When the shakti is flowing, you have what you need...the starting place. Use the discomfort of life experience to show you the energy blockage (inner thorn) inside you as it arises. When working with the inner thorn, observe that inner energy, the emotion and feeling of it inside of you. Simply witness it without labeling it good or bad, without any inner resistance. Instead, completely relax, accept, open, and view with compassion. Relax all tension at various points of resistance in the body (feet, legs, groin, anus, glutes, gut, chest, heart, shoulders, hands, jaw, tongue, neck, forehead, scalp, mind). Rescan to feel the tension relax and leave the body. In the absence of resistance, the uncomfortable energy will travel from lower in the body upward. It may feel more challenging as it moves through you, but remind yourself to stay focused on relaxing and opening the heart and mind, trusting even more and more. Yes, it's counterintuitive, but just stay with it. It may feel like taking your hands off the steering wheel. As the energy gradually rises inside, just watch. Simply be the neutral observer. Release the energy as completely as possible. Even if the energy becomes more intense as it rises, the pain will eventually become diffuse and dissipate if you let it be.

If you read comments on YT videos of singer -you’ve read my story of discovering him when I was in despair after the traumatic and sudden death of my fiance. The stress and grief drove me out of my mind and the only relief I could find was in plotting how to make my own death NOT look like suicide. But singer transformed that for me and continues to do so. I’m bummed that he gets sarcastic, that his examples of life situations are often very dated and trivial (and for the life of me I don’t get his preoccupation with space or why millions of earths fit into the sun is revelatory) but this talk today is exactly - and I mean exactly what my soul needed today. I’m struggling with some minor but dumb addictions to caffeine and nicotine gum and see how I use them to fuel my insecurities and doubts. Jai Guru Dev
@jenmdawg So sorry for the loss of your fiance.❤ I lost someone very dear to me on May 31. It was unexpected. The emotions just exploded in me, ugly crying uncontrollably for hours everyday for over a week. Gradually, the length, severity, and frequency of these episodes have decreased. Then depression and occasional tears. But after a week of eating little, I told myself to decide whether to live or die. I chose living. So I made sure to eat something healthy a little at a time, showered or bathed twice a day. Reframing my loss by expressing gratitude for our life together as the answer to my sadness helped. I resumed exercise, breath work, mantra, meditating whenever possible. I often look at the connection we had and considered loosening the grip of attachment a little at a time is a possibility. I constantly work at witnessing, relaxing and letting go. Every little bit makes a difference.
@@susanswinny588 your journey is so remarkably close to my own that I have to believe that we are guided by the same grace through such unbearable grief. I, too, chose to live - at first as only a tribute to the person I loved so much (if I destroyed myself even just through neglect that wouldn’t be much a tribute) but now it’s because I know each life is precious and to behave indifferently or destructively towards our own is the only real “sin”. @@jenmdawg working through grief or energy blockages as Mickey guides readers in Living Untethered or some of his talks using Relax and Release method was a way to heal for me. I did yoga and Zen shikantaza meditation since 1971 at 19. It helped me a lot. I was lucky to find people and books to get me that far early on. It's always stuck with me that all in the universe is indeed connected. It's brought me to the place that the universe unfolds perfectly, exactly as it should and nothing should be taken personally. It's much easier to see this, zooming out to have the more panoramic view of everything from a distance. I believe that Mickey refers to the very large (universe) and the very small (quantum mechanics) because it reminds him (and me) that loads of events continually occur beyond our limited perceptions. When we become very attached or entrained on something from our limited point of view and discursive thinking, we can't see the perfection and unity very easily. In Living Untethered, he goes on about these sciencey things because it's a way to remind us that we and our experiences are but a small part of everything. It helps me appreciate what I have that others may not. And to understand how people can do mindless behaviors that appear unforgivable.

Haha you may need to add a disclaimer to your podcasts my friend as unless you are a treating clinical psychiatrist you probably may not be able to lecture on psychiatric or addiction illness as it could be quite dangerous to go into mindfulness trainings with true mental illness. That's my experience anyway. Namaste 🙏❤🎉 I would have died if I had not sought clinical detox during alcohol and drug withdrawal, and many of my friends have died whilst withdrawing without clinical assistance so I just think mindfulness "teachers" may be more effectively received if sought as part of overall treatment plan if chosen ...but not for informal diagnosis ya know? Telling an addict they can "just stop using" immediately can cause danger I feel ❤ thankyou ❤
