People, usually women, who get in the cycle of domestic violence don't see a way out of their situation which is a direct threat to their own safety and well being. It is often poverty and knowing that you must provide for your kids. Many are locked into a situation where they are almost completely dependent on their own abuser to protect and provide for the children which are BOTH their responsibility anyway. Shame on you for blaming the woman who has had violence and the continual threat of violence for years put on her. No wonder she is beaten down and so tired. @@ingridfong-daley5899probably because the defense attorney had already argued repetition. He didn't feel the need to argue it since it was probably in the police report.
I just love this judge. She knew that the defense wanted to blame the victim for her choice to move in with the defendant, even though he was very aware of the protective order against that. That's why she brought it up when talking to the prosecution because the defendant was using that sob story as an excuse to not follow the protective order. She wanted to cover that so that upon sentencing the defendant, she reminded him that he was very aware of the fact that it doesn't matter if the victim wanted to move in with him; he was still responsible for not following the protective order no matter what. Watching that smug look fall from his face when she sentenced him to prison time was awesome.
I would have agreed with him if she would have come to him and he didn't want to leave the kids with just her if it wasn't her time or something. But once he agrees to move in with her after the protective order is in place, that's like trying to use a self defense argument in a murder trial where you were able to go into your house and bring out a gun to use it. It nullifies the original argument.
It wasn’t a sob story. It was a very important fact in this case. Even Boyd asked the prosecutor why this wasn’t a mitigating factor? That means even Boyd was curious why the fact that came to him wasn’t a reason to lighten the punishment. The defense wasn’t trying to blame the victim. The defense didn’t even question her at all.
@@lissadawes4243The defense literally blamed the victim because it was her fault. She chose to move in with her abuser. Probably so that he didn't abuse her children. Better her than them. Thank God he's spending 9 years in prison now!
@@MamaMOBNo, they didn’t. Do you not think that was not an important piece of information the judge needed to know? She certainly thought so. It’s not blaming the victim as if they were saying she deserved it. But she did go to him and not the other way around. Even if judge Boyd didn’t find it enough to mitigate she did ask the prosecutors to address this which meant it was important and not a matter of pointing their finger at the woman. You have a very uninformed view of how the legal system works.
When you are asking for reduction in the terms of probation and start off by saying: this is the longest I've ever been in jail, you are not making a good impression. Clearly a candidate for Criminal Genius of the year.
Some other inmates no doubt told him to say that bcuz it sounds to THEM like it's a humble way to say , it's hurting and I've learned a lesson. But they never care about the person they hurt. Just how bad they're hurting.
I always find it weird to see these seemingly normal middle-aged white women with what appear to be hardened criminals. Makes you wonder what she was like in her early twenties. Before he got his claws into her.
Alright judge! That criminal was soo cocky!! He's bull pooping everyone. He shows up and immediately says "good morning judge how are you today.." or something similar .i could see in his face he was up to sweet talking the judge ! And very proud of himself while doing it Such a smug look !! Yuk! Thank good she saw through him!!
Why does this victim have to stand in such close proximity to her perpetrator, she has a protective order?! I can only imagine how hard it is to be there and tell the truth knowing your words will completely piss him off.
Because unfortunately our court systems tend to let these abusers walk out with probation if that. Most of the time, nothing happens other than a slap on the wrist. The courts provide close to no protection. They should have had an officer to stand next to her.
My daughters fiance use to be a big drinker. She had a daughter before they met. They have been together for 15 years and have a son who is 12 yrs old. My granddaughter is 17. She was 2 yrs old when they met. You know what he did about his drinking? HE QUIT drinking. Cold turkey quit because he loves his family that much. He quit not long after they met.
Your honor is one of the smartest humans I’ve observed, the multitasking while actively listening, her preparedness for each case, vast knowledge and her consistency to lay down the law all while showing empathy.
A defense lawyer has a duty and an obligation to give the best defense they can and had every obligation to make sure everything she said wasn't heard. The prosecution was out of line
What a stupid comment. That’s her job and exactly what’s she’s supposed to do. She was much stronger than the bumbling prosecutor. Did you miss the part where the judge agreed with her?
