To assign choke group to many samples at once you can select samples with shift or cmd/ctrl or you can select all samples with cmd/ctrl + a (in chain view) and then you choose which choke group to assign and you do it once for the first sample and all highlighted samples will be assigned to that group.
I can't get sound I have an mpd218 on ableton it did work but my daughter started pressing buttons and now I have no sound. Ableton shows the sounds but no sound is coming out
Thank you so much for this information… now How do I record my samples and arrange them into clips? When I record I have dead air space before and after my recordings
It's included in the preset controller script for the MPD24, but you can also map them manually by clicking the midi map button then 'loop' and 'length' and turning whatever knob or fader you want to assign to them.
super fire how you used the knobs to control those parameters! I've got the MPD218 and want to have the same ones, but even manually mapping it, I'm a bit lost (I'll program one of the knobs to effect the release of one of the samples and it only works for that sample, unlike how yours was responding) If you have any ideas would love to hear them :)
How can you re-map the pads on the MPC Studio (hardware) to sync with those in DrumRack? Right now if I press pad 1 on MPC Studio it triggers pad 2 in Drumrack. Pad 3 triggers Pad 7, etc. etc. Appreciate it!
Im having the same issue. I even tried mapping the MPD in order on the actual editing program. Nothings worked for me, my pads are all over the place in ableton. Currently, the only way Ive figured out how to get it to somewhat work is just select a drum kit (ex. 808 core kit), double click the clip slot and click the midi editor preview (headphones icon above the kit in clip view) and click one input (kick or snare) to the midi note editor. I was able to map my mpd18 that way, using their midi mapping feature. granted it's really tedious. Hopefully we can get a reply from demonic for some legit help.
@@yusuke6243 That sounds crazy. I hope so too man. Not much in Google either. It's probably not possible or it's not very intuitive for my rookie Ableton ass.
Sorry for the late reply on this. You have to change the midi note on the controller itself. The drum rack is hard coded. Most of the time this happens when your controller has been changed from the factory settings. You can first try to reset it to the default settings. Then if that doesn't work, manually assign the right note on the controller to the drum rack.
Super late reply, but i ran into the same problem and found a nice quick fix on reddit and wanted to share in case someone else gets stuck on that as well: press & hold "Prog Select" and then press pad 4. That enables the right MPD 218 pre-set for Ableton Live drumrack.
Great tutorial . Choke groups are brand new to me but I can see where I can use them. I noticed that you used your mouse to switch between different scene clips. Is there any way to use the pad controller to do this . I have a Trigger Finger(not pro) and want to select clips as I sing. Bit tough with a mouse.
yeah, all you have to do is map whichever pad you want to trigger the clip or scene. Just click "midi" then select what you want to trigger, then hit the pad you want to use.
Hello I have a mpd 218 connected to ableton live and a drum rack I have a song in one of my pads and I’m trying to do a loop and a can’t in 1 shot mode, and when I change to classic mode e does a fade out on the song… can somebody help me?!
I'm having a different problem now with the drumrack: when I put sounds from the file manager on them an play them on the drumrack, they sound all distorted and way different from when I audition them in the file manager. I have no idea why. De- and re-installing Ableton didn't fix it either. Do you have an idea?
Hey man, thanks for the video. I'm using the MPD 226 and I have to hold a pad down for it to play the whole chop/slice. I want it so that I just have to press it to trigger it and it would play the whole thing, any ideas if there's a setting I'm missing or how to go about this? ty (:
I haven't actually used the MPD218, but the 24 and the 16 just mapped fairly simply. The pads should already match up with the drum rack and if you want to make special mapping for other features, just use the ableton midi learn feature.

That was I was looking for. Thank You for Your time to bring this up. Waiting for more Friend!
Amazing tips. Lots of learning here, such a dope session !
glad you found it helpful!
can you do a follow up with Ableton live 11? pretty pls
Very helpful, Thanks Brother👍

how do you program a pad to repeat without having to keep hitting it?
How did you control the loop length with the knob? That's dope!!!

Is there a way to map the function of the know that moves the slice from left to right on another midi controller? I can't find a way to do it.
Thanks

when you're trying to do repeating loops like that, it's better to just use the clips in ableton. You can still map the pad to trigger them.
I am planning to get a MPC Studio but not really sure if will integrates well with Ableton Drum rack.
庄宇 it doesnt
I’m using the drum pad in the thumbnail, it says my akai is connected but I can’t assign any samples to the pads, it’s just silence, how do I fix this
Are you using the drum rack?
Demonic Sweaters yea I got it to work now, just had to unplug and plug the drum pad back in
@@DonRubio21 awesome, glad you got it to work!
How do you change one set of sounds/samples to the next on the drum rack during live performance without fiddling with the laptop to make it flawless
You can use the different banks on the pad controller, most have 2 or some even 4 different banks.
i connected the pad and it doesnt work, i did all the settings right and it doesnt show?
i have the same problem with my MPD218, struggling to figure out what’s wrong

Hmm that’s a new one. Maybe you’re running your interface at a weird sample rate or something?
turn off "warp"

just turn your release all the way up in the sampler/simpler in Ableton!
great music, is it possible to do this with akai apc mini??
Yeah they just have less pads.
Are the notes in MPC automatically fitting the midi notes in drum racks? Or did you do some adjustments? Thanks.
I was using an MPD, not an MPC, but yes they matched up by default.
Demonic Sweaters Thanks! Have you tried the MPD 226? Do you prefer the old MPD24 or the new MPD 226?
No, I never tried one. The only one I ever had was the MPD24, so I can't really compare.
庄宇 226 wayy better pads but less knobs, mpd 24 not so good pads but more knobs and sliders. Make a choice
Hi there, I'd like to learn how to best utilize the MPD218 with Ableton drumrack, any tips?

Are u using automap? If yes whats the name of it?
No, it just works for me
@@demonicsweaters damn okay!
Thank u very much for the answer
How do you assign the knobs to adjust the sample length etc? Thank you.
I figured it out. It was pretty easy. I was thinking was to hard about it then I light 💡 went off and said MIDI Mapping.
yep, sorry for the late reply. If you select it as a control surface too, a lot of stuff should be pre-configured.
ableton sucks i found that out today i cant get it to do anything
