from northern states. I started noticing when I eat US flour, I have an eczema outbreak, but when I use imported Italian flour where they banned desiccation with glyphosate, I don't have an eczema outbreak.

    Anyone with chronic gout reading this, I very much concur with what Richard said about reducing inflammation to curb gout attacks. I've been suffering from gout since 24 and I'm almost 40. So yes, I have had to take colchicine many times but refused to get on the allopurinol wagon. Basically the rheumatoid/gout "specialist" gave up on me.
    It was one of Ken's previous videos that explicitly said the same thing about inflammation.
    Now I eat steak and/or bacon at least 5 days a week & copious amounts of eggs & seafood. All without having to worry about gout.
    Secret?
    1.) no carbs/sugar/fruits (except berries)/alcohol
    2.) minimize eating out (if I do, omega3 supplementation is doubled)
    3.) cook only with cold-pressed oils or animal fats
    Good Luck

    I thoroughly enjoyed this interview! I agree with both of these doctors, a belief in a Creator does not conflict with an evolutionary process. Intelligent/creative man that develops languages, writing, and builds cities and civilizations is only several thousand years old, while there is too much evidence that everything else has been around for a very very long time.

He does emphasise the role of fructose in causing obesity and NAFL, but he also says saturated fat plays a significant part in causing NAFL and that saturated fat is unhealthy and poly unsaturated fats are healthy.

    I really enjoyed this video and have watched it twice and have shared the link with others. I would like to see another Ken & Richard video in the future. Age 63 and started carnivore in mid April 2022 and dropped A1c from 8.5 to 5.7 and have gone from 325 to 255 pounds (lost 70 pounds so far). Last weeks labs: Total Cholesterol is 243, HDL 35, LDL 184, Triglycerides 120. Have been on Ozempic .5MG/Week off and on since December 2021 but did not change my diet, was not losing weight but fasting blood sugar went from 200s to 160s. The real magic started in April when I stopped eating SAD and went Carnivore with a little veg, heavy cream, and cheese along with 16/8 IF, and two meals per day. In June my A1c was 6.7. My fasting sugar is now around 92-105. Typical blood sugar an hour after eating a meal is now between 105 and 115. As soon as my A1c drops out of the pre-diabetic range I plan to ditch the Ozempic for good. The popularity of Ozempic has made it difficult to obtain for diabetics as this has become the latest diet wonder drug for the rich. Note: I was able to afford Ozempic via a 340B program with my health care provider and local pharmacy. My health care insurance would not cover it but the 340B made it affordable at $12/month. I tolerate Ozempic much better than Metformin. Keto-vore / carnivore works!

    What's truly amazing about how the Lord designed the Hummingbird is that He gave us a key example to discover & study how to treat our own disease. "Evolution" is thus part of that design to show us how we can respond & adapt to the inevitable changes that occur in God's creation that we erroneously attribute as a "force of nature".
    Those who believe in God thus praise the Lord!

    Absolutely wonderful! The uric acid information is very interesting. Fructose metabolism is even more so. Chimpanzees are still omnivores, more so than most folks are aware - they eat insects (in a tool-using stripped twig manner), go on monkey hunts and, when unstable, can become cannibals. They also hang out at overripe and fallen fruit trees to get drunk. When pursuing a master's degrees in physical anthropology decades ago (in combination with a double baccalaureate in cultural anthropology and math/computer science), it was obvious that the seasonal availability of natural foodstuffs lent itself to seasonal food cycling. Eating protein and fat whenever they could (everything: insects, eggs, birds, lizards, amphibians, fish, rodents and large game) but eat high oxalate greens in spring to get by (and some vitamins) then stop when they got woody so humans could also detox from the plant poisons, then eat starchy then sweet stuff until harvest to put on 30 plus pounds to become fertile and survive winter (the hunger and starving moons) via ketosis. Nature wanted us to be fat - for only a season - to survive!

      @@aspinallsandy4810 Rhythmicwarrior gave a great explanation! In the spring, I purposely eat the young dandelion greens (rinsed at least 5 times) from my (no lawn care) yard a number of times until they are no longer tender (vitamins esp. C). If you do the same you'll fully appreciate the seasonality. I sometimes play with the petals as well to make dandelion jam or funny honey with alt. sweeteners and gelatin (I'm ketovore). I haven't yet tried to roast the roots for tea (diuretic) of this crazy useful spring bitter green. Then I stop to detox as I am sensitive to oxalates, so no baby spinach for me from the grocery year around.

    Don't need to drink much water if your eating a PHD. I've been drinking 1-2 cups a day for quite a while, and let my body use its fat stores to metabolize the rest of the water it need.

    • @Terri_2.0
      @Terri_2.0 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      He talks about the water in relation to eating salt. Too much salt in our system can trigger the process whereby we start making fructose. He says we need the water to dilute the salt so it doesn´t trigger that process. If you´re not adding salt to your food, it would be ok, in theory, to drink less water and get it from your fat stores like camels and other animals do.

    Great discussion. What I missed was information about protein and how it can be converted to glucose. It's another reason not to go crazy on proteins.

    • @KismetWLS
      @KismetWLS 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because we don't store protein, we store fats. The excess fat can be converted for use in hormones, but it can also be converted to blood glucose.

    • @pursuehealth940
      @pursuehealth940 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ingested protein is converted via gluconeogenesis as needed, it is not based on excess protein being converted. If you're body doesn't need glucose, the liver will not make it. Apparently, most doctors, scientists, researchers, don't have a definitive answer to the "how much protein" question. Estimates of protein per day per person range from one gram per kilo of lean weight, up to 1.5 grams per pound. It's very unsettled science, but most agree that gluconeogenesis is demand driven, not supply driven. Excess protein is passed in the urine.

    • @GerbenWulff
      @GerbenWulff 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pursuehealth940 The way I understand it that is not the whole story. If you eat more protein than you need, the excess will be converted. If you don't need glucose, then it will be stored as glycogen.
