- The floor-mounted door stop is one of the more common door stops. They do come in different qualities. I believe the ones with the added pin provides extra strength. This is a simple project and shouldn't take more than 15 minutes.

I was wondering what the little nubby pin was for. So, that means I got to put two holes in my floor and not one.
Would that be considered "altering" the apartment by doing this?
I rent my place and they did not put a door stop behind the apartment door. The last tenants left a gaping hole in the wall from the door knob making impact. I patched up the wall and got a door stop but the door may be too high off the floor. So, I bought a draft stop to create a "bottom" for the door.
I also recently purchased a different type of doorstop on Amazon. It was a magnetic stop that one part attaches to the bottom of the door, and the other one can either be adhered to the floor or is one small screw. I use those in my bathroom doors with ceramic tile.so drilling through a ceramic tile wasn’t too bad with a masonry bit. But the part is very flat and unobtrusive.
Thanks for this. Do you think it would be ok to install this close to the hinge? It's a trip hazard for my situation otherwise.
Yes, it would work…keep in mind that the pivot point is farther from the edge of the door and someone could cause damage to the hinges or the door…think of lever and fulcrum concept…as long as people are careful the install should work…
Could this be used on a suspended floor with laminate floor boards on top?
Depends on humidity control in the house…I think it would be okay because anchoring at one point shouldn’t keep the floor from moving as intended
Can we not use this type of door stopper on lino?
You could use on a linoleum floor.