What's the point of a victim impact statement if the impact is supposedly corrupting the judge? I mean I know technically victims don't actually ever get Justice because the justice system is about getting the state Justice but I thought they were supposed to play a role. But now their role seems to corrupt the judge because she might actually take into account the feelings of the victim.
For those who don't know, there are community outreach services throughout the U.S. who deal specifically with women and children being homeless, A man who had a restraining order on him should've said "Where are you?" once obtained state I'm sorry but I'm unable to help you, tell the kids I love them, you have a restraining order on me" Then dial 911 and report the unsafe conditions and what was said. That would trigger Child Protective Services(CPS) and housing would be found almost immediately. I think this is why the Judge was pissed, because the man knew better, and with his previous proclivities, he got what he deserved. The Judges decision appeared sound and correct.
Absolutely not! He could have taken the kids and she could have went and found her own living situation and then take the kids back after she was stable. She’s clearly unfit to take care of even her carpet let alone kids.
I love Judge Boyd. She should be a member of the DOJ in Washington. She is everything that qualifies as respectful, honest, intuitive, true, and fair. Judge. She is the cream of the crop. Truck full of ❤s to you ma dame, you have my utmost respect. May the Good Lord bless and protect you. ❤️
There are rules regarding testimony and evidence. While personally you may rightly despise the defendant/criminal, rules of fairness apply. Note that the judge sustains most of the D attorney’s objections. She was doing her job and well. A legal proceeding is not a debate or conversation.
Defence wants to object to anything that victim says as a witness that might be in the victim impact statement? WTF?!? And standing so close to the witness looks intimidating.
I have been to court (as a court witness LOL) many times and I have found the court appointed attorneys all to be quite awful. In this case she wasn't as bad as I have seen and did try to fight for her client. He (the state's attorney) wasn't so hot and I would like to have seen his face when the judge ruled in his favor. Surprise! You won.
Studies showed repeatedly that the brain doesn't do 2 things at the same time. It just switches from one to the other quickly. Attention is reduced when "multitasking". So it would be much better if she didn't multitask as a judge deciding on things affecting people's futures.
Even worse it was "SUPRISE SMOKE". He thought he was doing well and within sight of that finishing line...and then, "SUPRISE MF, ITS SUNDAY BRISKETT SMOKE TIME!!"
. In most jurisdictions, the victims impact statement is taken into consideration when sentencing is considered. Hearing the effect on the victim after sentencing is so unfair to the victim. I wouldn't bother.
Thems the rules. Protect your client and let the judge decide. If a defense attorney does it without the judge thinking she has a credible reason for interrupting, that leash to interrupt gets shorter and shorter. Just as it did for the prosecution when they kept trying to ask the same question in a different way that still wasn't allowed.
This one made me nervous, battered women don’t go from everything is perfect to being beaten up in one day, the abuser systematically isolates their partner, separating them from friends and family, in an effort to keep the peace the abused goes along with the emotional abuse to not upset them, it’s a chipping away process so by the time he was arrested and the protective order she didn’t have anyone to turn too, so he knowing she’s vulnerable extends the fake olive branch making her think he’s changed and will be a new man. She should not have gone to him for help, she should have gone to a shelter, but as we know all too often, CPS gets involved, takes the children and now everything is insane, it’s often impossible for a parent to get their children back, in this situation it’s plausible that the kids would have been sent to live with the father, and who knows what would have happened next.
I know someone who was asking for help for years from constant abuse - a daily ritual and no one would believe or help ! It takes only one hand to extend one person to try and help. Please, never close your eyes to anyone who needs help from abuse !
The way he stared down his attorney at 9:30......complete lack of respect. Very ungrateful. Go to jail, crazy. An inmate who comes in with sleeves rolled up and an imposing attitude is very comfortable in prison. Thank you jduge.
