Wish I could give this two thumbs-up! Had a 170B years ago, and now I love to dream about Super 170's.
This must be (or similar) what I am seeing and hearing! taking off from the airport a half mile from my house here in Virginia. Very steep climb-out and the engine snarls at take-off power setting. Very impressive.
It's a wonderful aeroplane with those smart upgrades, and you fly it with great sympathy and precision
On those big rock beaches lower your tire pressure down to around 4psi. Makes a huge difference.
Yes, I do that , but this landing was not planned, and too tempted to pass it up :)

Did you fly the 170 with the old o-300 and the fixed? How much did this change the useful load? Wonder if the STOL changes would be worthwhile with the 145 hp motor? Fun vid, beautiful plane. Thanks for that

@@RustyCoon Cruise was 130mph with the big tires 8.50s and 7.00, what is your mission? Off airport? then the 170 for sure, Backcountry flying? The 182 can do 99% of the strips the 170 do, my next video will be a comparison between both, for off airport operations.
What are your thoughts on Wing-X? Is that a possible future modification you would put on your Super 170B?
I talked to the guys at Wing X,I was tempted, but plane wont fit in my hangar.
