  • Near the Gotthard Mountains in Switzerland stands the "Ghost House of the Swiss Alps". The old Gotthard Sanatorium, which was opened in 1905, once served as a hospital. First it cured soldiers from the First World War, later tuberculosis sufferers. The five-storey building, with a total of 76 hospital rooms, had to close in 1961 for uneconomic reasons. Today it is filled with many eerie stories. For example, a Lucerne resident reported in a paranormal forum how his car was said to have turned itself crosswise on the road at night when his friends and he wanted to explore the sanatorium. In addition, there is also a rumor that a doctor has performed demonic experiments on patients.

The Gotthard Sanatorium is huge, very old but also incredibly beautiful. Which lost place or urban exploration has excited you the most so far? Let me know in the comments below!

The spot is amazing and so impressive ! Thanks for the full video. I was there in July. Was it hard to reach the floors above ? The stairs seem to be broken everywhere. Did you jumped ?

In fact, the stairs in the Santorium have already collapsed in a few places. In one staircase it is still quite stable up to the 3rd floor. The 4th floor can be reached via the modern extension on the 3rd floor at the back of the sanatorium.

The Gotthard Sanatorium has been abandoned for decades and will eventually slowly but surely fall into disrepair if the building is not reused. Let's hope for the best.
