I live in CALIFORNIA, took my car to the dealer to find out I was having the exact same issue. They were charging me $3,300 to fix it so I decided to do it my self. This video is pure GOLD, I was able to replace the part over LABOR day weekend and my ac is back 100%..... THANK YOU SO MUCH for this video, I really appreciate it.

Great job !... you are probably the only person, who was able to film the actual cutting process ! It's a lot a lot easier to take the driver seat out before the job... its only 2 bolts.. and you can lay flat in the car. It's probably worth mentioning, that you have to grind of off a lot of plait from the edges to fit the piece back in. I find silicone better too use since the quality one lasts up to 300 F since the area can get very hot right next to the heater core and the heat gun glue will get soft pretty fast. Read video ! Very helpful ! Respect for the being able to film in that tight spot.

@@tobyreal6647 I would drive my Camaro there today because my blend door is broken and I found a guy that will do this but he wants to charge me $750.00! I think that's a little high, plus I already have the part. I'm just afraid of that heater core or I would do it myself! I can't see out of my windshield, no defrost or heat. No air started in September. They said it was the condenser, then the compressor, then evac & recharge, then thermostat, then hoses and lines. Never had any of that done. Googled it and found my problem but afaid I'll do it wrong.😔

    • @tobyreal6647

@@BumblebeeDeeDee If there is no air coming out the defrost vent it might not be the blend door. If you are not afraid to do it yourself, you can get it started by taking the actuator off and look into that hole to see if the blend door really fell off.. into the housing. Don't worry about the heater core if you have the right tool and cut careful you will not damage it ( the side of the header core where the drill would hit it, is very solid. But if you want to be %100 safe you can take a heat blade tool and cut the plastic with that. Once you do the work, you will understand, why people change that kind of money for it. If you take your time for it maybe a couple of days to not get frustrated and use all the help you find on the internet, you can really do it yourself.

@@tobyreal6647 I got under the dash on the floorboard and saw where everyone else cut theirs and went by that using a Dremel tool. The blend door was laying down flat with a broken end that the actuator connects to. I replaced it and glued the plastic piece that I cut out back on. I finally have heat, air and defrost. Now I hear a slight whistling sound coming from the vents and defrost, only when the heat is on but not when the air is on, when I turn the blower control up to level 3 or higher and it gets louder with every notch turned up. I think it may be because I need to replace the cabin air filter since now there is full pressure again. So I'll replace that soon and see if that fixes the whistling sound. Not sure what else it could be. If you have any suggestions please let me know. It's very annoying and I don't know why it only does it with the heat! Thank you so much!!🤔

QUESTION: am in the process of doing this repair and have hit a snag. The shaft on the actuator motor won’t align with any position that I can adjust the newly installed blend door. It's just slightly off but enough where I can’t even re-bolt the piece on. I’m thinking I can reset with a 9V battery, but can’t find the pin assignment to test. @@anarasii Can I pay you to fix my car? I live in GA but I will drive to NC. Everyone is scared to do this hack for me! Also, is you AC still working? Did you have any other issues?

Profit engineering @ it's finest👌 take a quick look around the web & it seems EVERY 5th gen. camaro suffers from this failure @ some point...hey guys just FYI don't know if it's facts or not but I've been hearing from a few other owners now say that staying away from MAX cool & MAX heat avoids this problem cuz I guess it doesn't stress that weak-ass corner as much so if you're gonna go through all this trouble to diy & hell especially if you already got bent over by tha stealership it's probably worth while to just try & keep it away from the 2 furthest extremes if u guys can maybe u won't have to do this again especially if u plan on keeping the car🤷

That’s exactly what I do to try to prevent this problem. Just don’t turn it all the way on the coldest setting or the hottest setting so that door is not under any more stress trying to be held tight into that spot my sons 2014 as we speak is blowing hot air on the driver side and cold on the passenger so I think his is already broken. My 2015 has already had the condenser changed. It was a $3000 job because of the intense labor it took to get to it.

@@renpal2173ify holy moly 3k for an a/c condenser!?! I could probly have my whole a/c system replaced 3 times over for that much & I drive a Cadillac!! Definitely not @ tha stealership tho I know...I was about 2 purchase a really low mileage 2012 'maro w/ the v6 but passed on it cause it had the cruddy Aisin ay6 tranny then I find out about more issues like this; I'm sorry but we live in AZ by far the hottest state in the union I'd be pissed if I couldn't blast the a/c in my car on max out here w/ out fear of breaking a stupid plastic piece that u have to remove the WHOLE DASH to gain access to!?!

Only two bolts and a harness plug in to remove the seat giving room to work. And not rip up interior
