    Last time I saw Deicide at Jaxx, Morbid Angel was playing at another club not too far away the same night. I went and saw Deicide and there was a turn-out of about maybe 50 people. After the first song, there was mild applause and then a 15 second awkward silence...then someone said "Hey Glen, tell a joke or something!", to which Glen responded.
    "I'll tell you a joke...I won't tell anyone about tonight if you won't!"

    Hah, I was the guy he referred to as Steve Wilko ...i was being an admitted retard yelling out song titles and shit and I’m tall and bald, so it was perfectly fitting..great show as always and this Q&A was awesome and unexpected...HAIL DEICIDE....HAIL LORD BENTON...man, 10 fucking years ago, crazy.

    I met Bob Larson at the Anchorage Babtist Temple in Anchorage, Alaska in 1998 and all he did was ask for big dollar donations from everyone. Later the same day we were guests among others at a private luncheon with him and he was asking for money again. I remember that really bothered me that he was so focused on getting money from everyone and then asking again the same people who already gave him money an hour earlier. The donation amounts he was asking was like 50, 100, and up. And yes, I was a Deicide fan then and I still am now...my friend's parents dragged me to that.

    Metal-Archives(dot)com is the link.
    It says this:
    The Hoffman brothers started using the Amon name again in 2007, a few years after being kicked out of Deicide. The demos listed here are really Deicide releases, but were recorded when the band was known as Amon. So, I suppose their looking for a vocalist/bassist and a drummer.

    I like both of them equally... I still wonder why theirs bad blood because Steve said in an interview that "those dickheads were never coming back into Deicide", which is bascially like putting a person who's provided everything for you out in the cold snow without warm clothing. I really like Once Upon The Cross. The best album without Eric and Brian is The Stench Of Redemption, since it had Homage For Satan on it- the first song I heard from them. Till Death Do Us Part doesn't make much sense.

    It depends on how you look at it. Listen to Glen say about Bob Larson "he's nothing more than a showman, like myself". I always thought that he wasn't really a Satanist but was just trying to piss people off. If you watch alot of old interviews and then new ones, he is much more down to earth and "normal" now. You can even hear it with Deicide's music - after "Legion" most of the Satanic ritual stuff was left behind in favor of more anti-christian and hypocrisy stuff.

    @mrcooldude964 With all due respect:
    Christianity was directly derived from Egyptian Beliefs, which in turn was taken from ancient Mesopotamian Folklore.The great flood, the garden, it's all there.
    Personally, I believe no one will ever know what made us.The simple fact is that we have to improve life and contribute in some way before we die. And then, perhaps we will know. But religion was just created to try to explain something that we simply cannot. METAL!!

    What's wrong with being Christian and being into Deicide?
    I'm Christian, and personally, I enjoy Deicide's musicianship a lot, but am not big on Glen's vocals much...As for the lyrics, they don't really affect me. In the end they're just words, and they don't mean anything to me.
    Tom Araya is Christian, and he plays in Slayer, and he plays songs like Disciple and Hate Worldwide.
    I'm Christian and I enjoy listening to Deicide's music. And what? Any problem with that?
    \:-)

      GGGriggs Yeah the problem is you are contradicting yourself.

    • @gabefields8012
      @gabefields8012 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Friendship with the world is enmity toward God- James 4:4. Tom Araya will be held accountable for the millions of his fans he helped lead to hell whether it's a "show" or not. Brother, as a former death metal guy that understands how Satan works I hope you will seek the Lord on this because it is dangerous to have one foot in the world and one in Christ. It won't work. According to Jesus Himself few enter into life. We want to be all in for Jesus and listening to the Holy Spirit and not demons. I'm not condemning you in any way but am encouraging you to seek God's truth on this.

    • @gabefields8012
      @gabefields8012 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @David Phillips I understand the venting thing that's some of the reason I used to listen to metal. Now I go to Jesus with my frustration and struggles and He gives me peace. I am not saying anyone that has ever listened to or watched horror movies are automatically doomed to hell. I've done many bad things in my past but I put my faith in Jesus and walk in repentance. The danger with music or movies that are sinful is that we are actually unknowingly meditating (keeping our thoughts stayed on) sin. In proverbs Solomon wrote: as a man thinks so is he. So if people are dwelling on sin they are tempted to sin more or just are simply walking in agreement with demons. It's kind of like the phrase "you are what you eat." Satan works bit by bit and leads people away from God in subtlety. If he told man the truth that he wants to take them to the lake of fire forever with him people would not follow him. He operates through deception because he is the father of lies and is much smarter than people.

    Oh it's so fuckin hard for me to understand what he's saying.:/
    You wrote that he "admits it's just for the money".
    Well he writes a really good music and lots of people love it (I do :> )
    so why shouldn't he earn money from that?

  • @AveSatana3467
    @AveSatana3467 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    Doesn't matter if it's for the money. Death metal musicians aren't multi-millionaires anyway. I'm a carpenter, I enjoy it, but I at least expect the low pay I do recieve. What do you know, I make money off something I enjoy.

    I wonder...Glen states in his younger years that he has a "spiritual connection with his master and he tells him what to write in his songs"..If you read the lyrics to "The Truth Above" or "They are the Children Of the Underworld" and many others, he talks heavily about the occult religion pertaining to the creation of mankind, Enki, Anu, Enlil, ect...I would ask him what he knows about this subject, or rather, what has he been "told"....Lucifer was said to have been named Enki many many years ago, and has changed appearances and names over the millenia, Zeus, Ra, Quetzicotal, all the important figures in mythology or at least some of them. I would ask him honestly what secrets of mankind and creation does he know about....you don't write lyrics like this for no fucking reason..."the truth, coming, will destroy his story, not of this earth, we are part of research" "Anu spawned us before mankind was on earth" "Lords of the plague, seven they are, born in the mountain of Mashu's Magic"...Does anyone even realize what he is really saying in these lyrics....
