I recovered an Igloo brand countertop ice maker from a rental property. It looked practically brand new so I was tickled to get it. When I filled it up and plugged it in I was immediately let down. IT WORKS!!!! I have an RCA ice maker (similar to the one in the video) and I tried the tip he gave and it worked! I wish I had known about this before. This is my 2nd ice maker. The first one did the same thing. I thought I had tried everything - even fighting with the MFG to return it- which would have cost $65 just to ship it! I am definitely sharing this with my friends! Mine was doing the same thing. Cleaned the little sensors that tells when the basket is full because build up was blocking them and the light went off. Working just fine now.

It worked, thank you! I have an igloo and the sensor that shuts the ice down when it gets full went out. So the fact it will over fill is fine with me as long as it is making ice. Thanks again for making this video!

If it's new, it shouldn't have a problem--you should bring it back and exchange it.
My Frigidaire ice machine does the same thing. And it looks EXACTLY like this one. Obviously some company is making these, and selling them to different companies to put their own name in it.

The problem started when my power went out and it was plugged in . So come to discover that the program cycle was interrupted and got corrupted . the solution is to unplug it and push the gate gently all the way back to calibrate it , and turn it on , and off 2 times to reset the cycle to original .
@@ElpBeautysupplycom can u explain this a little more indepth, I get the 1st half but turning it on and off twice doesn't seem to fix the Ice full issue
@Elp Beauty Supply I did just that and it seems to be working. The ice full red led went out and the machine is operating but sure does take a while to make ice. Thanks for this solution and of course author of this video for the work around.

@@jaykay18 I found that the sensors on the ice machine were actually dirty, so I cleaned those off and now it works without having to use the select button. Just another fix for this machine! Thanks so much.

Thank you so much for this. I don’t have the brand but just seeing you hold the select button in made me think to hold the ice button in on mine and it worked. If you have a Frigidaire EFIC235 and it says ice full, just hold the ice button in for 10 seconds to reset.
Yes, like was stated in the chyron, it works on most brand ice machines.

Funny thing, on count 6 or 7 the “ice full” light turned off & my ice maker started working. 😮
But I continued to hold down the “Select” button for 10 full seconds, just as you instructed. Thanks again very much!😄

Worked like a charm. My ice maker then ran for one hour and 50 minutes, then stopped. Which filled the bucket without overflowing. It seems to do this every time I use this trick.

Just want to say Thanks , I found one at a garage sale and it looks new but miss the basket. I did the reset like you did and it started to work and the ice full light went off . So far all good . I looked at other on youtube and they said use a jumper wire for the sensor . I like yours Thanks

Thank you SO much for sharing this!!! I had just watched a video on how to splice and jump the sensor wires and your video popped up next... I'm so glad it did. While I could have spliced the wires- I was hoping there was an easier fix.
Once I had held the center button down for the 10 seconds though, I did have to hit the power button again, as it didn't automatically start. Once I did that though... It looks like we're good to go. ❤

@@jaykay18actually I was just coming back to say that now the light is off but I'm only getting about a quarter of an inch of water up the pegs... Everything seems to be "running" fine, it cycles through the water fill like it should but then it's not leaving enough water to fill the pegs if that makes sense.
Any ideas? Mine's the igloo ice 102C if that matters.
@@missychan63 Check the manual, perhaps you have initiated a "cleaning cycle". Or, maybe your pump is bad or clogged.
*** Until I can figure this out, I just used a turkey baster too push water up over the " push tray" and get the reservoir full. So far so good.
We humans will do just about anything for our ice 😅.

I read in the comments section that if you hold reset button as it begins to start up it should go back to original setting. Tried it a few times and it actually work. BY using this video, you'll be able to make 2 to 3 cycles before you have to repeat the 10 second reset. To me that is ok if you don't use alot of ice. But in my family it's not exceptable. So if your looking for a more PERMANENT fix, that won't use the ice sensors at all then...1. Remove the 6 screws holding the back of the case on and slide it down. 2. On the right side of the unit, you'll see 2 green switches. Above these switches you will see a RED and a Black wire going to the front of the machine. Back trace these to the GREEN switch harness which plugs into the upper right of the circuit board. 3. CUT both the RED and Black wires. (these actually go to the detector on the left front of the ICE SENSORS.) Cut approx 2 inches from where they plug into the board 4. Strip approx 1/4 inch from both wires and tie them together. 5.Cover with heat shrink or electrical tape. 6. Replace the back cover. 7. Enjoy all the ice you want without resetting all the time. This fix actually tricks the unit into thinking there's no ice in the bin. And allows you to change the size of the ice. No "ICE FULL" light on either. JUST REMEMBER THAT THE UNIT WILL CONTINUOUSLY MAKE ICE SO KEEP AN EYE ON IT, DUMP REGULARLY, AND SHUT OFF AT NIGHT....

@Robert Roan I found a slightly easier (temporary) fix... There is a small metal bar inside. It is not structural, it is a thermistor (thermometer). Hold that little metal piece between your fingers to warm it up for a few seconds and the TRAY FULL light will go out and will START WORKING AGAIN. Perhaps we can change the resistance value to make it less sensitive to cold.