His lawyer: "My client doesnt have an extensive criminal history..." It doesn't have to be "extensive" to be bad. It could be his first offense - it doesn't matter - what he did was wrong, in a big way. Lock him up. Extensively.
The judge is fair and unemotional but does she have to do her filing and never look at the people standing in front of her? It seemss like she's multitasking an important court case.

When the judge is dealing with paperwork, it is usually a sign that she is going blast them. He said, "I have never been in trouble before". But then says, " its the longest I have been in jail. He is so smug. Glad she threw the book at him.
They always want to improve when going to jail.
Well, if they said "I'm not sorry & I'm gonna become an even worse person regardless of my sentence & the victim(s) mean nothing to me" they'd be setting themselves up for even more trouble in the future.
They can try to improve in the penitentiary
'But judge, I have a job interview on Monday '
@@johnsheaman8057 hes missing that interview
amazing how they finally find the time to attend the required classes when they are in jail, vs playing on the streets
Yeah !! She IS A WONDERFUL Judge ! ❤🎉
JUDGE BOYD, DON'T PLAY, THATS THE WAY A JUDGE IS SUPPOSED TO ACT👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
He says “I’ve never been in trouble before. This is the longest I’ve been in jail.” So he’s been in jail before but never in trouble with the law before? 😂
All I had to hear was...Duct Tape 😔
Which the defense flatly denied and the prosecutor didn’t even try to argue back that it was true.
@@lissadawes4243 Right?! I've seen like 10 people in the comments referring to him duct-taping her when that was flatly denied and never supported.
@@noteworthyinsignificance do you understand the evidence was she moved in with him? Not he moved in with her?
😂😂😂😂
Some other inmates no doubt told him to say that bcuz it sounds to THEM like it's a humble way to say , it's hurting and I've learned a lesson. But they never care about the person they hurt. Just how bad they're hurting.
That smug, condescending, smirk says it all.
Asking for “lenience &’ Mercy “ is ridiculous😂😂
The guy seems like he was made for prison.
My guess is he likes the boys, .
Especially when he realizes what they do to kidnappers

Yeah when you been up north you can read body language he definitely been bidding
I always find it weird to see these seemingly normal middle-aged white women with what appear to be hardened criminals. Makes you wonder what she was like in her early twenties. Before he got his claws into her.
Dam, that was borderline cruel. Had him thinking she was on his side and then slams him with 9 years. Savage 😂
Yups, him shaking his head with so much confidence..
dont think he saw that one coming.lol
Anyone else could have seen that coming a mile away
Loved it!!!!😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
That was a little cruel. I could see 3 years but 9 seems just mean. 😢😢
I love how she enunciates the sentencings in these videos.....cool calm then bam appropriate sentencing in the best cold way..love it
I love how judge Boyd is steady signing his sentencing papers while he’s testifying 😂😂. She knows she sending his ass to prison!! 👍👍💯💯
Excellent judge. Thank you, Your Honor!

Yeah but he probably has got away with so much he feels impervious.
Love this judge. No nonsense. Truth, honesty and justice.
Judge Boyd has inspired me to strongly consider pursuing my lifelong dream of attending law school.
Go for it
@@dberr1509 I second that motion!👍
Awesome! Go for it!
The smirk on his face is infuriating.
It departed with the words 9 years. 😂
Better said, the smirk is indicative of an evil conniving person
My daughters fiance use to be a big drinker. She had a daughter before they met. They have been together for 15 years and have a son who is 12 yrs old. My granddaughter is 17. She was 2 yrs old when they met. You know what he did about his drinking? HE QUIT drinking. Cold turkey quit because he loves his family that much. He quit not long after they met.
That is the mark of a real man. To put his family before himself.
He spent 2 long months on remand waiting to be sentenced, only to end up with 9 long years. 😂
Your honor is one of the smartest humans I’ve observed, the multitasking while actively listening, her preparedness for each case, vast knowledge and her consistency to lay down the law all while showing empathy.
Judge Kraynick on the Sarah Boone case is even better!
