Yeah real respect for your knowledge and craft. Makes me feel good knowing there’s real caring ppl out there. Horses are a wonderful creature and I feel they deserve all the care and love one can offer. Well done sir.
Awesome job in preventing that crack to migrate any further. That should encourage new hoof growth. That shoe with guides on it will keep the hood from spreading everytime it's stepped on. Thomas Dutkiewicz Connecticut, USA
I grew up on an equine farm breeding Blood Bay horses, and these vids have the best farriers i have ever seen, wish i had these vids around when i was a kid to help me learn faster.
You guys are awesome the work you are doing is incredible you are saving horses by your blacksmith’s art of custom fit horseshoes, not too mention the knowledge it takes to treat the wide hard to treat hooves.
Sure looks like the horses appreciate your work and even enjoy their trip to the nail bar! Would be interesting to see some shots from a few months down the line.
Yeah, that's the way to make a channel explode in size. Have small "stories" that people can watch and follow along with. The Hoof GP started doing that and are now at 1.52 million subscribers.
Has any horse owner ever used or thought of using animal (mutton, beef) fat on their horses hooves to keep them supple? We used to use mutton fat many years ago and it worked really well. Mind you we used to clean the hooves of 30 odd horses daily and never had issues like this!
I’m so glad that horses can’t feel anything in their hooves otherwise you driving screws into the hoof that horse would have flipped out in pain from that if they could feel pain in their hooves! I don’t have much context of how that hoof got such a crack in it. I can only guess while that horse was running around it probably stepped on a rock which cracked a chuck of its hoof out. And since it needed the wiring and screws in it I could only guess if you didn’t wire the sides of the crack then the left side of the hoof (smaller side of the crack) might have broken off after a while. I can’t imagine how unbalanced that would have felt for that horse. I’m glad you caught it early and mended so it wouldn’t loose a chuck of hoof!
It could have cracked up into the flesh also and made the horse permanently lame. Then it would have been put to death. He literally saved the horses life.
That crack is permanent..... the coronet is obviously badly damaged and the horn secreting pappillae are distorted and/or destroyed. The horse will always need special shoes to support the discontinuity. Very nice work...
@@abramslion1 the coronet is the ring of flesh right above the hoof. If this person works with horses all the time it would be easy for them to pin point. I confess I didn’t see it. I’ll have to watch again and pay attention.
Doing some binge watching: Re heel cracks, I've watched with clips only, clips with acrylic and now with screws and wires . What determines which method to use? Thank you
My 2 year old has a center crack that seems like a surface crack. But I'm not positive do you have any tips to get it to repair when I ride him on my gravel driveway I can tell it hurts him. I bought him some endurance boots but they rubbed the back of his pastern after 2 short rides around my property. 😢
I have seen this before and have also seen nails driver horizontally and bent over to hold the crack together. The hoof cab be encouraged to grow by rubbing grease around the coronry band or even using a mild blister.
Hard ground/concrete and hooves not being maintained. You'll see well maintained horse stalls have a good layer of straw and usually a rubber mat underneath. The cushioning effect prevents each step the horse takes from being like hitting the hoof with a hammer. Hoof is much like fingernail. It's easy to get a split started, hard to get it to stop. This hoof would be kind of like a hangnail, but huge.
Would you be able to use baking soda and crazy blue to address that crack. It is what they use in nail salons to fill nails. Also we use on wooden props to fill stone bruises/small crackle
God bless the mighty Dremel, Its been used for everything under the sun and more. Nice job. I have the flexible shaft and it's even more awesome than the regular corded model but wouldn't serve you where you are.
Each time the horse steps, it will expand slightly. This will prevent that from continuing the crack as the hoof grows. I have known horses not properly cared for that have cracks like this all their lives.
saw a vid called "the future of horse shoeing" or something like that. they make a silicone mould and inject epoxy resin in and it completely seals the hoof. idk if it was the future of anything cause i havent seen it again but there it is. its supposed to prevent this very thing from happening.

They don't need to be tight, and in fact that would be counterproductive- the screws aren't set very deep. They just need to be enough to reduce the lateral force on the hoof wall.
It's amazing how chill the horses always are with all that noise and banging on their hooves

Lol by the looks the horse didn't enjoyed it hahaha
This video was 11 months ago. I wonder what’s the update on the horse. I wish there’s a follow-up video.
I love this channel so much care is given to the horses well being weldone gys God bless you
Don’t know how I ended up here, but that is some truly amazing work.
From upstate New York.
Really curious to see and learn more about how this will heal. Idk how TH-cam took me down this path but I enjoy it.
That horse will live a good long healthy life with such great care. Nicely done, sir
Do You have a update on this horse? I'd love to see the growth and also the removal of the stabilizing patch
So fantastic that you can treat these cracks...your amazing..
It’s amazing what these craftsmen can do.
This is going to be a long time growing out for sure! Now it might just heal completely. Great work!

I am sure if you go to this chap and ask nicely, he could fit and nail a couple of horseshoes onto your feet too.
WOW!) Супер!!! Спасибо за то, что вы есть и что вы такой чудесный профессионал!!!!

Great tip. Thanks. I heard to use some sort of fat to keep them moisturized.
I expect lanolin from sheep wool would be the best lubricant. Works a treat on skin and nails!
The clingfilm at the end is clever.

You’d have gotten a tighter pull on the wires if you twisted them in with a set of pliers instead of by hand.
I was thinking that also 😅
They don't need to be tight, and in fact that would be counterproductive- the screws aren't set very deep. They just need to be enough to reduce the lateral force on the hoof wall.
why do you press the hot shoe onto the hoof?
What was that putty?
