  • I didn't realize that all the guts of these doors are riveted in place. Also, the access openings to the connectors for the door wiring, don't give ya much room to take apart...the whole thing is a pain in the ass!

I appreciate u showing us poor boys other ways to save a paint job other than completely repainting the car

Thank you for the explanation of why you are doing the sanding and buffing. I was thinking of you and the time you could possibly save sanding and painting the whole car. The sharpie trick is a great tip to know. I appreciate you trying to save the customer some money. That will get around and people will pick you to do their projects. Great work Dan. Keep it up.

Thanks! As of now, the sharpie is acting as a guide coat...it also makes it easier to flatten out runs. I can already see that I'm painting almost the whole car anyway, but I tried!

The Ford truck door was a disaster for you, and I hope that it will be beneficial for you in the future. The Datsun, oh well, you're gonna paint it. Keep the work going and faith going, Sir!

Always better to do it the right way. You will get better praise with your work, even if it isn't in the customer's budget. It sounds to me like he was tired of dealing with it himself anyway. Keep up the good work. You can always tell your customers the same thing I do. "If you don't have time to do it right the first time. When will you have time to do it right the second time?"