That defense lawyer is a piece of work 🤬
I know right? Will you just shut up and let her talk? It's almost as if she's bullying her and belittling her
She’s doing her job. She’s a good lawyer. If she were inappropriate this judge would shut her down.
Object! 🙂
I can't even begin to understand the victim's impact not being considered for sentencing.
i was thinking the same
Because they didn't inform the defense that she would be a witness. They thought she would just give her statement after sentencing.
@@tiffany171720052005wrong. It’s the law in Texas.
Yeah she couldn’t even testify. So her strategy was to just stop her from saying anything other than yes or no?
He could’ve let his wife and kids stay there while he found another place to live.
Yeah, so noble with his "I wasn't going to let my wife and kids go out on the street. "
@ I was just dispelling the mans bs excuse.
Absolutely not! He could have taken the kids and she could have went and found her own living situation and then take the kids back after she was stable. She’s clearly unfit to take care of even her carpet let alone kids.
@@damien1781 - Yeah no .

I agree because he will impose himself whenever he wants to .
That neither can provide for.
Objection! Her answer hurts my case.
There are rules regarding testimony and evidence.
While personally you may rightly despise the defendant/criminal, rules of fairness apply.
Note that the judge sustains most of the D attorney’s objections.
She was doing her job and well.
A legal proceeding is not a debate or conversation.
Defendant, when the Judge has your case open in front of her, don't try a sweet talk. Judge can see through you straight away. 😂 Go Judge 🙏✌️🤘⚖️🇦🇺
Defence wants to object to anything that victim says as a witness that might be in the victim impact statement? WTF?!? And standing so close to the witness looks intimidating.
She takes no foolishness. She had her mind made up before her morning coffee.
Judge Boyd is a BOSS! 💖🙏💖
Both attorneys are lame.
The smirk 😏 and the head shake, in agreement with his lawyer.. then the judge punching 👊🏾 him with 9 years😂😂😂 is some nasty work
It was the sweetest pleasure...
Judge Boyd, is a beast. Justice
Where do they get these "lawyers" - yikes!
Surprise! You won.
Judge B is so good at multitasking. She could be doing all that and changing and tire and not miss a beat.
I love how she doesn't allow anyone else to see what she's thinking 🤔 especially when she is multitasking it's her pokerface ❤
I doubt she could change a tire. Having a wig and a designer handbag offers no physical advantage.
Bet she could cook dinner, set the table and put food on the plates while listening to cases. She's amazing!
@@SpicyTexan64 That's not a Wig and she is paying for her OWN handbag 👜 not anyone else.
Studies showed repeatedly that the brain doesn't do 2 things at the same time. It just switches from one to the other quickly. Attention is reduced when "multitasking". So it would be much better if she didn't multitask as a judge deciding on things affecting people's futures.
Man, his face dropped really quickly
I must have been watching a different video. When she sentenced him to 9 years I didn't see any change of expression.

@ingridfong-daley5899 his bisquits bout to be buttered
Y'all are crackin' me up!!😂😂
As usual Defendant has more rights then victim
. In most jurisdictions, the victims impact statement is taken into consideration when sentencing is considered. Hearing the effect on the victim after sentencing is so unfair to the victim. I wouldn't bother.
That defence attorney was pissing me off! The victim couldn't say ANYTHING without her interrupting the victim.
Same!😡
She was doing her job…
That is what a good defense attorney will do, it’s her job.
That’s her job. It’s respectable. Don’t blame her blame the guy
Well we can make an educated guess what would have happened next.
I highly respect Judge Boyd. When a head on her shoulders ❤
I know someone who was asking for help for years from constant abuse - a daily ritual and no one would believe or help ! It takes only one hand to extend one person to try and help. Please, never close your eyes to anyone who needs help from abuse !

Got *_NO_* time for that defense attorney. Her arguments are feeble.
You know he cussed out the judge in his holding cell but was respectful in her face!!! NO ONE is going to be that calm inside when they're fighting like mad to get out of jail and end up going to prison for 9 years!!!
